2017 speakers have a more even tone. You can hear fuller bass. New 2019 speakers are a smidge louder, but missing a bit of bass to even out those scratchy notes at full blast.

Id like to see a more in depth cpu performance test. What are loading times in affinity designer/photo on large canvases and how long does it take to run the exports. How long are compile times for software? Cinebench tells me absolutely nothing in terms of power

Anty855 i5 8259U and i5 8357U are almost identical in terms of processing power. As geekbench shows both are in the ~4700 region on the single core score and ~17000 on the multi core score.

Good video, but you're missing the all important thermal performance. While doing your tests what is the internal temperature, case temperature, fan speed, fan noise and ambient room temperature when the tests were conducted. According to iFixit the heat pipe is smaller in this new MacBook.

When people say Apple is impressive that the geekbench multiscore is double the score, when it’s literally because they used a chip that doubled the cores from 2 to 4.

What is the antenna layout? The $1800 machine has 3 x 3 mimo which means a lot more wireless bandwidth/speed. Does the new base machine also have the same wifi layout/speed or is it the same as the MacBook Air i.e. 2 x 2 mimo?

Can anyone tell me the difference with the 15" 2017 Pro and the 16" 2019 Pro? Just looked on Argos and the 2017 is on for £2499 but the 2019 is on for £2399? The specs are the same, I thought the newer would be more expensive

Could you maybe do a comparison that includes the 2014 15” MacBook Pro by any chance? Coming from an older machine, sometimes it’s really hard to know how much of an upgrade you’re truly getting. Just looking at Geekbench and Cinebench scores doesn’t really say much.

The 256gb version went up $100 AUD here. The ESC key MBP is what we use for mobile coding, I had to always remap the caps lock key to esc on my 15" touch bars. Hated it.

I bought my 2017 MacBook Pro in Fall 2017 and it has the Touch Bar. The 2018 came out I think maybe a few months later the following year and meh. I’m good. I’m gonna keep mine for the next few years until I’m ready to get an iMac for my house. What I don’t understand is why mine cost 1799 but the base model is starting so much lower. Maybe I need to pull out my box and see which one I have.

Felipe Melo as far as I know, they don’t ask for much proof. All you probably need is a college ID and email to confirm but I haven’t made my purchase yet.

Does it make sense to buy the 2017 base model instead of the newer one if it is 20% off? I really can't decide whether to pay full price for the newest model or not. Not using it for productivity, so I don't need the newest processor, but the old keyboard still worries me.

I bought a MacBook Pro 2019, 2 Thunderbolt ports, I use the computer for Auto CAD and for the university, I got the laptop new for 999 euros (exhibit), is it worth it to invest in a MacBook Pro 2020 for 1200 euros with the better one Magic Keyboard? I want to benefit from this investment for as long as possible, so stay with the 2019 model or upgrade in the 2020 model (not the M1 chip)

Hey Max, earlier you made a video comparing the Dell XPS 13 (9380) vs Macbook Pro 13. From then I was really considering buying the Dell XPS because for the same price the benchmark performance was much better overall (when plugged in). Now seeing the massive improvements made in the Macbook and comparing the Benchmarks to the other video I'm really considering chaning my mind. I just have one question, is the Benchmarks in this video while the Macpro is not charging?

I use an iphone. Im gonna get a refurbished macbook. But im suuper confused about what to get. Three choices are: 1) macbook air 256gb 2019 model 2) 128gb macbook pro 2019 3) 2017 macbook pro without touch bar 128gb Price isnt a problem between these for me im just highly confused at this point because i can go with any of these. Depends on how often you need to video edit and what type of footage you’re editing. I think the $1299 2019 model might be good enough to edit basic 4K like for KZfaq videos. We’ll test it soon. -Vadim

Could you do a comparison between the 2019 base model vs the mid 2018 2.3ghz tb MacBook Pro?

If you look at the charts, I included the 2018 $1799 MacBook Pro as well. The new 2019 $1299 model is basically neck and neck with that machine, but we'll have to test thermal throttling. -Vadim

Weirdest thing happened and I should ask you guys what will happen, but first great video. So I literally ordered a macbook pro on the reveal day but it was done through HR in my company (the 1299, 13 inch model), and hours later I found out that apple changed the whole lineup to erase the 12 inch model and upgrade the Pro and the Air, do you think I'll receive the 2017 model or the 2019? The HR personnel don't even remember which one they purchased they just picked the price range I was comfortable with.

Apple might swap it themselves. Make sure to check the label on the back and the product number and processor listed on the sticker. If it’s the only model, don’t open the box. Keep it sealed and return it for the new one. -Vadim
