2019 Yokohama World Time Attack Challenge, Sydney Motorsport Park - October 18-19, 2019

The pursuit for that ‘One Perfect Lap’ resumes for 2019, as Sydney Motorsport Park plays host to the tenth anniversary edition of the Yokohama World Time Attack Challenge. The best tuning houses and drivers are keen to beat Barton Mawer and the RP968 Porsche, as they attempt to make it back to back Time Attack titles.

It’s 2022 and I’m still watching the guys from Finland with the 1:1 r8 perfect it. Time attack is the best, I love the creative freedom these guys can have.

Some of them have very low road clearance and then there is the risk of hillclimbs (narrow and unforgiving) and the low reward of winning it, plus the big spread of hillclimbs in the world, incurring a large shipping budget.

Jan Berlucchi one of the US time attack civic entered the pike peaks but they had to add weight for safety purposes, slowing the car

Someone please help me out here. Ive never understood the thing with time attack, or more so why its almost only time attack cars that have so big and obnoxious spoilers and splitters. The goal in almost every motorsport is to get the fastest time around the track so why doesn't the other motorsports like rally also have really big splitters and spoilers. I probably sound really stupid but im quite new to the car scene so i whould appreciate it if you guy helped me

so the reason mainly is rules. In time attack theres different classes pro open class and am open class is what u will see with massive wings and other crazy parts and as u go down the classes u have more closer to street cars. Rally if u had to big if wings and stuff u might rip of over say a jump or something. the main reason is the rule books guve u parameters that u must follow have what we call balance of performance between cars

Because they are doing racing around a set tarmac track, not on a bumpy dirt rally stage. They put it on in time attack because they need the downforce in the straights and they need stability in cornering, in rally they do put splitters and wings on but they are generally smaller than the time attack aero due to the fact that they can pretty easily be damaged or ripped off in the course of driving through a hectic and potentially very bumpy rally stage.

The way this thing is presented is just awful. Generic background music blocking the sound of the cars, and only showing like 5-10 second snippets of cars on their laps here and there. Why not just show the fastest lap of each car with no stupid music and some less commentating? Stick some dramatic moments between the laps and you've got a great video people would enjoy watching.

Seriously, whoever decided this is how it needed to be edited, obviously forgot the Ritalin that day. Sorry guys, but this has to be a thumbs down, purely on the basis that this is one of the most poorly edited shitshows I've seen in a while.
