2020 Ford Transit - (interior, exterior, and drive) / ALL-NEW Ford Transit 2020
Best Cargo Van for Your Business and Hauling
• Transporter icon with two tonne payload, thanks to revised engines, with up to seven percent lower fuel consumption
• First commercial vehicle in its mild hybrid diesel drive segment (mHEV) improves fuel efficiency in start-stop operation by up to another eight percent
• 136 kW (185 hp) version of the 2.0-liter EcoBlue turbodiesel supplements the engine range and 10-speed automatic as an option for Transit with rear-wheel drive
• With a fresh design, modern interior, improved storage options and advanced driver assistance systems, the Transit will be launched in mid-2019
Extensive range of driver assistance systems
The range of driver assistance systems for the new Transit is even more comprehensive. They help to avoid accidents or to minimize their consequences for man and machine. Which includes:
• A Blind Spot Assist with Cross Traffic Alert with additional tow hitch function (to extend the dead-angle sensor area with the trailer attached). This feature can detect other road users side by side or behind the transit over a distance of up to ten meters, as the system extends the blind spot monitoring to the trailer.
• the intelligent speed limiter, which, in combination with the traffic sign recognition system and adaptive cruise control system, protects the driver from unintentional speeding
• The improved Lane Assistant, including Lane Keeping Assist - detects the lane marking with the help of the front camera and warns the driver against unintentional lane changes with short steering wheel vibrations. In addition, an active steering assistance promotes the change back to the track.
• Pedestrian detection pre-collision assist, which detects people next to or on the road, even at night, as soon as they are in the light cone of the headlights
Other assistance functions of the new Transit reduce the stress load at the wheel and counteract premature fatigue, for example by facilitating parking maneuvers and thereby reducing the risk of costly damage caused by bumps:
• Front and rear view cameras with split-view technology assist the driver when leaving narrow parking spaces or at crossroads when lateral visibility is limited
• Thanks to the particularly high-mounted reversing camera, the driver has a good overview when reversing even with the rear doors open
• a parking aid with additional side sensors
• an Active Parking Assist with parking and parking functions, which helps the driver to find a correspondingly large gap and manages the steering movements in parking spaces that are transverse or longitudinal to the road surface. The Auspark Assistant steers the vehicle out of parking bays along the road
• the Cross Traffic Alert warning system, which, when reversing from a parking space, alerts vehicles that are approaching to the side
First mild hybrid transporter in the transit segment
The innovative mild hybrid diesel technology (mHEV), which Ford is the first manufacturer to offer in the transit segment, impresses with even higher fuel efficiency. This technology is available on request for the Ford Transit variants with both front and rear wheel drive. Thanks to the mHEV technology, additional savings potential of eight percent is possible in situations with frequent start-stop operation, such as in inner-city delivery and distribution traffic.
In mild hybrid diesel technology, a belt-driven starter generator replaces the conventional alternator. It can recuperate kinetic energy in rolling or deceleration phases and store it in a lithium-ion battery with a voltage of 48 volts. This electrical energy then intervenes at low speeds in acceleration phases supportive and takes over the drive of auxiliary units. Result: the system increases the efficiency and improves the consumption efficiency.
