Great video! I was looking for that info in particular! Is it working the same way on 2021 models? Also, do you know what is the speed range that is allowed? (like what minimum speed would the LKA turn on?) Thank you

I have the 2019 Kia Forte with a standard transmission and I have it as well. I noticed recently that it hasn’t been on. I found your video. I’m thinking somehow the button got pushed to turn it off. I forgot there was a button. Lol. I went thru the menu for options and see that everything looks set to ON. I’ll have to check the dash button. Other than that, I’m not sure why it wouldn’t be working.
@BrantfordKia3 жыл бұрын
So, there are settings in your dash, but the most common reason for the system to be off is because of the button to the left side of the steering wheel. The system also is inactive below 60 km per hour.

Hi, little update. I saw another dealer and he determined that it was not normal behavior. Gave me an appointment for Jun 13, but on the way home it started acting up (vibrating, stock in position 1, then no power at all) sent it to the dealer and need to change transmission. THX

Can you merge into the next lane to pass with Lane Keeping Assist ON?
@BrantfordKia4 жыл бұрын
Great question! Even though Lane Keeping Assist is capable of steering the vehicle, you can always steer past the assist function, so in an emergency situation, you just take control of the car and steer where you need to go. In a non-emergency situation, you simply signal your lane change and the system turns off while signalling, allows you to switch lanes, and then when the signal turns off, the car looks for the new lane and resumes seamlessly.

I’m sorry if you already answered this but what is the difference between standard lane keep assist vs active lane keep assist? Is active just more aggressive and standard is a little more lenient? Thank you in advance
@BrantfordKia3 жыл бұрын
Essentially, yes. They have moved from that to Lane Keep Assist and Lane Follow Assist now. Lane Keep assist sees the lane markers, and Lane Follow Assist can work even when the lane markers are not very visible. It can create an artificial lane marker to hold the car in the lane, and it can also use cars in front as a reference.

What is the difference between Active LKA and Standard LKA?
@BrantfordKia4 жыл бұрын
On this particular model, the Active LKA keeps you centered in the lane. In later models, the Lane Following Assist performs that function.

can you explain what the difference is between Lane Keep assist and Lane change assist? having a having a hard time finding that info on kias website
@BrantfordKia5 жыл бұрын
Kia's don't have Lane Change Assist. Lake Keep assist keeps you in the lane. It has two settings. One steers you back in the lane as you approach the markings, the other keeps you centred in the lane. You can also turn the system off completely.

Brantford Kia Hi. Just bought a GT Cerato (we call it that here in Australia, you call it a Forte). I've tried the menu settings for the LKA, and see only the one setting for the LKA - the one that steers you back into the lane. I'd really like to know how to set the LKA to the other 'active' mode. Love your vids, btw.

@@supercededman Interesting. I'm less familiar with the Cerato… it's possible that it has different settings than our Forte. @@BrantfordKia have you completed this video yet? We have a Cerato GT Hatch. The manual is written for every model....550 pages. I am SO sick of "if equipped". Don't even know which "instrument cluster" we have. Somewhere I would like clear instructions on what is in my model - how to set it up - and how to operate it! One would THINK that would be easy.... Love Kia though. We have just moved from a 9 yr old lime green Cerato Koupe - Kermit. Best car I have ever had - not a foot wrong ever. However getting older and the automatic seat settings in the GT was a clincher even though the seats are really too big for me at 5'2". (Mind you - the best seat for small women drivers like me, is the Stinger with the settable front roll. Why doesn't Kia set these seats for smaller people - especially women in all their cars?) Looking forward to videos demonstrating the settings - User Options!

@BrantfordKia5 жыл бұрын
The best thing to do is to check your owner's manual for information about Lane Keeping Assist. That should give you the best information on how the system operates in your car. There should be settings in the centre of your control panel under either Lane Keeping Assist, or Driver Assistance to change the settings, and there will be a button in the car to turn the system on or off.

does this work with smart cruise control? so it would stop, go, and turn on it’s own? i’m trying to get as close to a tesla as i can get it, without spending the money for a tesla 😂 thanks
@BrantfordKia4 жыл бұрын
So if you get a Kia with "Smart Cruise Control with Stop and Go" it will have the ability to work in stop and go traffic. Lane Keeping will work with that, but you need to be travelling over 60 km/h for Lane Keeping to activate. If you're looking for that "near Tesla experience" these two features really do get you close, and they do that at an affordable price.
@mistamilk48834 жыл бұрын
Brantford Kia Thank you! So I need to keep my hands on the wheel and manually drive, just no pedals in stop and go traffic ?
@mistamilk48834 жыл бұрын
Brantford Kia wait so does lane keeping deactivate if you have smart cruise control on too and you start to slow down??
@BrantfordKia4 жыл бұрын
@@mistamilk4883 So Lane Keeping is only designed to work when your hands are on the wheel. (it senses if you let the wheel go and won't let you go for long without your hands on the wheel) so yes, if you drop below 60 km/h, the light that indicates that Lane Keeping is actively keeping you in your lane, will turn from green to white. The green tells you that the car is actively steering the vehicle. When the light goes white, the system is ready to activate, but isn't actively steering the vehicle. So if you're using smart cruise, and the vehicle slows down, you'll simply notice the light change from green to white.

any issues with the steering locking up while turning ???
@BrantfordKia4 жыл бұрын
The system doesn't work below 60 km/h so you have no intervention at all at those speeds. Separately, even if you do have to steer past the assist, it just feels like your going over a small hump in the road. You can easily steer past the assist, there is no "lock", the driver is in control of the car, and able to steer for themselves at any time. Finally, you can turn the system off completely if you're driving on a road where you don't want it active. Once you turn it off, it stays off until you turn it on again, even if you turn the car off and on again. I hope that helps!

In the Lane Keeping menu, there should be an option for Lane Departure warning, and then Standard?? and then Active... the active setting is the one that will help centre the car in the lane as long as all the proper conditions are met. I'm not sure what to tell you. Maybe stop by your dealer to see if they can show you.
@andymckay55513 жыл бұрын
First thing you want to do is turn the damned thing off, especially annoying and indeed dangerous for example as you veer (not speed, just veer) into a bend deliberately closer to the lane edge and find you have to wrestle the steering wheel. Maybe it's an old school thing but if I'm driving I want full control. Before I encountered this I wasn't aware there was such a "feature" and got quite the fright as the steering pulled, more likely to cause an accident than avoid.
@BrantfordKia3 жыл бұрын
I strongly disagree with your statement. It absolutely adds safety. It does need to be explained to people so that they're aware, but what I've found is that most people are willing to give it a chance, and after a week or so, almost without fail, people tell me how much they like it. I'll acknowledge that it's not for everyone, but I disagree when you say that it's dangerous.
@andymckay55513 жыл бұрын
@@BrantfordKia We can agree to disagree even if strongly. I don't doubt that many will and do like this, in fact from one study I've read 73% are in favor. For my part not being initially aware of this feature and the resulting shock first experience may have tainted my view. I get the theory behind it and there may even be empirical evidence to support a safety argument but I can't now bring myself to like this, so for me it's a distracting annoyance I can do without and therefor band with the minority for whom it's a no.
@BrantfordKia3 жыл бұрын
@@andymckay5551 that's a very fair statement. I never know who I'm dealing with in the comment section. I just wanted to make sure that I address the opinion that it wasn't safe.
