We review Brian's 2020 Chevy Bolt. Why has he had TWO of them and potentially a 3rd on the way? We love EVs and this is one you should consider for your family lineup

I purchased a 2023 bolt euv redline. I’ve owned many cars from Chrysler to GM. The bolt is by far the best car I’ve ever owned!

July 8th '22 I drove my 2020 11k miles, 3 adults and mid-sized dog from AK to TX and back. The Bolt did everything it was designed to do without a hitch. Very reliable. Even 3mos after the trip there is no weirdness, it's still like new. The charging speed allowed me to choose free chargers in the area and not just EA, abut 50% of charging was free including Canada where 90% was free charging.

You guys are clearly too young to have been around for the muscle car era. I owned a 1967 GTO what a hoot. I now feel the same way about my Chevy Bolt EUV. Thanks for the review.

I've always looked at a car as a way to get from point a to b, is reasonably comfortable, had decent gas mileage and was well built. When hybrids came out my wife and I got one because getting 40+ mpg was amazing. At 71 we have just bought a 2023 Bolt EUV Premiere and just love it! It is our go to car for local and commuting. It charges overnight just using level 1 charging although we are waiting for the installation of the outlet for level 2 charging. We bought this car knowing a long trip would be an adventure. After buying the Bolt our only connection to the fossil fuel industry is the Hybrid. We have solar, geothermal and now an electric car.

I missed seeing this review until today, I can relate to both the Bolt EV ownership as well as a lengthy history of random car ownership (36 vehicles between me and family, anything from Diesel Excursion to Diesel Audis, a Chevy SS, Audi S7, '74 Jeep CJ-5, Minivans, Corvette ZO6, RV's - automatics, manuals, 2 and 4WD). Agnostic as far as propulsion types, body style, or for the most part manufacturer - as long as it meets a personal or family need or desire at the time, I'm game. Due to having 3 kids my wife was driving, against her initial wishes, minivans for a good while but moved to a 2021 Bolt EV in June 2021. Her job takes her to various local locations daily, and her car is also a mobile office, and for this use the Bolt is perfect. Only need to charge at home, never even close to hitting max range in a day, and running HVAC while sitting in the mobile office on a hot or cold day is quiet, devoid of fumes, and somewhat guilt free now. Bolt has a large backseat and could fit all 5 of us if needed, but if all 5 of us go somewhere together - especially on long trips - we have another vehicle for that. Bolt is easy to maneuver and park and not a bad drive with the EV torque. On the rare occasions I drive it I pop it in Sport mode, because.....Sport Mode. My wife has no complaints and loves the Bolt, my only complaint is seat comfort. In August of last year we traded the 2021 Bolt EV with 14K miles for a brand new 2022 Bolt EUV for total cost of $400 (thanks Driveway.com). A little bigger back seat, new styling, added sunroof and dynamic cruise (no super cruise on ours), and all for only $400. Weird timing with EV pricing and GM price drops, Bolt Battery issues, etc. Wife loves the EUV just as she did the EV. Its a perfect match for her needs, actually a solid car at it's price point, have never had any maintenance issues (did have to top off battery coolant in the EUV actually, but it sat for a year waiting for the battery replacement, perhaps the battery replacement led to coolant loss?), and it's pretty fun to drive.Definitely have saved fuel costs, but do expect (and agree with) coming fees for road usage (to replace loss gas tax revenue). We've been very happy with the EV, but as someone who counts seconds on each road trip stop - and belittles anyone asking to use the restroom - I personally could not use one for a long road trip. Not until range is 700 miles (typical full day of driving) or can be charged in 5 minutes, or perhaps when I'm retired with no kids in the car and my sole goal isn't "how fast can I get there".

Drive my bolt 280 300 miles round trip every couple of months. Works just fine. I dont go below 20% dont charge over 80% at dcfc. Takes about 40 minutes to charge. No big deal. You folks who think you cannot road trip in a Bolt are simply wrong

You have got to be kidding! Battery fires and now another recall for fires related to the seat belts. Warranty replacement delayed and spread out over years. Max 50 kwh charging speed.

The recalls are almost as bad as a regular car, huh? :D I have the Bolt EUV, Love it! The 55 kWh charging speed is not really a concern if you are using this car as a commuter car and plugging in a home.

19 battery firs out of 150,000 cars. Look up how may thousands of KIAs and Hyundai ICE vehicles have been involved in fires. No issues with charging as I charge almost exclusively at home. Every couple of months we do a trip that requires dcfc. We dont go below 20% dont charge over 80%. No big deal especially as the bolt runs about 15-20k less than other evs save the Kona or Leaf
