2019 Chevy Colorado ZR2 Bison BlackVue Dash-camera Install

Sorry this video is longer than normal, and this is only a instal video.
Today we install a BlackVue Dash-Camera. We chose this particular camera because we believe it is the best camera on the market, plus moving forward, we will be able to give you multiple camera angels.
We will do a follow up video showing actual video from the camera soon, also we will show the setup and app usage.

Heck yeah! We absolutely love having the cameras, in fact we have added them to our other vehicles…..just wish they had one for a motorcycle 🤣

For those wondering the thread type of the ground lug used in this video is M6x1.0. Use a 6mm lock washer. Hope this saves somebody an extra trip to the hardware store.

Use ATM fuse connectors in your Colorado, pin the battery wire to 31 and the auxiliary wire to 34. You can pick them up at Autozone. Make sure they both have two 15a fuses in each block and pin the ground to the post that holds your fuse box cover on after you scratch a little paint back for contact. Video did a great job showing generally how to do it, but picking fuse ports to use was a little bit of a crapshoot. 31/34 seem to have the most clearance for the add-a-wire and doubled ATM fuses without cluttering the fuse box up too bad.

My only concern would be the side curtain air bag.

pywakett350 I thought about that, and few that the way the wire is ran it is clear (at least mostly) or in restricted in the event that the bag goes off...there is enough slack that it should not impede the air bags function. Hopefully we never find out the a trial truth..😬 thanks for watching and thanks for the comment

i wonder if can fish the line to the rear camera going above the cloth ceiling using one of those electrician flexible rods, so i don't have to go all the way around on the side.

I wouldn’t say it’s impossible....but would be willing to bet it would be just as difficult if not more so to do that. It really doesn’t take a ton of time, just more of a pain in the rear than anything.

Hey Rocky, do you think after time the battery pack will loosen its Velcro mount and start to be a source for a rattle ?

Actually it’s very possible, but do to the way I sat it in the glovebox all of the weight sits on the “bottom”...then after putting the manual and wheel lock key back in the box....it all holds it tight. So I actually have high hopes that it will hold. If we would have mounted it somewhere else that did not have something to press against it...it would already be rattling. It’s got a little weight to it

We have been a little behind due to life situations, I am pushing to finish up a review of the dash camera and will let everyone know what’s been taking place...we are off schedule and hope to get back in gear ASAP! Thanks for asking for sure

Was there excess cable for doing the rear camera. And what did you do with excess

Yes there was probably about 5 foot left. We just bunched it up neatly and zip tied together so that it would lay as flat as possible. Then tucked it inside of the headliner. Thanks for watching.

Any idea if fuse F32 "Steering wheel controls backlighting" can be used? I have a fuse tap cable that will only fit fuses F32 and F34. F34 supplies constant power, which I don’t want, and F32 doesn't seem to be working for me at all.

Rocky AEV I ended up buying an ATR adapter and using a different fuse. Not sure why fuse 32 failed to power it. The backlighting was on too

Are you talking about the one that is "factory" in the grill? If so then to the best of my knowledge the answer is no. The 2019 software will not allow the expansion of cameras like in the previous models. Will there be an update? I can only hope because I would love to add the mirror and grill cameras.

Ve Po technically they do.....the software just doesn’t work for the 2019 model (maybe the 2020... not sure) this was the transition between old software and new software (I know you’ve seen the Chevy commercials and they talk about the trailer bing invisible) well in the process of making all that work it messed up the compatibility on the 2019......so the side view mirrors, and front camera does not work with the new radio. (Also first time there is WiFi in the Colorado) basically I have to wait for a new radio to come out and upgrade, or downgrade to the previous model (and loose WiFi) to gain 3 camera inputs! 🤦‍♂️🤷‍♂️

@@vepo2341 😂 Man Im telling you, I do hope that the come out with a solution because I would love to add the mirror and front cameras because on approach you can't see an dang thing and have to hope and rely on your spotter if you have one.

Rocky AEV....does the VUE battery pack overheating or have experienced any temp increase of that pack? I think I might be ready for it at the end of the spring :D

Ve Po so far we have had no issues, and we are in central Texas where a parked vehicle in the summer is getting hit with outside temps around 102-105....so inside is....a lot more hahah. Just make sure that it’s out of direct sunlight, and has room to breath and you should be fine.
