After owning the Chevy for almost 2 years and being on the road full time touring Australia for a year and a half, we feel we are ready to give you the run down on what it's REALLY like owning an American truck in Australia. A large, lifted, and heavily modified 4x4 tourer. In this video we answer all of your questions and then some. We built this Chevrolet Silverado 2500Hd to suit our full time touring needs. Let us run you through it all from the very beginning - why we chose an American truck, specifically the Silverado, how much it cost, insurance, what mods we've done and why, the pro's and con's plus heaps more.

What a rig, I’ve been waiting a long time for this run down, great work. People make me laugh when asking about fuel consumption, its 9+ tonne and does it easily, yes its going use more fuel but worth every cent for the comfort and vehicle longevity. Keep up the great work and hope to see you on the road one day for a cold beer or two.

You guys rock so thank you for putting this out there for everyone. We are both behavioural dog trainers and will be touring and filming as we go. We already live stream our dog training and love it so the intention is to run workshops all around the country and just have a riot!

We have had a Silverado 2500 for a couple of years now, we got ours 2nd hand with less than 100k on the clock, it was probably a bit before we actually needed it but it was a good buy. Its been rated LR also. For us it’s knowing that we are legal weight wise, love our exhaust brake also, towing with a vehicle that has power in reserve if it is required. We have a Metalink Canopy with lithium setup and a Bushman upright fridge. Extra fuel tank and 100 litres of water. Not as glamorous as yours but we are happy with it. It has enabled us to get our new Sunseeker (same layout as your last van) specked up to a 4.5tn ATM so we have added extra water tanks. Just need to pry my husband away from the business #SuncoastCaravanService and hit the road, sooner rather than later. Enjoy your travels guys 🥰

I friggen love your Chev. The fact American trucks are being seen every day now shows how popular they are becoming. They truly are changing the game of touring here in Australia. We bought maxtrax today. We went to BCF to buy run of the mill recovery tracks and walked out with maxtrax. Always wondered why the Aussies didn't run American-made trucks. I've always had a Chevy 2500-3500 trucks. Currently getting ready a 2015 2500 crew cab long bed 4 x 4 on flex-fuel/regular gas. Just had a Fab4 Prerunner front bumper installed with Warn Winch, lightbar, and 4 spot lamps. Looking at an all-aluminum utility truck bed for all the camping gear, floor jack, jack stands, fishing poles, shovels, rakes, compressor, generator, etc. and everything else that will fit in all the compartments, rack on top for the SUPs. I needed the open part of the bed so I can load a couple dual-sport motorcycles. And last but not least, towing a Black Series HQ19. Only Aussie made off-road travel trailer here in the states and their showroom is 45 minutes from my house.

The Allison 10 speed (10L1000) in the Silverado and the Ford 10 speed (10R140) in the Super Duty were co-developed (Allison and Ford). After a few minor teething problems the transmission seems pretty bulletproof. The HD trucks (2500 and up) are a huge step up from the class 2A trucks (150/1500).

Great setup. Mariam is Chris compensating for being small? With all his “jack-off” canopy and other items I think he maybe over compensating a tad. These vehicles are perfectly suited for towing just a shame the price of them is Aus is over twice of American market.
