www.dynomiteperformance.ca - We've tested some popular upgrades for the 2019 Dodge Ram 5.7 Hemi. First we installed a K&N Cold Air intake, then we did a muffler delete, and finally we installed the Edge Pulsar tuner. After each change we did a dyno run to see the results. We were quite happy with the results.

Just ordered an AFE intake as well as a magnaflow muffler delete Y pipe for my 2022 Ram classic with the 5.7 hemi. Also have a pedal commander coming. Much more excited about it after watching this video! Thanks guys!

@@honor4thoseb471 most likely depends on application. We've tested the K&N on a Magnum with the pre-eagle Gen 3 Hemi and made about 10hp. 2009+ hemis (Eagle) have better flowing heads plus the new Ram truck intake manifolds have an active intake (short runner valve) so they are likely more conducive to a better flowing air intake.

No we haven't done the clutch fan delete yet. With Covid going on we may have more time this year to test more. Thanks for the comment.

So I do a lot of highway and occasionally tow I hear delete wouldn’t be a good choice what performance muffler do u recommend?

@@chrismaragoudakis7603 you'll see about 20 hp 20 ish tq I gained cold air throttle body and spacer tuner shorty headers highflow cats muffler swapped to Cherry bomb extreme deleted resonators and carven tips I gained a tad over 50 hp and 80 tq but I messed up running 91 octane and was told I needed 93 and treatment to make sure full stats they think I'd have seen 60 ish and 90 tq and long tube maybe better

IMPORTANT question when you ordered the pulsar . Did you purchase the 2019-21 model pulsar or the 2015-2018 pulsar . TIA ! ! Sweet video btw , I’m only considering buying one , cause of this bad ass video .

Awesome no bullshi*t review brother I love it however I will say with that setup in the real world take up to 10-15 hp off cause you can’t drive around with hood up but I love it man

Appreciate the comments! Yes, I cant drive with the hood up, but also consider that our little fan cannot produce anywhere near the air volume and velocity of actually driving at 80-90mph. Would probably mitigate any artificial gains running stationary on the dyno

We were surprised as well. K&N does claim decent numbers....but we still didnt expect it. I believe it was a Mufflex delete.

Have a Warlock 2021 5.7L developing 395hp and 410 lb torque stock but with a K&N cold air intake 410hp and 415 lb torque same as power wagon.

Yeah but you have to consider the history of the power wagon and its suspension upgrades and lift as well as better cam and crank and heads. I'm not knocking what you're saying or even disagree. Just saying you can't just compare power and not look at everything else too. Just curious.....why do you start the pulls in 3rd gear on the dyno? I am unfamiliar with dynos and just wanted to understand the reason behind it.

I’m wondering what would be the hp ratings at the crank or flywheel, as opposed to the rear wheels? I’m sure with 4x4’s, there’s gonna be a lot of loss

Depending on the vehicle, there is usually 15% to 20% in driveline loss. Dodge tends to be closer to the 20% loss.

@@ELmasterBater69 Ok. So our stock run was 304hp on that particular day. That's a 23% loss from the 395hp to the crank that it's rated. We gained around 30hp to the wheels so safe bet would be around 430-435hp to the crank. We never give crank numbers so don't quote me.

I'm assuming results would be similar for my 2016. I've already done a Vararam intake, JBA Shorty headers, muffler swap, and had planned on getting the Pulsar in a few weeks. Honestly rethinking it after this video. Considering it's a $500 purchase and you guys only gained 12 HP and 8 ft/lbs. I really thought it would be more. Now I'm thinking a unlocked PCM/custom tune would get me more bang for my buck! Great video though!

@@nicm7604 considering your mods, I would stick with the Pulsar. We haven't done headers yet so you'll probably see a bit more gains. Until you get into cams and/or forced induction the added cost of a unlocked pcm and custom tune is not worth what you'll get out of it.

@@nicm7604 custom tunes only benefit is reading codes and headers nos and cams ECT but if your not about that pulsar is best route I'm only getting 23 hp 31 tq off custom tune I have shortys 85 throttle body cold air throttle body spacer high flow cats cherry bomb extreme resonators completely deleted carven 5 inch I have older ram camed and it's faster better but eats fuel like 4mpg lost so my 2016 is not because it's 6 inch super lift on 37s 20x10s and I still had wheel hop so I had to get core offroad parts I ended up with about 50ish hp 80ish tq and I ran 91 octane when they told me I should have had 93 and treatment in tank

after putting miles on the truck, won't all of these numbers just revert back to stock without the pulsar? The engine computer will adjust ratios back to normal given that you've just confused the computer by changing the intake, no?

20hp+ from the K&N intake that’s insane , what’s your thoughts on this. Once the computer system learns the intake it will reset the air dial ratios and supposedly it drops down to only a 3-5hp gain

A Vararam or s&b/Mopar style cold air intake will net more real-world gain because they are better insulated from the engine bay. Opening the hood or cutting a hole above the K&N helps this application quite a bit.

We definitely used 91. We try to run it every time we do any dyno testing.

If you only got 10 on 91 (what thier other modes claim gain wise) I guess 93 is the one that lets the timing advance enough for the larger gain. Appreciate the help and video my friends.

@@durzolife just keep in mind that timing does not advance automatically based on fuel. It does retard automatically if there's pre detonation (ie knock) however.

Tests have shown that K&N "filters" are garbage for actually filtering, didn't realize the stock CAI filter was that restrictive though.

Absolutely correct. To increase flow I don't think there's really any other option than to increase the sieve size. They do try to combat this issue by using an oil based coating, but perhaps not to the level of the stock filter.

The block should handle over 800hp, but you will need to upgrade to forged internals

Typical Dodge driveline losses are in the 20 to 25% range. Not an exact science but will give you an idea.

Fantastic. Getting great mileage in Eco/mds off mode with the Pulsar, but also pulls hard in performance. Love the 8 speed over the 6 speed as well. We hope to do more mods soon once the warranty is over

Man . Just did this with my 2020 , no add-ons and pulling 345 and 6 gear pulls. Should be pulling 405 once completed although sadly will never touch the 518 I got out of my 16 Silverado 6.2

Typically dyno shops will not do 6th gear pulls because of the time it takes. It generates higher speeds and with it more heat leaving you prone to short term knock. You can get the same data with a 3rd or 4th gear pull which is safer for everyone involved. Focus on the gains over stock, not trying to get the biggest number.

Yes you're absolutely correct. However I'm sure you'll also agree that a truck moving down the road at 50-80mph will produce more airflow than we could ever mimick doing a stationary test.

Why would you run a 8 speed truck in 3 rd where the ratio is 2.10:1 you need a 1:1 ratio to get a actual reading and on those 8speed trucks the 1:1 ratio is 6th gear ....results could be skew on this video...

A dyno is not a d#$k measuring machine....it's a tuning tool. Peak numbers are not whats important. Its all about the gains. If you polled 100 dodge tuners 90 of them would tell you they pull in 3rd. The lower gear means a quicker pull, which means less speed, less heat and less wear on the engine. Much safer for everyone involved.

Keep in mind that's 300hp to the wheels. The factory hp numbers are at the crank. Driveline losses in the range of 20-25% are normal.

hmmmm, specs for that engine are 395 HP and 410 torque. On the monitor it shows engine HP and torgue?

A dyno shows horsepower and torque at the wheels, not the engine. You have to take into consideration the driveline loss. For Dodge that's roughly 20%

Wow some one who actually knows how to run a dyno.you would be surprised at other videos I've seen that they didn't get a good base line then got a near 50 he gain on a can tuned naturally aspirated engine and the dyno guy and customer believed it.i'm not kidding.and I said naturally aspirated engine not a turbo diesel or eco boost engine.just saying before someone says sure you can with ...

I thought the pulsar is suppose to give you around 30HP and you only picked up 10HP. Not worth the money.

Yes on the website it does say 30hp. However, in our test that wasn't the case. I imagine if we had headers and a throttle body those numbers would be higher. So maybe 30hp is an absolute best case scenario

Please do your research. The body style is 2019 Classic done in special edition Ignition Orange. And what is it if its not a Dodge???

@@dynomiteperformance what he is saying is that it’s technically a RAM Ram 1500. I believe after 2010 Ram became its own brand it’s all wording, in the end they’re the same damn trucks lol. Appreciate the video I’ve been considering these exact upgrades as I was looking for a little more power for fun and helping some with towing. I’ll be doing all this plus some shorties.

@@dynomiteperformance aftermarket cold air intakes require a tuning after, not to mention it only increases the HP about 1-1.5% if that.
