Great review. I was at a decision point in when I sold my 2012 Tiger 800 XC. I had time on my buddy's 2013 Multi, 2016 BMW S1000XR and his new 2018 Multi 1260. They are all incredible bikes.Preferred his 2013 1200 Multi to the newer model...less vibes and seemed to be a bit more comfortable. Ended up with the 2018 Tiger 1200 XCA for all of the reasons you describe. Is it as inspiring as the Multi? No. Is it crazy fun above 6000 RPM as the BMW? No. But does it do a lot of things well? Yes. Comfort...love riding it in the dirt...the riding modes are dialed in tight...and it is very comfortable for a pillion.

Thank you for your impressions. I bought it already! Why? Real Ducati feeling, great V2 sound, vivid vibrations, good looking, gives me all I need for a sunday morning ride everywhere I want to go.

If only I could have all three! All will do what you want them to do, and with comfort and style. Great review, and cannot wait to have it confirmed that Ducati will indeed bring out a V4 Multistrada. Starting to save my pennies already!! Thanks guys, love your work, all the best from Oz.

I enjoy your reviews. While this particular review did not include a 2up portion, I especially appreciate that aspect of you reviews as I frequently ride 2up with my wife and so getting feedback on pillion comfort is important to me. Thanks for taking on this often ignored segment of the Moto community

You didnt enjoy the Multistrada the way it is designed for. Rev it up, go to the mountains and then review it again. Btw heated standard.on any touring model from 2010, you have to close the throttle for downshifting with the QS.

Nice bike and real world review. I guess being a Ducati gives it the smile on your face feeling when you own one. In the uk ( maybe worldwide) all the Ducati’s come with 4 years warranty which definitely makes it a great long term bike if you’re pockets are deep enough.

Nice to see reviews of Ducati ADV bikes; they get comparatively little airplay. Love the quick reference to Your Lady's Kwak 400. I rode a Gixxer 400 back in the early '90s for a few months. It was like being in an arcade game; probably the most exciting few months of my motorcycling career!

That colour scheme makes the Multi look so much better. Had first gen Multi and also first gen Tiger 1200. Preferred the Multi for feeling like a motorcycle but the comfort of the Tiger was second to none. I am at the stage of deciding between the two in 2020 and like you believe they are very close. Think the Tigers equipment and value for money may swing it though

I'm looking forward to the new-generation 2020 S 1000 XR. I took a then new XR through the Alps in 2018 and had the most fun ever. It was such a great bike. The new one promises to make many improvements. I'm doing the Pyrenees in June with buddies and hope that the 2020 is available. I like the slightly more sport-riding position for both the Multi and the XR relative to, say, a GS on mountain roads. I like the extra leverage and getting the boots a bit tucked for bigger leans. I've never ridden the Tiger 1200.
@bernhtp
@bernhtp 4 жыл бұрын
@@CaliMotoTV Do you have any advice for my buddies on the Pyrenees rental? We have the choice of the R1250GS, S1000XR, Multistrada 1260 S, and Tiger Explorer. Again, nine days, about 200 miles/day of mostly highly-technical mountain sport riding. Experienced riders that often like to get seriously after it. A couple of them are short - around 5'7".

Fares Akl My ‘13 GranTurismo came with LARGER side cases, top box, crash bars, and taller touring screen; as well as the fog lights, heated grips, and center stand that this one has. This “GT” is a huge disappointment compared to mine, as far as standard equipment. I keep waiting for a Multistrada worthy of trading in my 2013 for, but it hasn’t happened yet. Can’t even get the large panniers anymore. The ONLY things mine lacks is cruise control and a little more grunt from the motor. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@@cedricksamaniego9146 well my fear has come true. Some idiot at my college back into my 2009 Yamaha fz6r and left it with $2000 worth of repairs from my insurance. @@cedricksamaniego9146 Yeah will sure be on my feet after this covid 19 goes away. I'm planning on buying a gt250r and swapping it's engine with a v4 Honda vfr750 engine. This way I can have cheap insurance also won't be mad if it gets damaged since its already used from a wrecked bike.

I had a 2015 1200S. The Sky Hook suspension was crap - wanted to do tank slappies all the time. The throttle maps were dangerous - no power in 1st or 2nd gear until 16mph then dribs and drabs. Any old lady in a Prius could out drag you at the lights. Repairs were expensive and the parts made out of cocoa tin. I did an oil change at 5,000 miles. The magnetic plug had metal shards on it, the longest 1/4 inch. Back to the Japanese for me.

You are driving like my grandmother...Multi's are for revving and mountain roads. Worst impression for a new bike ever. By the way, i own 2016 model and from what is see here this is just decals, a new tft-screen and a 1260 engine what is "new". Heated grips? Standard on most of the models from 2014 already. Next time: better do your homework.
