The original starter on my Accord V6 died at 100K miles. I replaced it myself and could either put in a remanufactured Denso for $200 or a new AC Delco for $130. I got the AC Delco and 75K later it's still been working.

my vehicle is at 180k with original starter, mazda made in japan. Pretty sure its also denso but qc in japan is so much better

Auto idle stop kills starters. I've owed several Hondas and have never replaced a starter. Always turn of auto idle stop.

Some new Toyota’s when a set number of auto-stop cycles are reached will require a replacement of the starter. Maybe other carmakers did this too and this car reached its number.

Same with Hondas with idle stop. You have to reset the idle stop counter when you replace the starters.

Great video!! I just recently purchased a 24 4Runner and it makes a wineing noise when accelerating.Does your 4runner do this and is this normal?

Yea it did it brand new when I first got it especially in the morning when it's cold I'm planning to change out the 75w85 oil out for 75w90 to see if it makes a difference.

I'm roughly at 20k kms on my 4runner been using the Tacoma more before I trade it in. 62k kms on the taco

Lol just today replacing a starter on a passport the positive for the battery cable on the new OEM starter wasn't even attached. And brand new OEM starter on a 10th gen civic would just spin intermittently and not engage after installing it.

@@theoffroadingmechanic Wow that's worse than Chevy. We do a ton of them on the last gen Silverados but I've never had one bad out of the box

I have owned half dozen Accords from the 80s and 90s and never once replaced the starter. Last decade or so I have heard so many owners replaced starters, alternators and engines on Hondas. Quality is downhill with Honda.

@@theoffroadingmechanic ya their earlier turbocharged v6 (like when it first came out) had a lot of turbo failures and then issues with oil pressure if you did not use the correct oil filter
