Hey Everyone,
In today's video, we're going to try to retofit the G80/G82 M3/M4 OEM Carbon Bucket Seats in my 2016 BMW F80 M3. As many of you know, the new 2021+ BMW M3 and M4 have an option where you can incredible OEM carbon racing seats, which look and perform AMAZING. While scrolling online, I saw that Go Fast Tuner Parts had a crashed M4 Comp in with them and I couldn't say no! New from the dealer, these seats are about $35,000, so I really hope they fit!

Hey! Once we have an update on working out the kinks, we'll leave an update here. As for the cost, the $35k you have to remember is MSRP as a retail customer. If you went to BMW to buy something like this, they jack up the cost and make you buy all of the components separately. With these seats specifically, dealers don't even have the ability to submit the order since the car is so new and parts are so scarce. I didn't pay anywhere near that much for them, since they were out of a crashed car, but they certainly weren't cheap 😅😅😅

By the way, if the seats are heated, let me know whether you sell your old M3 seats for a good price. I have the same color seat in my F30. It could be a great upgrade ;-)

BMW really nailed the interior on the new g80, however, the f80 still rocks the exterior in my opinion. Great job guys!

Sick mod! Recommendation for the seat going forward and backward…. Look at the pins inside the connection and swap them… that should do the trick… When I had my BMW n54 they came with the paddles that push to downshift and pull the upshift…. I swapped the pins in the connection to only allow the left side to downshift and right side to upshift. I think the same concept should apply! Give it a shot if needed. Questions let me know!

Sick mod! Due to the fact they come from M4 and are foldable, the rear-right passenger can move the seat in front all the way forward and fold - this should give him a real luxury place with lots of room! 👍

At the time the seats was revealed I was thinking "could i do a swap for my f32" 😅 they look so amazing! And for your seat belt situation: as far as i know the belt is mounted on a rail on the m4 so it can slide away for people to get into the rear but if you would have m3 seats there is a mount for your belt on the seat as like your m3 seats had. I did something similar with my E92 M3. I fitted M4 Comp seats to it. Was a bit of a nightmare with the wiring but the end result is amazing.

Why so hard to connect m4 Comp seats? They have same connector as long as your e92 m3 is 2011-2013. Should bolt and connect right up.

Hey man, just transfer the seatbelt module from your F80 seats - also if you had used a G80 seat (not a G82) you would have had the seat belt mount on the seat - the G82 uses a rail like the F82 - great vid though - thanks!

With regards to the bottom seatbelt mounting point, that is because your new seats are from a Coupe, so naturally the bottom front seatbelt mounting point is on the bottom of the B pillar. I encountered the same thing when I swapped AMG performance seats into my Mercedes C450 Sedan. I had to track down seats that had come out of Sedan.

I just as amazed by a red F80. I’ve been looking for an F80 and have never seen a red one. It’s seems 80% are either white, silver, or grey. I’d love a red one, but will probably go with black.

I had the same problem with the controls when I swapped my competition seats into my m4, swapped over the old modules and everything was ok

I bought a pair of Cobra Nogaros for my Z4M Coupe. There is a special bracket and wiring you can do to get back and forth movement. They're certainly not as nice as these seats but they're about a tenth of the price!

I got the same result when I changed my F48 X1 to sport seat--- press forward and the seat more backward. The dealer of my place didn't know how to fix that. It became normal when I took my car to a Hifi install store and he changed the pole of the connector. However, I suspect that the connector of the safety belt was not work rather than a coding problem. I suggest to check the connection when the belt is clipped on.

Maybe you can put washers to the mounting points to level the height with the seatbelt mounted at the bottom. But the torque spec probably will need to be different though. Probably not the end of the world but it is a safety component after all.

Try using the driver profiles feature for seat memory. So instead of it being on the seat or on the door it will be in the I drive system. Also you can have it so when you start your car driver profiles comes up and you can select who is driving.

To fix seat moving in opposite direction, just use ista to initialise seats and it should sort it out

I made the same mod on my 335i, I put the entire M3 e92 interior and the problem was like here... I mean, everything was working, but in opposite way and to fix this I had to replace all the motors of the seats with my original ones(from the seats).After this, all the electrical commands was 100% functional.I guess is the same situation here.

Just flip the polarity of the front/back adjustment switch wires so the seats move in the right direction.

I really enjoyed the real time troubleshooting and transparency! Those seats are beautiful! $35k! You can buy a brand new Subaru WRX, for example, for that money! Congrats on the new seats and great content as always. Also, not a DIY... noted!

Perhaps it is the wiring soldering you did that is contributing to the backwards back/forward movement on the drivers seat?

Love the seats, I've got two pole position Recaros to go in my m4 but having a hell of a time getting the original bracket bolts out, what power impact driver did you use? Maybe my 18v standard isn't cutting it.

This so cool, I've always wanted an F82 and when these Bucket seats came I got confused on wether I should go for the F82 or G82 cause I liked the seats, I even thought of getting an F82 then swapping to seats out to the bucket G82 seats but I thought it sounded ridiculous and here we are, you guys did it, The whole point of Kies Motorsports is to show people that anything is possible

Should see if you can remove the forward/back switch and flip it so it reflects th actual movements, or you can just re-pin the harness.

The difference in the belt mount is not on g and f series ist the difference with a coup and the sedan. on the coup it has to mount on the b pillar cause of the folding seats so you can get in the back. on the sedan they all bolt on the seat. i fitted some coup seats in my f30 sedan. i pulled the whole seat appart and got a new lower seat frame and that worked. i can send pics if you want
