A brief review and demonstration of the 2020 Epiphone SG muse in Smoked Almond Metallic, plugged directly into a Bugera V22 tube amp. Playing begins at 2:50 and I misspeak about the pickup position at 6:03, I should say middle instead of neck. Thanks for watching!
UPDATE 03/08/20
So the coil tapped middle position I'm referring to turns out to be the Phase Switch. I was unfamiliar with them initially. That explains the "wah" or nasal sound that is produced. The phase switch is activated by pulling up on the top tone knob
UPDATE 04/04/20
I added a pickguard to this guitar and you can find that video here

Appreciate hearing the natural sounds in order to get a good feel for what music this would be best for. I've had my eye on this one specifically and the price is starting to seem right, and your review is very convincing.

I kept calling guitar center each week and they eventually told me they probably wouldn’t get any of the new Epiphones til late March or April, but they are “in stock” so if you wanna demo one out asap, it might be worth ordering one and having it delivered to the store

Buying the blue one tonight. To me these just sound so fantastic for the price. I play an 82 strat, but I’m not crazy on fender neck for electric. This has a bright sound for humbuckers which I love. This seems to be the perfect medium guitar for my taste. The les Paul is just a tad too muddy for me sometimes.

RyanMartinDrums I think it’ll do the trick just fine! I actually find myself playing with the coil taps on most of the time because I just love the tone so much! Then humbuckers are certainly a little brighter too! Happy playing! :)

Like the knobs change out. It would look better with black plastic trim, IMO. But other than that... Great looking and sounding instrument. Ordered one exactly like that one from Sweetwater. It will be my 8th SG; the other 7 are all Gibsons, so I'm biting the Epiphone bullet on this one. Nice review. Thanks.

Coil tapping vs. Coil splitting....coil tapping means taking the signal from the midpoint of the wire winding while the coil-splitting means splitting the humbucker into two single coils. An easy way to clear out the difference between these two terms is to know that humbuckers are split and single-coil pickups are tapped.
@dustymyles244
@dustymyles244 4 жыл бұрын
That middle position coil tap is “out of phase” which switches the polarity of the neck pickup. Basically flip flopping the direction that the coil receives the signal. And no most coil taps or splits are not this way. Look up peter green he used it a lot

Do you still have your Epiphone SG muse today? If so have you enjoyed playing it with all the different tone options, the 2 pull/push on your volume knobs are your coil splits for your bridge and neck pickups, and the 1 push/pull option on your neck tone knob is your in/out of phase option. You probably know all of this already. I was just thinking about buying the same exact guitar here with the exact color for $539 Canadian, its a 2022 model. I do have 2 other Epiphone SG's, but different models, anyways Great Review, Keep Rocking!

Psyco Mike thank you for watching and for the kind words! So I initially had a cloth strap on it and it didn’t want to much at all, I was honestly a bit surprised because my last SG wanted to dive constantly.... well I put on a leather strap now and I guess since the material is smoother or how I have it hung, it wants to dive

Thank you, kindly! 100%, the neck has a very nice taper throughout and is certainly a little faster and more comfortable than a traditional SG in my opinion. Admittedly, I’m not too sure how to fix amps, but the one “warning” I read about the V22 was that the tubes will need to be replaced within the first year.... I have had mine for almost 5 and the tubes are still going strong. From what I have read replacing the tubes on it are pretty easy. I’d also contact Bugera and tell them about it, it has to be under warranty right? Sorry I can’t be of more help /:

everybodylovesgav hey there! So I got the pickguard in today. It doesn’t quite fit because of the way they carved the body, but with a little bit of sanding to make it more flush at the pickups, it’ll most likely look “fine”. If it were a $1000+ guitar I’d say it’s unacceptable, but because of the price of these things, I’m gonna go ahead and drill it on!

Thanks for watching! Based off it being more of a whiteish shine than blue I think it is indeed nickel! Do you know of a way I can test it other than looking at it? I’d love to find out for sure!
@nalukeko
@nalukeko 4 жыл бұрын
Andrew's Reviews good question. how the hardware reacts to fingerprints and smudges might tell over time. I have a PRS where the (clean!) covers will haze even if it sits in the case. Some folks use muriatic acid for aging nickel. On chrome it doesn’t work so well. So that could be a test. Underside of tailpiece maybe. Less invasive and less dangerous is white vinegar. I’ve heated that in the microwave before and let the parts sit in the steam. Clouds them over but can be polished off again. btw, totally agree on the speed knobs vs top hats! Good choice.
@andrewreviews9397
@andrewreviews9397 4 жыл бұрын
Sherkhan I’ll have to test that out. Thanks for the tips! I feel like how it’s reacted with my skin touching it, it most likely is nickel but I’d like to know for sure. And thank you! Cost about $7 I think at GC and adds a whole new look to it. I added a pickguard too if you’d like to see that. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/f8p2psKY3J-dcn0.html
