Actually the worst example is the most expensive two Super Duty trims they aren’t offered with the camper package. I’m more of a Ford fan and find this extremely disappointing.

Amen! I've always been a Ford guy, and my 2011 F150 XLT is starting to show its age. FX4 package is a joke, and Raptor is way too expensive with dealer markups. After watching Ram and Chevy eat away at their sales with Rebel/Trail Boss, Ford releases the Tremor package, but again its way too $$$. In a year or two when I'm in the market for a truck, this will definitely be top on my list to try out, especially the Custom trim. It's got exactly what I need, and nothing I don't, as you said. Great job Chevrolet.

What kit did you get for the steering wheel?

I had a 2018 GMC Sierra with the leather wrapped steering wheel Prior to the Custom Trail Boss and the dark grey leather kit from them gets me about 95 percent of the way back to what I had for very little investment. I’ve had it for three months now and it has really formed well to the wheel and feels very natural in hand now.

How did you get it for 40k? Cheapest I'm seeing is 45500. I want one bad. Especially for that low a price.

My truck, 2021 Custom Trail Boss, Crew Cab, short bed, 6.2/10 speed, Custom Convenience and Infotainment Packages, Dark Essentials Package and the complete floor liners front and rear (Weather Tech knockoffs) had a sticker of $47,955 or 48K. In December of 2020 the “Family First” discount got it to $41,596 without me negotiating at all. After a long Friday of negotiating they gave me another $1000 off about thirty minutes before close and I picked the truck up after it was prepped on Saturday. If you want I can email you the info and there are several ways to get the discount. Most people can get the GM Supplier discount from someone in their family. If that doesn’t work the law Enforcement, fire fighting, EMT and military discounts are there. If you do research on discounts before you go and stalk the truck you want while it is in transit to the dealer you can usually do pretty well. Just make sure the dealer doesn’t make up for a good price with your trade in or in financing. I also had that lined up before I went. They like to interchange the vehicle price, trade in and financing and when you think you have a bargain on one area...they change the number somewhere else. I like to work each part separately and lock them in to a number. So, get to a price on the truck and that is that... if you have a trade in they should be willing to be in the range Chevrolet has for your trade in on the online tool for the website. You won’t get the top dollar... but you should not get hosed either... the dealer needs to make some money... not gouge you. And finally, have some finance options and don’t let them ask you “what payment are you looking for?”

Not bad man , I got mine for 45k cash. It came equipped with spray in bed liner , back seat compartments, compartment underneath the back seats. Z71 flooring mats, 3 year free oil changes, upgraded alarm. I couldn’t get it anywhere else for cheaper near the Los Angeles area :/

Same I'm 27 and ordered a midnight edition custom tb with 6.2 10 speed I had to special order it seems like the trailboss Flys off the lot tool close to 4 months to get suppose to be here this week

@@brettcromer1061 Nice yeah I got to wait a bit more to get mine but even the trail bosses that are close to the one I want go within a week or two. Either going to have to special order mine or find a dealer who wants to trade with another dealer far away.

My Gladiator had it and I hated it. I kept forgetting to take the key fob out of the truck, surprised it was never stolen. Of course I'm an old school baby boomer so I really didn't care for the push button start. Sold the Gladiator last week and I'm buying a Custom Trail Boss tomorrow.

I love turn key and a shifter lever in the column

I have a 2020 LT Trail Boss with he 5.3 and love it especially since I can run regular gas in it. The extra power of the 6.2 would be nice but I didn't need it and spent the money on leather buckets and other convenience options on the truck.

Me also 3 months ago Chevrolet Silverado Custom 1500, with 6,600 miles now with 20" wheels and loving it so far..

You bought in 2020. 2021 that’s just not the case.

@@pablod3734 yeah, major difference. I traded in a 18 Silverado with a 5.3 on the Trail Boss. The 6.2 is a beast.

Ehh. It's decent. This needed a Zr2 package but I ended up going with the Zr2 rado. Runs circles around this thing off pavement

Yeah, it would be nice if they at least had traction control that worked on the front wheels, similar to Toyota's ATRAC. It's not as good as a front locker, but in that situation it would have transferred some power over to the wheel with traction.

He was bottoming out the truck… of course he would get stuck. And his approach wasn’t the best. Change tires and you’ll be shredding through it

Great purchase. I have the 2020 LT Trail Boss with the 5.3 and I totally love it. I get compliments all of the time about it. I am a volunteer EMT in town and one of the cops is always telling me how much he loves my truck... lol. We were on an MVA and I'm doing patient care on the side of the road and he comes over and starts telling me how nice it looks... haha.

Pretty sure these do not have a center differential. All the auto feature does is engage the front axle when it is deemed necessary.

@@trailrunnah8886 the transfer case has a clutch that is electronically actuated to vary torque to the front axle as needed. When in 4Auto the front axle is always engaged.

That's actually not how the current system works at all. There are no auto locking hubs, the transfer case has a clutch that modulates torque to the front axle. It's the same system that Jeep uses in the Grand Cherokee.

You aren't going to actually pay that much. Most times you can get it lowered with discounts and rebates

No need to question this Chevy's long term reliability and longevity because there won't be any.

The 6.2 is a great motor like the 5.3 V8. I have a 2015, 4X4, 5.3, Double cab and it has been a great truck.

I’m wondering the same thing! A lot of Chevy catalogs mention the custom trail boss comes equipped with the safety confidence package, but my 2021 custom trail boss does not have it nor the nicer steering wheel

@@marcusgonzalez8093 I did a quick search of KZfaq videos on the Custom Trail Boss and found a number of reviewers had a Custom with the nicer steering wheels so they are out there. Then I would go to a junk yard and find a wrecked Silverado with the center column and bucket seats.

There's a couple of packages you can upgrade the trim level on to get the steering wheel mounted controls for the driver information center.

There is a ZR2 for the 22 refresh it was announced few months above.

Incorrect. Go read about the Magna Powertrain MP3000-series transfer cases or the Magna Ultimax 4WD system. The transfer case doesn't have a locking center diff, but it does have an electromechanical clutch that can vary torque output or be fully locked. It is a full-time 4WD transfer case and is the same setup that Jeep uses in the Grand Cherokee that has full-time 4WD.

@@dieseldrax thanks for the info, I stand corrected. I guess I was half-right, about it not having a center differential. I was under the impression from another video I had seen on this that it basically just engaged and disengaged the transfer case via the regular mechanism, I didn't realize there was a clutch involved. Kind of like my old full-time Grand Cherokee ZJ, that had the NP249 which had a viscous coupling. Once the rear wheel spun, it generated in enough friction to lock up the coupling and send torque to the front. It worked pretty well until the fluid in the coupling got old and was basically engaging the front end all the time, it was similar to driving a part-time vehicle in 4 high on dry pavement. I ended up swapping out the transfer case.
