In this video, I show how to change the oil on the 2020 GT500, how to deal with the cartridge style oil filter, how to reset the oil life counter as well as a bonus of making my low CFTP compatible with my 2-post lift!

I've noticed quite a bit of residual oil left in the containers on my oil changes, so I usually add another 1/4 of a quart to speed up the process and then let all the other empty bottles drain back into an empty can. It adds up to about a cap full of oil per container, which would add up for 11.5 quarts in your application. Thanks for answering the question I had about if the belly pan needed to be removed. My wife's G35 requires it. I'm glad Ford made it simple.

Many thanks. I changed the oil in my 2021 for the first time today and it went smoothly. I did what I saw in another video or two, which was to make a U with cardboard around the oil filter so very little oil ran toward the rear. Also, prior to starting the engine, I held down the brake and gas pedal to the floor and touched the start button...it took three times before the oil pressure came up. The other guy took two times. I really enjoy my beautiful monster! Be safe and enjoy!

A good friend of mine is Ken Bjonnes he owns Palm Beach Dyno lives in West Palm Beach (he is a top level tuner) he has a newer Shelby. I think you would enjoy his website as he documents all the modifications he’s does to his Shelby. Thanks for the info. Derek

Funny, i did that exact same thing with my lowered 2020 GT, took me a good hour to figure it out. I have a 10k 2 post truck lift similar to yours, the pads had to come off on my lift also, then i used air compressed rubber coated pads from Home Depot. I have a polished concrete floor also, I had a friend hold a 2x4 behind the ramps so they didn’t move, i like the traction tape idea👍 That’s a sick car, if they made a manual Tremec GT500 I’d sell body parts to get one. I’m going to Supercharge mine with a Roush kit most likely, Stage 2 is 750hp on 93 octane. I’ve already redone the entire suspension with FORD Racing track parts, everything, and a bunch of Steeda parts to tighten up the suspension. With 305 rear and 285 front Nitto tires it rips. It’s no GT500, but it’s a really great handling and driving car. Love your shop, mine is nice but in a smaller scale, and not nearly as many cars, your a blessed man my friend...videos are great, keep them coming👍

@@ShelbyFlyer I understand why your using Motorcraft for the warranty oil, and everybody has there favorite oil they think is best. I’ve always run Mobil 1, although the fact that Walmart sells the 5 quart jugs for like $22 always makes me wonder how good it is compared to newer tech oils anymore. I’ve been using Penzoil Ultra Synthetic, which Hennessy uses in their GT350 conversions and some others I believe. I’m no engineer, but have been watching and reading a lot about synthetic oils and in high performance engines it seems to be important how long they can run at high temps before they break down, which can be long before you’d think the should. In a new GT500 I’m so anal I’d probably be changing it every 1,200 to 1,500 miles and running a Blackstone Oil test every time so the dealer couldn’t deny my warranty since i do my own maintenance like you do. I don’t trust dealer mechanics, there’s usually only one or two in any given dealer that actually know what they’re doing when it comes to high performance cars...enjoy that beast, when they go electric that car will be worth some real money some day👍

Another quick question for you of you don’t mind. Did my first oil change at 637 miles. I noticed there was some gold metal on the bottom of oil canister. After inspecting the oil filter found a small piece of metal and was sparking in the sun so some shavings in there. Planning on doing another oil change at 1000 miles. Did you ever find anything like this on your GT500s oil changes? Wondering if this is normal or something I should be concerned about.
