@@markayala I just priced some and maybe you can help..I drive a 21 and am hoping that I can get one that isn't too expensive. So I looked on Ebay, and I was already told by 2 people on separate selling sites that the R400 clones that I looked at that they had for sale did not fit the 21. If those fit 18 - 20, I don't get it, why wouldn't they fit at 21? And honestly I haven't gone to the Invidia web site yet. Thoughts?

@@dwightevans8545 Oh wow I didn't know they marketed it like that. Honestly I can't give you a 100% answer, but I am not aware of any changes they made to the 21 that would make fitting the R400 on it a problem. Maybe they didn't have time to update it, but the R400 should fit. I had a 2018 WRX and the R400 fit THE SAME when I installed it on the 2020 STI. I don't think the 2021 should be any different.

wow exactly the same thing haha. my WRX was stage 2 so i feel like that was faster than my stock STI, but everything else like brakes, suspension, transmission, steering, etc. is such a noticeable difference. it was definitely the move trading our cars in haha

@@markayala went from a 2016 wrx to a 19 sti.. but stock wrx. but WOW what a difference. love my sti. but hate the paint... oh the paint sucks. so. many. rock chips. and metallic silver is horrible to touchup.

@@markayala I’m just realizing I never replied, but the love is real for my STI. Currently saving for a wedding at the moment, but I’m ready to throw on an exhaust pretty soon. Debating between the R400, ETS, and AWE exhaust.

@@vaughn_don8764 dude congrats!! If I were to go back, I'd go for a non resonated set up. The R400 is a little quiet for my taste. I want a raspy growl. The R400 is resonated so it produces a deeper tone

@@markayala Yes I had a 2017 WRX and it was paid off this year. On January 29th this year. I found a low mileage 2020 base model STI with only 9,421K on it. I paid it off after 45 days because Subaru said on March 11th they would not be making the STI anymore. Stay safe brother and remember Subies forever.

As I understand it currently you still have ability to get a 2022 sti because of the delay to release the new models in 2023. You have been given another grace period!

Yup! Stock downpipe. I had a stage 2 WRX with a grimmspeed catted J-Pipe and this is slightly louder than that set up. I used a Grimmspeed stock dowpipe to 3 inch catback and it fits perfectly. theres some muffled crackles and pops occasionally with this set up on the STI which is surprising. puts a smile on my face every time though hah :D

check your gaskets for any exhaust leaks. could also back pressure created from improper installation of the exhaust. make sure you have a free flowing exhaust tract free of any leaks and kinks at the connections. That's all i could think of

You're right it does drone at 3-4k RPM when you're cruising. I don't mind. I leave the seats down so i can hear that glorious rumble even more 😅

and it's only a catback! I can only imagine what a turboback exhaust would sound like

@@markayala I have a catless downpipe with the r400 on my 2018 STI. ITs A must. pops a lot, rumble is even louder. just awesome best exhaust in my opinion. swapping the oem uel headers soon for bigger ones. this sounds like a v8

I don't know what to compare it to because i went from stock STI exhaust to this R400. But I'll tell you it's about 5-7 times louder than stock. I had a full bolt on 2018 WRX and this STI with the R400 is still louder than a turbobacked WRX. It does drone on the highway but not obnoxious. A 6th gear hum sounds quite nice.

It's a total difference from stock to this. I have a 2020 sti and swapped on the r400. Way louder inside, especially in the back seat compared to stock.

Yeah I have stock 2020 STi with borla s-type cat back and my buddy has 2018 STi stock with r400 cat back. Overall sound level is about the same but the r400 has more drone. Both exhaust are much louder than stock

Thanks for watching! I'd say the R400 is still quieter compared to other exhausts. There is some drone but i think it's managable. You can still listen to music and hear people in the cabin with this setup. Check my other videos! I went stage 1+ and made some videos on the new sounds!

Yea windows down! Yes it's a nice sound but not well suited for a +3hr drive haha

I went from the Invidia R400 to the Q300. The Q300 is perfect in my opinion. It has no drone on the freeway. But the exhaust sounds great when you get on the car when doing some spirited driving. Especially if you plan on doing aftermarket headers or downpipe, the Q300 is great all-around.

I'm sure it does sounds this good haha. It can always be louder from a drivers point of view haha. And yes this 100% R400 only. But if you've seen my newer videos, it's got new bolt - ons ;)

perhaps drive the car a little harder and dig into boost a little. Mine starts crackling after I dig into boost for a while. The air/fuel mixture probably gets richer allowing the exhaust to pop. Of course, since we don't have downpipes yet, most of the crackles are muffled by the 2 catalytic converters. (emphasize YET) >:)

@@markayala I’m thinking for deleting the resonator, you think it could be louder?

@@Chris_vab yep. a resonator will hide the pops. i got a borla s exhaust and sounds very similar to the r400 but not as loud and droney. hard shifting under high boost will develop a pop/crackle. sometimes its as loud as a gun shot which is fun, but really only while aggressive short shifting around 4-5k rpm and high boost. also pops/gurggles while downshifting if the downpipe is still hot.

Nice! You cant go wrong with those two exhausts. R400 is modest. It's not the loudest, but it's got a nice deep rumble. Im fully stock. I have an accesport but it's not married to my STI yet. I have plans for Stage 2+ but that's still a while until I upgrade.

@@markayala oh i see. do you need to get a tune after you install that r400? i had to watch it again cuz its sounds amazing specially when it pops and downshifting.

Managable! You can have a conversation in the car, but you definitely can't whisper to each other in the car. On the highway there's some drone but not obnoxious. I love it!

Are you planning to go stage 2 and possibly flex fuel?

@@wasp_7551 hard to hear anything when you're stock because of the mufflers =/ best way to do it is a catback or an axleback. The pops will come naturally after you get rid of the mufflers 😁

@@markayala nice the last time I heard my R400 I had the downpipe going with it so I’m used to that sound. I’m gonna swap exhausts today. I bought my STI used and the previous owner left the Awe Touring installed. It gives the nice subie rumble but it’s too quiet for me. Perfect for the highway I will say.

@@markayala I honestly am a muscle guy, I drove two mustangs.. and I was like ehhh (having low expectations) but I test drove it and it is the most driver friendly, fun car. Transmission is smooth, steering is beautiful, boost in 1-2 gear is honestly exhilarating and I was in love. I didn’t even care about any other car. Pro SUBIEEE

@@hitempt welcome to the club!! Does it have an exhaust or is it stock? Subies and mods go well together! I made a video of the first mods on the STI on my channel. An intake and tune really wakes up this car! A 2020 STI vs 2018 STI is already very different. A stock 2020 STI feels like a Stage 1 2018 STI thanks to the updated tune. Also, don't forget to wave! ✌️

Yup! Only mod at this time was the Gemini R400. If you look at my newer videos, the car is now Stage 1+. I have plans to go Stage 2+ eventually.

In this video, I was completely stock with just an Invidia Gemini R400 Catback installed. Check my latest video as I did an intake install! That's my most recent mod. a downpipe is a future goal!
