Saw this years ago. The leading lady wasn't quite as slender as some and more or less waddled down some hidden steps rather than leaping. It was still a great performance, though.

Why is she interrupting him so much? Thanks for the lesson though

Please don’t interrupt the other! Norman most tenors like me need help with the passagio. Help us work through it to the upper register. Please don’t apologize for being just singers but not pedagogues. The only people I’ve ever learned from has been singers, never trainers. (I’ve had several). Also, you bring up the resonance, point to your cheeks and think we understand. Walk us through that and illustrate it. Then Norman, if you can “ cover “ show us how to develop that ability.

You had to fight cancer and reconsider your priorities in life. But daring to share such a dire period is even more courageous and insightful. I shared your suffering. This could be material to write your own opera booklet! Glad you’re now all smiles!

Soula! Gorgeous! Riveting! I’m Vikram Srinivas, a fellow Canadian and aspiring opera singer, at UofT for voice. I’m so happy to hear you in such a beautiful rendition of this aria. I hope you keep posting your singing journey from now on. And I’m so happy to hear more recordings of you singing (and hopefully see you in person one day).

Found this after seeing you’ll be artist in residence at my Alma mater! This hits home as too much pressure has always been an issue for me. I love the idea of singing before the inhale feels like it’s anything substantial, almost catching it before the body is aware enough to start its habit. Looking forward to checking more if these out. Check out my whistling!!

Thank you for your valuable time to share your experience, It seems to me that when proper appoggio is established singing becomes natural production and a simple process.

I appreciate your videos and think your teamwork is great! But I may have missed it somehow I listen to the video twice… did you guys come out and say whether or not you should use a low larynx or the mask or both? It wasn’t clear to me?

Thank you for sharing this video. I'm an older tenor who hopes to sing something beautiful this Christmas. My biggest challenge is breath. Without a solid foundation in breath, it's hard to build a healthy technique. Thank you for sharing this!

I finished listening to your session with Stay At Home Choir. I love your positive approach and your optimism. Your conversation with Tori Longdon, (who is equally positive and optimistic) sent me here to your youtube channel. I will love having you in my youtube feed from now! on I was not a lover or a hater of opera. Since our project singing "Brindisi" from La Traviata, and listening to your wonderful conversation with Tori, I am ready to fully open my heart to opera! Your singing is magical. Thank you, Soula.

If you use your passagio and no one can tell it's there, does it really exist? Yes, but I do all I can to keep it a secret. I practice with that in mind.

I just got a chance to sing Barbarina…I’m a late bloomer at 49. So does this mean I’ll get typecast, or that I’m not very good? I love Mozart, but this wasn’t the role I was hoping for, honestly. Any advice?

I see, I must spend much (much) more patience for a warming up, and not immediately start with high notes! I will try it and hope, my voice will thank me for it :)

I heard people saying what the secret for a lasting marriage is. And here it is right in front of me: let the woman talk non-stop, let her interrupt you, let her do what she feels for and as a man be just affirmative and say 'yes', 'yeap' and keep nodding....... conundrum solved! 😂
