Really good review, without a doubt the best review on YT for a LeverGym, I've been using LeverGyms for the past 6 years, I currently have the PowerTec Multipress, the reason I went to this over the one you have is because the lever arms are positioned lower on the frame, this leads to a more natural pressing motion from the flat position, the ATX Triplex is like the one you have but with the lever arms positioned lower on the frame.

@@HomeGymHacksandReviews Yes I've the 2019 Multipress with the additional lever arm setting points, it makes a huge difference to getting your starting position just right, the ATX/MegaTec version has the same multiple pin selections, they were designed by the same team, the version you have is much more functional than the Multipress, I added the lat/cable tower attachment which fits to the end of the bench, its stronger than I thought it would be, although I do prefer the pulley system on your version, its much smoother in use.

@@HomeGymHacksandReviews I might do a review of it, I really like the mid-row option with footplate, I drop the bench into a decline position and do cable rows from there, it takes the pressure off my lower back, I'm quite a levergym fan-boy, I sold off my rack and smith machine a few weeks ago as I wasn't using it enough, I've found over the last 6 years that a lever for flat and shoulder presses just works better for me, I feel that I get more out of the lever than a barbell, plus there are so many things that you can do on the levergym, they are a great all round piece of gym kit.

I had the multip press and loved it, minus no support for the dip as it wobbled, but I didn’t like the shoulder press as the seat didn’t go back far enough either, hoping this one is better for that and I can use the box hack for flag press
@HomeGymHacksandReviews
@HomeGymHacksandReviews 2 жыл бұрын
I really liked both Multipresses I had, but I think the Levergym is easier to find the “right” position especially on things like shoulder presses. Also, if you have not tried it, I think facing the Levergym works as good, if not better, than facing away for shoulder presses. The box hack will make a world of difference for your flat press. Let me know how it goes.

I’ve been aware of power tec since it first hit the US market, since then I’ve had multiple gym memberships, used friends garage gyms and now have my own garage gym, I just got a power tec lever gym like yours and you are absolutely correct on how versatile it is!!! Wish I would have got one sooner, also thank you for showing alternative way’s to use the power tec!!! That’s been very useful for me to learn how to maximum all the gyms capabilities!!!!

Thank you very, very much for your great reviews on this equipment. Took the plunge and ordered to replace my Marcy 9010 smith machine a couple weeks ago, and it has been a ridiculously great upgrade. The tip on using the exercise handles on rows with the lever arms is revolutionary for me. The thing I've missed most about going to the gym has been chest supported heavy rows. Powertec should be slinging you some cash for referrals!

Thorough review. Thank you. I have lots of old injuries that haunt me now, and I’ve had to make several adjustments to how I train. After a bunch of research I decided to purchase the Powertec LeverGym. It’s great because I can really overload the muscles with this machine without feeling like I’m antagonizing old injuries. It’s very much like the Hammer Strength plate-loaded leverage machines I’ve used for years in commercial gyms. Great workout! However, I will say that people who have a good amount of experience strength training probably won’t like the feel of the cable pulley on this machine. A plate-loaded pulley feels very different than a plate stack pulley. I discovered pretty quickly that I did not like how the cable pulley feels on this machine, plus I decided I wanted the ability to have two cable pulleys for certain exercise movements like flies, crossovers, etc., so I ended up purchasing another machine to give me that feature/function. Now I wish I would have purchased the PowerTec WorkBench instead of the LeverGym because then it would just be the lever arms and bench without the cable pulley. That said, for a space saving home gym machine that can really provide some great exercise movements and the ability to really overload the muscles, this is a fantastic option!

Thank you! I am really glad to hear you like the Levergym. I’ve had two Multipress machines and even if I didn’t use the pulley on the Levergym, I would still take the Levergym over the Multipress because I have the option to remove the bench which creates the ability to do a lot more exercises. Also, I have never really noticed anything I dislike about the cable function of the Levergym. Of course, it’s not as fast as a plate stack to adjust the weight, but I think it’s smooth and consistent. However, I certainly agree with you that a dual cable is more advantageous than a single cable in most circumstances.

@HomeGymHacksandReviews
@HomeGymHacksandReviews 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Watch my third installment in my Levergym series. I do not like flat pressing on the Levergym unless the bench is elevated. Without elevating the bench, the movement is very unnatural. It’s a little tough to answer your question. I see the free weight bench press as it’s own movement and the Levergym bench press as its own movement. One can complement the other. But they won’t feel the same because of all the accessory muscles and technique required to bench with a barbell.

Great video! Thanks. Question: how much room is needed from the wall to allow the rear weight horns to move upwards?
@HomeGymHacksandReviews
@HomeGymHacksandReviews 3 жыл бұрын
It depends on the plates you are using. Just shy of 2 ft if you are using 45s. When I had this machine against the wall, I would use 25s and 35s (rather than 45s) so it wouldn’t stick out so far.

Thanks for the video. Question: Without the bench how far does the Levergym stick out ? Also does the Levergym come with that Bench centering piece that attaches to the Levergym and the bench hooks into it ?
@HomeGymHacksandReviews
@HomeGymHacksandReviews 3 жыл бұрын
Without the bench, the Levergym has a depth of approx 45”. However, the Levergym needs to be approx 2’ away from the wall to account for the arm that swings up when using the pulley system. If you use 25s and 35s, you can get the LG a little closer to the wall. Yes, it comes with the connector.

Thank you! I’ve never used the body-solid, but in looking at some of its features, it does have a greater weight capacity, the arms can be used for pull-ups. Just so you know. I've added up to 500lb on the lat pulldown and 610lb on the press lever and I've done this much more than once. I own the older version of this machine which has the same weight rating as the new ones. Trust me, these can handle much more than they're rated for. Do it at your own risk, though lol I don't know how much more the lever can take before reaching structural failure. I've also used the squat bar for the 610lb weight load, too, which supposedly can only handle up to 300lb.

Have you ever figured out the weight ratio difference from a leverage loaded machine compared to a weight stack? For example 200lbs lat pulldown on leverage system compared to 200lbs with a weight stack? Same? 200lbs is 200lbs or is it less with one or the other? Just curious.
@HomeGymHacksandReviews
@HomeGymHacksandReviews 3 жыл бұрын
I am not sure the exact ratio, and it’s on an arc so the resistance curve changes through the movement. It is easier than a traditional vertical stack. So, for example, my pulldown numbers are stronger on the Levergym.

Hi HGHR, I was wondering how much weight you have to leave on the machine to keep it stable? What movements can you get away with without any plates on the weight horns for stability? Is the option to remove the weight horn to overcome the lowest lever arm position from bumping into the weight horn? In Canada, they are selling the Ironax levergym, which seems to be almost an exact clone of Powertect levergym, do you have any insight about the quality of this product? Do you see any potential differences? What about the bodysolid leverage gym? thanks

At the moment, I don’t have any weight on the storage posts and it seems fine…as long as it’s on a perfectly flat surface (some spots in my garage don’t allow it to sit perfectly flat). It looks exactly the same. Pretty sure it’s the same quality. It the lever arms are rated for 500 pounds and the cable system at 300, it’s likely exactly the same. Body Solid looks decent but the arms don’t work independently.

Regarding the Soloflex piece to make squats safer, I wouldn't want to do squats on there in place of barbell squats, but that would make a great home gym finisher at the end of a leg workout.

@@HomeGymHacksandReviews Yes. I'd do the pendulum version as a main movement. I like the simplicity and safety of the Soloflex bar with a regular movement pattern as a finisher - just go crazy for a high rep set to failure. I love the Hammer Strength Leg Press for the same reasons.

Hey Bro: i want to purchase this unit along with the pec fly and leg press attachment but currently have a Rogue squat rack and an Ironmaster cable tower and an Ironmaster 2000 unit, and plus because of your review I have the powertec streamline functional trainer on the way. I think there will be a lot of overlap between these units and take up a lot of my outdoor backyard gym setup and therefore I think it would be prudent for me to get rid of/sell a couple of the units I currently have such as the Rogue squat rack and Ironmaster cable tower. The Ironmaster 2000 functions both as a smith machine and free weight unit. You mentioned in some of your videos that you've sold at different times various units you've acquired. I would appreciate your guidance on where and how to sell the Rogue unit and Ironmaster cable tower unit. Thanks.

Thank you! I have to be honest, I usually regret selling my pieces and end up buying the same piece or if enough time has lapsed, I’ll buy the newest model. If you have the space and have the funds, I’d keep everything. A lot of times, I cycle my exercises. So for a month, or two, or even three, I might do incline presses on the Levergym, when I plateau , I’ll do incline presses on the smith machine. At some point, I’ll come back to incline presses on the Levergym. But, if you want to sell equipment, Facebook marketplace is usually a pretty good bet. From time-to-time, I’ll have good luck on Craigslist.

@@HomeGymHacksandReviews that's a great point. I can always dismantle those units and store them away to accommodate the new units and then after using the new units for a time assess whether to keep the old units or sell them. @@HomeGymHacksandReviews , are there any nuanced differences in feel of this unit compared to the multi-press unit in terms of performing pressing exercises, particularly chest? I think I read in the comments section of one of your reviews about this unit where someone mentioned that there was a difference between the grip handles of this unit and the multi press and that the multi press was more designed for pressing and had a better range of motion and targeting of the chest. If there are no differences then the levergym unit wil be in the cart. If not, then the multi press and I'll keep my Ironmaster cable tower unit for the high and low pulleys features. Trying to make the best decision. Lol! Machines that function as a jack of all trades but master of none is not satisfying. Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks and a happy 4th to you.

@@cjackman74 this is a tough call. The arms’ attachment point is lower on the Multipress; therefore, the flat press will feel more natural than the flat press on the LG; this is why I elevate the bench when doing flat presses on the LG. I had two of the older model multi presses which didn’t have all the different settings the newer model does, so I am sure the newer model is much better than the models I had. As far as differences in distance between handles, there shouldn’t be much of a difference. When I got the LG this most recent time, I was deciding between the newest MP and the newest LG. I ultimately went with the LG because I can detach the bench from the arms and I decided I would sale my high / low pulley that attached to the Powertec Power Rack. With the PT Bench, I will tell you it’s hard to do decline press on the LG because your head will hit the lower pulley, that is why I do declines with my old school bench. If all you want it for is decline, flat, incline, and seated overhead press, the Multipress is probably the better option. If you want an all-in-one, then go with the LG. I definitely don’t think the LG falls into the category of, “jack of all trades, master of none.” Also, if you get the MP, it still has the option to add all the attachments. I hope this helps.

Thanks for the great review and ideas that made up my mind on this. ADD THIS HACKFOR MANY MORE OPTIONS: Just got it and I wanted higher holes too, so I slid the hole plates up 4 holes higher, aligned it as best I could and tightened it all up as far apart as possible (4 holes I think). Works great, high enough to do pullups and hanging ab work now! Should not be an issue with strength as the bolts are in shear in any case and wont suffer other loads, however the highest pin location may be off the edge of the lever protective rubber pads. Just on the edge of mine now. Add a piece of rubber and some zip ties if needed.

@@stansmith5610 the full range of motion of a shoulder press is beyond 90º, flat was good. I didn't say it as a diss or criticism but as advice. This type of machine can actually help people correct their form and improve as they make it easier to do the full range of motion with heavier weights without unbalances or risk of dropping the weights. They are awesome machines. One problem they have is flat is not actually flat but slightly declined if you look at the movement of the weight. To get a good flat people need to adjust the bench to the first incline level and push the iniciail of the movement a bit up. Then the movement becomes perfect flat press
