We hope you enjoy this NEW technique series!
We got SO MANY questions in the last 24 hours I think we'll never run out of material. :-DDDDDD
The only thing that's hard is not being able to help each person individually - so some of this info may work for you, some may not and we're aware of that.
We are NOT voice teachers, so we hope our language and demonstrations make sense!!! LOL!
We actually created a small technique series last season, so I'll link ALL the videos here for you!
They're living in a playlist, AND here they all are for you:

If you have any questions about this video let us know below!! Norm will join me for our next video, still deciding on the topic!!
.
If you want more Living Opera we have a website!

I always look for the big breath in, when I watch the professionals…now I understand why I don’t see it from the good ones! Thank you for such a thorough explanation of everything!

Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed it! 😀 Definitely! Part of what do is “hear” and visualize the note before I sing. I’ll explain 😝

Great vid as always. I love these because it is like back in college when I would claw into my teachers brains for more info and details. LOVE it. Two points: on pull in push out... is there a weight difference? IE if someone is a larger person I wonder if it is easier for them to connect by pushing out... and thinner people pull in in order to make that contact? I am thin too and It is always a question... one teacher I had said for me to stop thinking about it and let it happen... but then her voice was naturally HUGE. Second point on breath: One of my teachers would really push the idea of practicing the 3rd breath. He wanted to make sure we did not focus really well on breath one.... and the rest just falls apart. So, we would do an exercise 3 times so that I had to "take that breath between" and make sure the second and third breath were still correct. LOVE watching you all work!

Really interesting and useful tips! I am pretty curious about the crescendo/diminuendo as that seems like it's obtained by changing the pressure of the air, basically by adjusting how much we hold back the air with our support muscles, is that right? Like, on a stable note a quieter sound going into a louder sound would be obtained by using little air at the beginning (with substantial resistance on the diaphragm), gradually realising more air (with less resistance on the diaphragm), and then for a diminuendo gradually realising less air again? or the opposite? This sounds intuitive and logically makes sense, but in that case a louder sound would be more stressful and heavier on the vocal folds, as there'd be more air going through them. I guess my question is generally what makes in a healthy way a sound louder or quieter?
