You're the first reviewer I've seen to not like the Godzilla engine. The 6.7 is a beast for sure but there are reasons to consider the gas over the diesel: $9,000 cheaper, 500 pounds lighter (which transfers to your payload capacity) and much simpler/cheaper to maintain. It also smoked the TFL tow test on the "Ike Gauntlet" so it's no slouch. Personally I'd go for the diesel on the F-350 if I was towing over 15K.

BTW. The f150 And 250up don’t have the same transmission the only similarity is that they are both 10 speeds 10r80 and 10r140.

Give you a C+ on the review. I could be wrong, but it appears you lack common knowledge regarding the modern diesel engines placed in most pickup trucks the last 15 to 18 years. The environmentalist have caused the government to place too many restrictive devices on diesel engines...which leads to reliability and durability issues and problems, causing down time and very expensive repair bills. Numerous Class 2 and Class 3 pickup truck owners have switched to new more powerful V8 gas engines. Only truck owners who tow frequently and or tow very heavy loads should be buying pickups with diesel engines.

Well with the cost of modern diesels these days it makes sense that 3/4 and 1 ton trucks are going going back to big blocks again.

I agree. I owned a 6.7 diesel truck and loved in. It was more truck than I needed most days. The 6.2 gas F250 still does what I need. I think the 7.3 gas with the 10 speed will be a good solution after that trucks been in the market for a while and they’ve fixed all the little things that happened in the first year or two of newly designed products.

When you’re reviewing and not buying it’s easy to say get the diesel and the Tremor. That’s another 15,000 to the price. The Godzilla has plenty of capabilities and as for the Tremor, id rather get the FX4 and level it myself and put the tires I want on it. Heated rear seats are part of the ultimate package.
@15Jeep
@15Jeep 3 жыл бұрын
Two comments to your post. 1. I originally thought about getting the FX4 instead of the Tremor for the same reasons you stated. However, after recently working on a "Build and Price" on a 2021 Lariat trim with Ultimate Package and Black Appearance Package on the Ford website, I changed direction and decided to go with the Tremor Package instead of the FX4. Ford discounts the Tremor Package $570 for the Ultimate Package and another $570 for the Black Appearance Package. In addition, subtract the $400 for FX4...money I would have spent anyway. I just placed an order on March 30, 2021 for a 2022 F350 Lariat - Ultimate Package - Black Appearance Package - Tremor Package and most all options EXCEPT: Adaptive Steering and Pro Trailer Backup Assist (Sissy Boy Knob) with the extra 3 cameras. I wanted the Ultimate Trailer Tow Camera System...but not at the expense of $1655 and the SISSY BOY KNOB. Anyone that wants or needs that knob on the dashboard of their truck has no business towing a trailer. It is not a bad value given the Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac 285 / 75R - 18 tires mounted on decent looking factory rims. I like the 18 inch rim better for off-road compared to 20 inch rims. The tire size is great.....35.1 inches tall and only 11.2 inches wide...with decent mud lugs that have a fair amount of siping...a tire that will perform much better than average on hard snow packed paved roads and off-road in the mud. The only aftermarket rims I would consider having on my truck would be the Black Rhino Armory rims.....no holes to cake up with mud...causing the rims and tires to be out of balance when getting back on paved roads. The other considerations are having the off-road Rock Crawl and Trail Control drive modes. Furthermore, I plan to install a Carli Suspension and should easily be able to sell the Tremor Package suspension on eBay for $1200 to $1500. The later would make the Tremor Package either FREE or a slight profit...given the discounts from Ford previously mentioned. 2. Heated Rear Seats are not part of the Ultimate Package on a Lariat trim level truck. Heated Rear Seats are a $300 option.

@@15Jeep ya fair enough. All boils down to preference I guess. I personally like 20s over 18s but that’s just me. I ordered a 22 as well. Star White 7.3 ultimate pkg and black package with FX4 and almost every option. Heated rear seats are included with ultimate in Canada. I currently have a ‘19 f-150 limited so made sure I got as many options I could to avoid missing anything I currently have. I think all I’ll be losing is massaging seats (which I never use) and the higher quality leather.

@@Darkangel-sw9lm Hey.....you will have a VERY NICE Ford Super Duty truck.....High Five! Good to know other people have researched and are well read on these expensive trucks. Think you are exactly and precisely correct...only thing not available on loaded Lariat trucks is the active motion (massaging) seats and the higher quality leather compared to the King Ranch and Platinum trucks. Although, the build orders on my truck and a friends truck did note one exception. The deployable running boards are only available with the Lariat trim....only of the lariat has both the Ultimate Package.....and either the Black Appearance Package OR the new Sport Appearance Package. I am in the Rocky Mountain Region and "mud season" is now underway. In this area, it is important to have tall and narrow tires with decent mud lugs that have siping. Not many tires like that made by the various manufacturers. In the future, I might go with a 37 inch tire.....37 x 12.50 -20. The Goodyear Wrangler MT/R Kevlar...like the 37.1 inch diameter...but would prefer a bit more narrow for the snow...12.0 instead of the 12.5. Might do that after adding the Carli suspension...the Back Country with Fox 2.0 remote reservoir shocks...would have to add the Carli radius arms for proper clearance. What tires do you run up in Canada???
@15Jeep
@15Jeep 3 жыл бұрын
Not sure if you plan to purchase aftermarket rims.....if so, you might consider the Black Rhino Armory rims. Those have a great military / tactical look...and no holes, gaps to cake up with mud causing an "out of balance" issue when getting back on paved roads. In addition, all the bolts are threaded...so can be removed if a change in color was the plan. Personally, I think the Armory rims would look great in the body color for most colors...like gray, white...or brown / desert colors.....blue or red might be a bit much.

Here are three other custom trim ideas for your truck. 1. Star White mirror caps 2. Black tailgate applique from Air Design 3. The black bar with 3 red lights between the tailgate and the rear bumper. This is DOT required on all DRW trucks in the U.S. Our trucks will have the cab / roof clearance lights and we are adding the black bar with the 3 red lights on the rear.

So, what’s better? AT4 2500HD or the “tremoring in my boots at the repair bills” Ford?
@15Jeep
@15Jeep 3 жыл бұрын
Some of he newer trucks have issues and problems...some more than others. Some people get good ones and some people get bad ones...from ALL manufacturers. General Motors has numerous reliability issues and problems on their trucks. Moreover, the AT4 is not anything special at all. Barely if any different than any standard HD 2500 or HD 3500 SRW. Both Chevrolet and GMC trucks are PATHETIC off-road. The GM 4WD trucks get stuck off-road way before a Ford or a Dodge truck. WHY??? 1. IFS Axle has poor articulation off-road. Heavy Duty Solid Front Axle performs off-road much better, is more reliable and less costly to maintain with fewer future repair bills. 2. POOR Approach Angle (front bumper hits a steep hill not allowing the truck to ascend) 3. POOR Departure Angle (rear bumper drags the hill on the end of the descent) 4. PATHETIC Breakover Angle (because of the low hanging frame rails) I have seen so many General Motors 4WD trucks become playground "teeter totters" on uneven terrain off-road in the Rocky Mountain states. 5. Small tires in a square / rectangle wheel well. The proverbial "round peg in a square hole".....STUPID body designs for 4WD trucks from GM engineers since 1973! The 2019 Chevrolet trucks have slight improvement. 6. POOR Center of Gravity - As the result of Number 5, 4WD GM trucks require too much lift for any given desired increase in tire height. The only 4WD GM trucks worth having are 1967 - 1972 model years. Check Out -------> rtechfabrications.com

You crack me up. If you want to spend the extra 10k for the Diesel have at it. The 7.3 is more than capable of getting the job done and this is coming from someone who has actually own 17 F350 with the 6.7. I loved it but I don’t love the 10k extra for it. So to each their own…just order the 7.3 Tremor so I think I’ll be just fine ..

I got to call you on the power of the Godzilla engine. It’s towing numbers meet / exceed the numbers of a one ton from 20 years ago. I’ve had four F-250s and had gas engines as well as the 6.4 and 6.7 diesel. All trucks are / were capable. Depending on what you tow & how often the are plenty of reasons to justify a gas over diesel. I tow a max about 13-14k lbs (trailer & load) weekly and typically about 100 miles. My 2020 F250 with a 6.2 gas handles it just fine. Granted that was cake walk with the 6.7 diesel. If you are towing everyday & heavy loads then 100% the diesel is best. Ford is smart, each engine meets a need for the Ford customer. IMHO.
