Conrado has been in the San Diego area the last couple of weeks and I've had the chance to play doubles against him. Nice, nice guy, fun to play and mind boggling speed. It's a real experience to be on the court with him.

12:22 maybe someone better than me in racquetball can explain this to me: why after all those good shots in the rally does Carson hit such an easy set up for Moscoso? The last ball Carson hits is a cross court pass that comes off the wall by half-court giving Moscoso an easy set up at the front wall at which point he correctly puts it away flat. First bounce on that cross court was past the encroachment line. I just see it happen so often, which is why I wonder.

Reaction time. In the moment of the rally you don’t get much time to decide on best shot selections.

@59:37 Rocky took a full swing and wanted a replay? I don't think so. @1:02:05 Rocky interfered with his back-swing on a setup off the back wall.
@rcdixon763 жыл бұрын
Rocky made body contact and followthrough contact which means replay. The ball didn't make the front wall because he abbreviated his swing as a courtesy. 1:02:05, Moscoso wasn't even close to the ball -- big left step away from ball into Rocky and put his arm. Even the commentators said something on that one. Funny.

uhmm...racquetball is definitely for people who can't play squash. what a rubbish sport

@@adriandingle8640 I take it back. Racquetball is NOT a sport! All I see is a bunch of monkeys jumping up and down in the court. It is so unrefined it's unbelievable that these guys are "professionals" in the so-called sport. Just found out that Rocky Carson was a World Champion in racquetball!!!
@yc66835 жыл бұрын
Dodgeek and Adrain Dingle, You two sound so stupid whith that comment. Do you think any of those racquetball players are incapable of playing squash if they wanted to? I am sure that if Rocky Carson picks a squash racquet and get the basics of the game he will kick the crap out of you. Where are you locted? I hope close to me (Miami, Florida, USA) so that maybe we could play some racquetball. You should be able to beat me since you can play squash. I have play racquetball for 35 years and I am pretty confident that I could play squash if I wanted to. It is not a matter of can't but of want. I prefer the high speed, power and fast pace of racquetball which is the reason we use faster balls and shorter racquets. To each his own. You are happy playing squash. Let others be happy playing whatever sport they want to play. Are you also going to say derrogatory remarks about handball, tennis, pickleball, badmington, table tennis, etc? Don't be so narrow minded and enjoy all the liberties we have. I choose to play racquetball. So, don't behave stupidly and ignorantly. Faults could be found with squash according with the eye of the beholder: not being able to have the element of surprise when serving, not being able to use the ceiling and the sidewall like in racquetball, the lack of effective passing shots because the squash racquet is so long. If you want to be grace and finnese become a ballerina.

@@yc6683 I'm so sorry you're offended but still doesn't change my opinion. Have you seen rallies in tennis, table tennis and badminton? There's shed loads of finesse in all these games especially table tennis - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/oNGViLRom9u6qGg.html. I've tried watching this video again and again and it bores me to death. Most points are won with 1-2 shots tops! I think the camera recorded more minutes of players walking around than playing the ball. Racquetball is not fast paced. If anything, most players look so unfit. Watch this to understand what a fast paced rally is - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/eryhfrpi1MidhX0.html . Try to see how players dance around each other (just like ballet!). Then maybe try playing squash or Squash57 (racketball played on a squash court) and see if you can last a far shorter rally. One of the key problems with racquetball is that there's no line at the front wall. Half the time you probably can't tell if the ball hit the floor first before hitting the front wall and it also causes the rally to be far shorter because it is so easy to hit a nick. In squash, you need to hit front wall first and hope the ball lands between the wall and floor to get a nick. Squash racquets are only longer by about 9cm (3.5 inches) and the ball is much smaller. You can hit the sidewall as well. If a player can win half the game just by hitting great serves then it is a game not worth playing because I don't want to pay for court time to stand still more than half the time. Next time you are at your club, try squash but try learning from a coach first because there are a lot of rubbish squash players out there. And search for "PSA squash" on KZfaq to find quality squash matches and compare that against what you see here.

@@yc6683 And check this out. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/d5-jgdGH2cetYoU.html . I think there are more shots in 1 squash rally compared to the number of shots in the entire racquetball match. And if you want to appreciate a full match, here's 1 hour 20 minutes of it. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ebmVhpx_nNqydIU.html . And another featuring 2 of the best players in the world: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/r857ltNjttbIeWg.html I play at a decent club level and I would be lucky to get a point off anyone of these top players. So forgive me if I have a slightly skewed view of how a world class sport and champion looks like.
