Worse thing about all this Euro regulation bollox is it's bad for the engine.. The amount of emissions from motorcycles is so tiny compared to cars and even more industrial outputs & aircraft it's an absolutely farce imo Great video however of course 🙏

It has absolutely nothing to do with carbon footprint. It's about bilking as much disposable income from the public as possible. Every decade it's a new made-up threat. First aerosol cans were creating a hole in the ozone, then it was cars, now it's cows. Wake up. If they were really serious about dealing with it, China and India industrialization would be rewound back into the 1500's.

RidewithMuscles 👍 every generation R1 is epic in their own right. In 2006 I bought a new '06 and I LOVED IT, until I saw your gen, the '09 was such an amazing bike and ill never forget seeing my first '09 In person but moreso HEAR,.the guy had a full system , not cats and that crossplane sound changed everything for me!😍. Then going to the '15,..my personal favorite now the latest gen and SO much of it is the CP4,..with a system it's such an amazing sound. Sadly at 41 and a back injury from a Ducati I can't daily a sportbike anymore , after 26 years! Broke my heart ,...unnnnnntil the MT10 was announced to come out and I thought I'd never say it but, of all my sportbikes ive LOVED,..my modified MT10 had easily become my favorite, that cp4 tuned for the MT10 making more torque that the r1 and way down low was life changing . A comfortable "r1 " that just wants to be on its rear wheel. Lol with a little work it's been an amazing track day bike too. Shocks a lot of the other guys here when out. Hang onto that '10❤️️👍

Dawn Moon I don't get it, every year from 15 and up, I keep waiting for the next update to hear it's fixed but nope. On my '15 and '17 MT10 I found a simple pads upgrade helped a LOT! Buuuuut having owned a bunch of Ducatis , I compare everything to their brembos and there's just no other option. Why yamaha won't just add it I can't underand!??! EVERY REVIEW SINCE '15 is wooken brakes , and now 5 years in they haven't changed it and it's so stupid! They KNOW that change would fix the issue . Hope they smarted up .

I really don't want to disrespect these guys which are putting in a massive, massive effort into this and all their stuff is super great. 👏🏻 🚨 BUT: 🚨 I do have a different opinion about the brakes and ABS, and to make you understand I know what i am talking abt: I was the 4th fastest rider last year in Romania, of course, we don;t match UK and Italy and SPain, but still, we do have fast riders. I am currently at a -3.5 seconds off the local track record (4,2 km long). SO, this year i am on the 2018 R1, so the RN 49, not the RN32. And, all this season long i rode with my ABS ON the bike. You will go wild and crazy now that this is not racing, this is not pure fast going. Now, remember what time did Sam Lowes managed WITH the ABS on, right? How did he do it? Is really the ABS holding you back? NO! Is you RIDING STYLE, or, should I say, your NON riding style and lack of knowledge riding the bike. Poor riding skills will mean lots of 'panic type braking' 0 i do not judge anyone in here. But, the thing is how you ride the bike, the way you handle it, the way you prepare the corner entry, the way you load the front when starting the braking, the way you are continuously loading the front by MOVING your all body towards the front and getting that elbow out, by doing this not forcing your slef in a 'lock down' position and not being able to carry on speed and lean angle correctly loading the front - thus, making the electronics kick in. ⭕️ EXAMPLE: ⭕️ I have a friend which has IDENTICAL bike with me, 2018. He is lapping 9 seconds OFF my time, NINE!!!! And he pulled it off, saying 'i cannot ride with this ABS on' - MAN, he is slower than me 9 damn seconds, and I never had any issue with my ABS. I even managed to get the rear wheel up in the air while hard on the front brakes and the ABS didn't got in at all. I use Pirelli Superbike tires SC2 and SC1 on front usually. At times i try to do stoppies to see it work, and it.. works. my ABS is functional. So, what i mean is that, is all about the riding technique. If you love race vlogs, take a look over my episodes. So, again, 44 teeth team, guys, please don;t hate me, i really love your work and enjoy it every time, this is not HATE what i've wrote and please don t take it this way. Cheers and tons of appreciation once again.

That is a common thing with people not liking ABS, but I have no issues with it either.
@zitnbit

I think ppl who slip their machine to corner don’t like abs. Abs is for pretending a wheel lock and it shorten braking distance, does not make longer. What an irony.
@AdrianSinner97
@AdrianSinner97 4 жыл бұрын
@Gap - to be honest, the track day and club racing level, won't need the ABS off, just the riding style to be refined - be smoother and better technique for corner entry, as body position and so on. After i really learned how to ride, i compared my data logger from previous runs and i was breaking too much, and was 2 sec, slower. Now I carry on more corner entry speed and not that violent on the brakes as before

the brakes acted funny on my 2015 on my first track day with the R1(not me, the bike's first day) at mid ohio sports car course. (ex ama track) and after i swapped the pads for some Ferodo ST pads the braking become amazing like my old R6. the problem is the stock pads from advics.

As for the bike, there is a lot to love, it's a peach of an engine (even better with a system and tune no doubt) but WTF with the brakes Yamaha. For the price and given what the Euro competition offer it's simply become unacceptable. They've had years to sort it out and it just can't be excused.

I think you guys answered your own question wrt why so few R1's are sold now compared to the past, since right before that you were noting how expensive these bikes are now. Sport bike manufacturers have largely decided to go for the expensive niche of track riders with lots of disposable money, loading the bikes up with cutting edge tech and pricing themselves out of the much larger markets at lower price points. It wasn't long ago that a new CBR1000 could be had for less than ten grand. And re: R1 brakes, it must be intentional; they've heard complaints about crappy wooden brakes on the R1 for twenty years now.

can 44Teeth do any in depth testing footage of the YEC race parts for the r1 - r1m, like the race ecu and loom, camshafts and cam sprockets and the velocity stacks etc? I know that the 2020 bike can not be flashed yet so the option would be to fit the race ecu and loom but im wondering if it would be possible to keep the road legal stuff connected such as the lights and indicators etc. It would also be nice to know what sort of power and power curve the bike would make after dropping a substantial amount of extra cash on race ecu, cams and velocity stacks. 🚀

The base bike is $ 21,000 USD here in Mexico. The V4 is $22 K, a S1000RR is $17 K, a CBR1000 RR is $16 K and a GSX R1000 is $14 K. All base models. The 2015 R1 was a game changer, this 2020 is barely different if not worse. For the money I would buy the S1000RR except that I suspect that is badly restricted as the US version. So the only logical chose is to get the more expensive V4 which is not restricted and the 2020 seems to be more civilized for the road.

the amount of TECH dropped on these bikes nowadays is just insane. I wonder if anyone could make an objective comparison with R1M bone stock from the dealership versus 1990 GP bike? I have a 2016 R1 and I use power mode B on the road. Tried to use power mode A at Donnington and just couldn't get on with it. I didn't have the finesse to manage the throttle on the slower corners. It was just too snatchy and I gave up quite quickly...

A lot of things you guys said contradicted your impressions of the 2015 bike which is odd. SCS for example you originally said crack the throttle wide open, and it will save you, this time, it won’t save you. Odd

Hey Chris, how tall are you? I see you are a big guy. I am 194 cm and 100kg (6'4" and 220 lb) and i wanted to make a comparison you know, you said the r1 is small for you. I never got to ride one but i was thinking of getting one. Thanks!

Why on such a lush bike do they have cable ties holding on break lines? 19:33

It's nice but I will never like the new front. The old R1 looks angry.

Robyn Highart when it came out I thought the same having owned several R1's but I've come to love it, then got a '15 and an MT10 and seems like people either love them or hate it , I got one LOVE both but do agree the '09 gen was mean!

I'm sorry , the old R1 was ugly AF, never liked them. This new design is one of the best looking bikes around.

Have some concerns that we'll see similar issues in the US as we did with the BMW. Any news on how the emissions requirements will translate to states?

Neland Duncan it's such crap! When I bought my '15 new and my '17 MT10 new I had a cat delete pipe already shipped to my home. Both bikes lost a good 32 lbs of bull shit weight and restriction: amazing after simply decating and a tune. I'm reallllllly curious what the HP numbers will be in the 2020's after putting a full system on. Sounds like the HP gains are huge as opposed to '19's

I thought your review was very involved with the new changes, riding feedback and overall content of camera work, better than MCN review!
