Wow thank you so much for the compliment ☺️. I used to manage people as well. Once you master yourself then you can manage others 1 of the hardest things to do. Explaining things in detail is very important to me but we are all human and I forget things from time to time.

Great video! Thank you for doing it. I got my Crystal 2 days ago and have been struggling to get it working. Sadly i still haven’t been able to and I think the cable is faulty… or at least the USB 3 plug on the cable is faulty. It gets hot.. and it happens quite quickly. The hub is fine & I think the headset is probably ok. Plugging in the USB 3 plug only into the hub (nothing else) and it still gets hot. I’m now waiting for Pimax to reply to any of my messages (tickets) By the way.. I’m pretty sure your cable (or mine) is not fibre optic. There is a more expensive optic cable available.. and Pimax have even been supplying it with some headsets when they have run out of the usual copper cable…. but I think we both have the standard, copper cable not the fibre optic one. Thanks for the comment Steve. All the Fibre cables only have 2 ubss on them I showed a video in part 1 so going by that video pimax made that's what I am basing my conclusion on I could be wrong. 1 thing to try remove that display port thing and plug your cable directly into the headset an see if that works I know a lot of people have issues with that plug harness thing on the side .

@@2020fsers thanks 👍 in looks like my cable is faulty. It shouldn’t get hot like it is doing. I’m guessing there’s something shorting out in the USB 3 plug.. hence the heat. Cheers Steve

The review is so great, step by step.. I'm an RTX 4090 owner (Ryzen 7800X3d), using a Meta Quest 2 right now.. I'm a bit concerned about jumping into this headset just because I always expected wider FOV in this kind of price tag (That's why I never went with the VARJO option). What I would like to know is if this thing really is immersive and tracks well out of the box. I've seen they are selling the lighthouse and else.. I've already spent $4000 in my PC VR setup and don't want to jump into something that looks Beta to me. The other issue is that I live in Argentina, so I can only buy this in the US or Europe and bring it here (and pray it works). @2020fsers

With the 4090 and the best cpu on the market for flight sim you should be fine in this headset . The issue with the wider FOV. Especially when you have a higher resolution. It makes it very difficult for any PC to run that. So it's a fine line on trying to give a wide enough FOV to give great immersion and good enough performance to really appreciate the immersion. As far as the tracking inside out, tracking has never worked great in any headset that I've tested. And this is pretty much on par with that every once in a while. I will notice that the controller made jump and then it jumps right back. The headset, on the other hand I have not noticed that losing any sort of tracking. So if you want the ultimate tracking then you need to go with lighthouses.

Also, compared to the vario, this has better sound quality. A wider FOV and the FOV becomes wider in the vertical field of view. Which makes it great for when you need to look up at something. Or down at something you don't have anything. Obstructing your view, whereas in the vario, it almost looks like you're looking at a letterbox movie.

If I was buying the Chrystal, I would for sure use your link. Nobody else I'm aware of does these kind of setting up tutorials and I remember I struggled with the Quest 2 when I was setting it up and nothing seemed to work as it should. Took multiple tries just to get it connected to the WIFI and then it sort of randomly connected and I didn't know why because I tried to connect it the same way every time.

Thank you so much .. I also haven't seen anyone do a review from the prospective of a new user /buyer and I know so many people have issues so I really wanted to put this together so that new owners can see what they can expect Instead of just shilling on the product just to get money. Most KZfaq channels are either highly recommending it and praising all of its glory, and then other channels are saying oh it's the worst headset ever. But nobody actually gives you any real tangible evidence. Just here say from what they're telling you has happened. I chose the opposite route and I want to show everybody how it is instead of you just relying on me to tell you about my experience.

Another great video. I used a piece of packing tape over the top of the USB hub and the loose connection to keep it from falling out and to secure it to the top of the PC. Regards

Great video tutorial on setup of Crystal headset and software used. I assume this video will also be helpful with the newer low cost Crystal Lite headsets - though they won't have the battery or eye tracking. I have the same RTX-3080TI GFX card but no PIMAX products at this time. I only do sitting down SIM Racing games so these headsets should work quite well with the connect to the Display Port and inside out tracking. Thanks and take care.

Oh yes if you only do racing Sims then yeah hour 3080ti should perform well. And yes this will also apply to the lite version . To be honest I never use eye tracking lol. Thanks for the comment

Yeah lots of pros and cons . I don't think there is a perfect hmd on the market yet lol. I was able to do a sale for everyone for 1299 with the dmas speakers and that was a great deal. Not sure if they will do anything like that in the future.

I just got my Crystal two days ago. I think I accidently updated my firmware without plugging in the USB-C cord and it actually successfully updated without it. Weird. I believe the USB-C is just to provide backup power to the headset so it doesn't turn off. I don't believe it's transferring data.

Well you may be able to run it but you will need to definitely use ffr in the openxr toolkit and turn down the resolution start at 3000 and test . The crystal like low gpu latency which you can see in the toolkit under the advanced fps tool. Low to mid 20s are good . If the gpu latency goes higher than your fps you get a stutter. So if you are at 30 fps don't go over 30ms on gpu or bad stutters. I use 3050 resolution and get good performance. My gpu latency is between 22 and 30ms, usually mid-20s, but my fps is around 35 to 42 fps .

My pc is a i9 10850k and 32gb ram at 3866mhz clocked at 14 14 32 I believe. Cpu clocked at 5.1 ghz all core voltage is 1.28 and vram voltage is 1.4 . Gpu rtx 3080ti undervolted to 850mv and ocerclocked 95mhz ,1000 watt evga psu gold standard. Msi z490pro mb a 1 tb ssd Samsung. Arctic freeze cpu cooler . Part 3 I'm going to film tomorrow im hoping but won't have it edited until next week. I have a funeral to attend this weekend and I'll be out of town . Thanks for the comment .

Has anyone out there had the problem of the Pimax Crystal lenses constantly fogging up? If you have how did you solve it. Thanks for your help, Steve

Yep happens to me also . 1 thing that may help it to turn it on 10 mins prior to using it and let the lenses and inerds heat up more importantly the lenses need to be warm. Then put it on and you will have less fogging . You may also need to turn your screen timeout to a higher time frame. So the screen doesn't turn off in 20 seconds. This will help warm up the lenses.

Thanks for the comment . The only app you need running is pitool. Openxr companion and pimaxxr do not need to be opened. For msfs at least.

Could you tell me the Pimax Crystal is working with Luker Ross VR mod games? Like Cyberpunk VR or Elden Ring VR mod? Why i can't find any kind of gameplay video on the youtube ? Perhabs it isn'T working with Crystal? And the performance good or not and it will be much sharper also than with ther Reverb G2 ?

Again FINALLY. Thanks. I have been struggling with this headset setup for three days now. I do have the latest versions as of yesterday installed and running. And I do have the SteamVR part running fine. Now for my MS store bought version of flight simulator 2020. Do you just have the MS store bought flight simulator running. I see no link to it in the Pimax software. With Pimax "Play" and the other software running will it automatically then kick over to VR when asked to do so (Ctrl-Tab) ? In the original PiTool (which is now "Play"), it included a software linker for non-Steam games. Do you just drag and drop the ".exe" in the appropriate spot in Assets ? It ONCE AGAIN is very unclear. This part is Pimax's Achilles heel.

Thanks for the comment .. step 1 open pimax play , step 2 open msfs (store or steam version). Step 3 make sure your pimaxxr is set up like I showed here when done close it. If it's already set up like mine no need to open it same with openxr companion app keep it closed. Once in msfs alt tab and you are in vr. Make sure the pimax play Is connected to the headset before entering vr. Once in msfs vr mode . Ctrl f2 will open the openxr toolkit . Hope this answers your questions .

@@2020fsers Thanks. This is the detail that no one talks about. While I have an Oculus Rift on another machine, I bought the Pimax Crystal and a new 4090 machine for my MS store bought version of MSFS2020. I was running it on an XBox X. It has downloaded fine onto my new PC at no added cost. The Pimax really makes the Steam version of Google Earth VR pop. Since I have a Rift, I can compare.

@mesillahills yes the displays are awesome the lenses are great like looking through crystal glass and the color pop crazy . I am waiting on a new headstrap that looks promising if so I will have that in an upcoming vid. Better colors than the varjo aero imo

Thanks for the great video, very well done and great information. I just received my Crystal and have turned on the eye tracking. I did have a question regarding eye tracking and dynamic foveated rendering. With eye tracking enabled does that mean dynamic foveated rendering is also enabled?

Thanks for the comment . Ok so to help answer I would need to k own more info like what app arre you using dfr in . But I'll assume you are using the openxr toolkit so I'll go with that . Providing you turn on eye tracking In pimaxxr and pimax play like I show in the video . then in the openxr toolkit menu in vr turn on eye tracking and ffr now you are using eye tracking dfr. I personally don't use dfr I stay with ffr. I find that when I look to extents that I see Pixalization on the opposite side of the headset in my periferal due to the center of focus moving with your eyes.

Yeah, let me know how you like. The DFR over FFR. I had another firmware update just recently and I watched it this time and the second time was for the install and I think the first time was to confirm for the download.
