In this video, I take my 2020 Shelby GT500 CFTP out of delivery mode, reset the TPMS warning, inventory the loose items, talk about the adjustable strut top mounts, have a look at the CFTP car cover, talk about the transmission "stay in neutral" mode, remove the CFTP suspension spacers and fix the problem they caused, discover a couple of assembly line surprises, install the carbon fiber wheel locking lug nuts, install the splitter, install the splitter wickers and install the oil separator!

The car even looks good without the front splitter 🙌🏼. Those suspension spacers may come in handy for people who have trailers that require a little more clearance. That’s cool to see all this. Thanks for making the video for us all. I would love to do all this on a new car as well and not have it dealer prepped. I can only imagine shop techs just slapping it all on without the proper care

When installing the oil separator elbow (1:08:00) I found using an 11/16 crow's foot to be 1000% easier than trying to flip a wrench. Also, if using the crow's foot you do not need to remove the VVT wire. One other thing worth mentioning. When installing the new PVC valve (1:04:30); my PCV would not just fall into place and thread right in. When I tried to tighten it into place it had the feeling of a bolt striping, and taking it out for inspection revealed the plastic was starting to shave off as it grabbed the first thread. The solution is to use a deep socket, one that just fits over the nipple, and applying some downforce. You will feel it pop into place. From there you can twist it until the barbs lock. Hope this helps!

Hey Tim, I finaly got around to installing my oil seperator so of couse I watched your video for some very helpful tips! Question though. The last pages in my directions that came with the kit talk about disconecting the battery so you can move some electrical terminals around. Is this a new thing because I can't find any information on any of the youtube videos about it.
@ShelbyFlyer
@ShelbyFlyer 2 жыл бұрын
While it’s generally a good idea to disconnect the negative battery cable when messing with electrical connection, I don’t see the necessity of this for the separator instal. Also worth noting, the tranny has to go through a relearn process when you remove power.
@bwieweck
@bwieweck 2 жыл бұрын
@@ShelbyFlyer I figured it out. They wanted the connecter that was real close to the new drain fitting rotated counter-clockwise to give the wires more clearance. Thanks for the video! It makes things easier.

Greetings from Puerto Rico You are very methodical and organize person; I guess we pick up these traits from aviation training. I can’t find the Splitter Wikers from Ford Performance Parts and/ or Ford OEM parts. Any suggestions? Hello and thank you Frank! Unfortunately most 2020 GT500 specific parts are not available yet. I ordered a bunch of backup parts including a set of wickers a couple months ago and they are still on backorder. All we can do is wait on Ford.

Can you assemble all of “instructions “ and your summary sheets like how to take out of delivery mode, but mainly instructions and maybe your comments to help install something. Did I miss gurney flap install?
@ShelbyFlyer
@ShelbyFlyer 3 жыл бұрын
Carbon Fiber Track Pack cars don’t not have a Gurney Flap. Only Handling Package base cars have them. Installation of the Gurney Flap is a non-event... remove the screws, hold the Gurney Flap in place, insert longer supplied screws. I did the install on my base car... it’s easy. As for assembling instructions, this video is complete and won’t be changed. If you want to install the splitter, wickers or oil separator, skip to that section for guidance.

My new GT500 Track Pack came with the Oil Separator Pre-Installed by Ford. Apparently Ford pre-installed the suspension plates as well since this is a later production Track-Pack. Hi, This is Hashtagg. My new Track pack is getting the paint correction done, the wheels, calipers, & rotor hats are getting ceramic coated as well. I am not sure of the chassis #. I believe I have #420. Yes 420😂😂. I traded in the 2020 handling Pack GT500. I meant 4200

Hey Shelby Flyer, I just installed my oil separator on my GT500 and I did not replace the blue PVC valve and it worked just fine. Is there a special reason to use the black one? Thanks!

Don’t have an answer for you Scott, but I suspect the valve is a bit different and designed specifically for the separator. I would swap it if I were you. Use my needle nose pliers trick.

Doesn't the dealer do this in PDI?
@ShelbyFlyer
@ShelbyFlyer 2 жыл бұрын
Depends on the dealer. The items deemed “for track use only” are not part of the official PDI and therefore not compensated by Ford for install. Some dealers will still install these items just to be nice (oil separator, splitter wickers & handling package gurney flap). Also, I got this car with a drop ship agreement, so my local dealer did not receive any funds. I agreed to take the car as delivered.

Question: if the battery is dead can you put it in neural somehow to roll it? If the battery is good, can one switch it in neutral, as shown, by hitting the start button, without touching the brake so it doesn’t start, and then hit the manual button and switch to neural? Or move the rotary button first and then hit neural button? Thanks
