3 жыл бұрынThis is a recording of the 2021 National Periodic Test of the Emergency Alert System from a selection of Cincinnati area radio stations. Our LP-1 station (WLW-AM) is also a national PEP station, so you can get a feel for how the EAS daisy chain works.

Answers to questions I've seen elsewhere:
- Why didn't I get the test alert on my phone?
This NPT was sent as a test alert in the WEA system so you have to opt in to get it. On Android phones it's a toggle switch, but on iPhone you have to dial a code to opt in.

This was so chaotic to listen to but also so intriguing. It's interesting how the stations shown commence the EAS at different times, but they're still somewhat close together.

My late farther used to maintain that cable companies (etc) were running these tones specifically to annoy him. Granted they saturate hearing aids, but I couldn't convince them otherwise. The screen even said "required monthly test."

WLW’s local EAS box must be not programmed properly.
