The best rex model I have ever seen and I just can't decide how would he look better. With lips or without lips.

I would go with lips. They give an accurate look and also makes the figure look really really cool when the mouth is closed as opposed to the weird teeth protruding out of the mouth kind of look.

@@nemanjastanimirovic155 c'mon man it's PNSO. Everything of theirs look great. Even if they added lips, it would still look fantastic except that the mouth closing action would be much more satisfying to watch.

@@UtterNoobness I don't know, when the mouth is open and you see all that detail on the inside of the mouth, it's pretty satisfying to me. Makes me wish for an alternate model instead of a change to the existing one. Eider way PNSO is at the top of their game. Quick question actually, what do you, or anyone reading this, like to see PNSO bauble with more speculative ideas like more keratin on the face, elaborate display structures or something similar.

Well finally after 3 months of going out of my mind waiting this glorious beast finally came home. Opened the box and WOW this is the best most beautiful Trex, dinosaur figure i have ever seen. I was so fed up with the Jurrasic Park clone Trex'es figures. Have been wishing for a long time on a Trex based on scientific evidence. So glad PNSO was the company who made this gem of a figure. Glad there is no lips to hide those fantastic teeth.

@JB-dm5cp
@JB-dm5cp 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Andy. I am happy you finally got your “specimen” :-) I got mine a few days ago. This might well be my favorite representation of Tyrannosaurus rex in a toy model until now. I like the fearherless and lipless appearance, but I can’t be bothered to have any preference for either ‘for’ or ‘against’ - as long as the scientific reasoning is sound and the figure is well-modelled, with attention to detail and with good proportions. (Although I do feel that feathers on Tyrannosaurus rex don’t “feel” right - but then again, what do I know...) I also love the big barrel chest and a non-protruding pubic bone, and its bulky, beefy appearance in general. The longer you study the details on this model, the more you can appreciate the study that has gone on in designing it. As just one example, I love how the two bundles of caudofemoralis muscle can be seen on the underside near the base of the tail. This indicates a high attention to scientific accuracy, I think. In hand, this model is just awesome, and I dare say I have never seen a toy model that is trying to be (and succeeding wonderfully, for as far as I can tell) as thoroughly scientifically correct as this one, where every little bit about it has been well thought out and researched. Although the individual scales may be too big for the scale of this model, we may take this as a liberty taken to be able to point out the variation in patterning and sizes of the scales on different parts of the body, and as such I think this model can be called a success as well. From being able to imagine how the skeleton defines the shape and posture of the real, living animal, to seeing the bulges and dips indicating musculature, to seeing the different scale patterns and sizes, I am quite in awe of this model, which is well worth its prize, in my opinion. I initially thought about repainting/retouching the model, but since I quite like the paint job as it stands, I won’t - and generally I prefer to keep the models in their original colors anyway, especially with relatively expensive ones as this one. I love the slight gloss that is over the upper side and head, making the scales glisten slightly in the light, which along with the wonderful details gives the model another little layer of visual depth.

@@AlienArteStoreMX Regarding the reticulated scales, it is impossible that it had them for the simple fact that these scales are "aborted feathers", that is, feathers that did not complete their development and formed that keratinous structure, but although T. rex had feathers it could not have had these scales on the legs, because this interruption in development only occurs in feathers of advanced stages that T. rex did not possess (T. rex, if it had feathers, must have had stages 1,2 and 3 only, or even only the 1 and 2), that is, the reticulated scales were only present, as far as is known, by individuals of Maniraptora (including birds).

The upcoming Nanmu's Buck Rex blows this out of the water tho in terms of sculpt detail, muscle definition and paint app. The biggest issue I have with Wilson is the monotone scale all over his body, there's hardly any variation in sizes. Also there's a severe lack of skin folds and creases everywhere.
