put the mazda in the 4th gear if you want to overtake someone. I would chose mazda 3 every day of the week over the focus and corolla, even over the golf...

Since we only get the most powerful engine in the U.S. (2.5l 186hp/186tq) and the Focus has gone bye bye, the Mazda 3 wins hands down here as well. The Corolla hatchback may be the best Corolla since the rwd AE86 models of the late 80's, but the barely useable rear seats and tiny, shallow cargo hold kills it's practicality for me. Kudos to Toyota offering a manual trans though, and unlike the Mazda 3 (in the US) its availble in something other than the top trim level.

Mazda3 for the win, and I find the Mazda the best driving vehicle, the steering is lovely. And get the skyactiv X engine if buying the Mazda, much better engine, which gives decent economy.

having a cvt mimik conventional transmission changes completely defeats the purpose of the technology. Since its less reliable than torque converter or double clutch systems youre better off not having a cvt at all if it does that.

I guess the upside to the corolla is that it barley used the CVT at lower speeds as it drives on electric power most of the time.

I've driven all of them and this proves people care only about the looks which is baffling to me. It's a car not a pretty picture that you're gonna hang on the wall. Focus has the most space and is the best to drive, Corolla is at least fuel-efficient and not terrible to drive, but Mazda?...slow, cramped, worst infotainment (once again to use not to look at)...

if we’re talking about reliability, i would only choose between Toyota and Mazda. If about driving experience or handlinh, i would choose Mazda. If about exterior and interior design, i would choose Mazda. If about safety, bells and whistles, i would choose Mazda. If about performance, i would choose Civic.

Ford has really bad quality , my friend bought a brand new focus back in year 2012, the Transmission drivers like crab , worst auto Transmission i have ever driven !
