Volvo recommends changing the oil every 10,000 miles on this car. To get Volvo-recommended oil in the U.S. there is only one option that I have found, and that is fcpeuro.com where they have easy, pre-assembled kits for most services you will need to perform.
After the oil change, I sent a sample off to blackstone-labs.net and had it tested.

Good video, thanks. One remark. The oil level on display is not that quick in response. The car needs to be driven for some time to get a reading. It’s not a level sensor like for window cleaning water.

I didn't know that, they aren't very clear on it in the manual. Thanks

Nice helpful video. If you get the 40,000 mile kit from FCP euro, it comes with coolant for drain/fill and brake fluids flush. Would appreciate a video on those two procedures as well. thanks.

It’s not funny to see that the right oil is hard to get in the USA. Here in the EU there’s about 10/15 brands that offer the Volvo oil specs, wide range… from 5w40 to 0w20.

I don't know what makes the Volvo spec so different. Maybe the zinc content? I'm tempted to switch to the Motul I run in my other cars.

@@pg41226 It depends! In my city in Hungary most of the people have 20 years old cars and the majority of the shops sell 10w40 and 5w30 oils. So good luck here as well if you want a VOLVO APPROVED 0w20 😀

@@attilakocsis-savanya6607 unfortunately I am selling my 2014 D4 volvo, but the motor is great and there is 0 oil consumption. I always bought 20L of Ravenol EFS EcoFullSynth. SAE 0W-20 which is, to my knowledge after consulting experts and comparing actual datasheets, superior to all competitors, including the original Castrol Edge oil. It's 14,5€ per liter, so not cheap, but you can get it in the 20L bag-in-box (great system) on black friday once a year for 10€/liter. If I would still drive that car, I would actually buy 10L boxes of Mannol Legend Formula C5 0W-20 - it has the Volvo spec and costs 4,2€ per liter. I would just use that and change more often, with an easy oil drain plug. The thing is, you notice when you have fresh oil, you save Diesel and it runs smoother and quicker. That wears off even with the best oil (usually a bit later). I'd go for cheaper (but still the required spec!) oil, even more changes.

I could not find the right Castrol in the US either - I’ve used the regular Castrol edge several times, but now I’m using the FCP stuff.

You probably won't believe this, but... ...I went to Sears about 20 years ago to buy a set, but they didn't have any. A guy I was talking to in the store said he had a set in his truck he would sell me for $15. So I don't know who makes them, but that's the story.

Wow...I was just thinking the Volvo might be to low specially the front bumper, to go up regular ramps like the rhino plastic ramps or even the ones that sell at harbor freight.

I have jack stands. However this car looks way different than others underneath. Where can I put my stands? Where are these points?

There are jacking points with a plastic pad covering them. You should check your manual for locations.

@@DIYEVERYTHING Yes, but I don't mean the jack coming with the car. It is for elevating. I mean the jack stands what you put under ut after you have elevated the car. Its shape is different.

All oils have pros and cons. What I know for sure is that I just got the Blackstone report for my 50,000-mile oil change and everything was well within acceptable conditions with no abnormal signs of wear.
