Sam's 2021 Ford F150 Gets Leveled! Falcon Sport Tow/Haul Shock Leveling System - Leveled F150
- In this video we have Sam's 2021 Ford F150 Lariat Sport gets the Falcon Sport Tow/Haul Shock Leveling System to bring the front end up 2.5" and lower the rear 1/2". It is now ready to take larger 33" tires and his new 20" wheels that are installed on the next video in this mod series. The Falcon Sport Tow/Haul Shock Leveling System has adjustable settings that allow you to keep your comfortable ride for daily driving, or switch to haul mode to load your bed and keep ride height or tow mode to really tighten up the suspension. The front coilovers are also manually adjustable to change ride height. Sam's 2021 F150 came stock with 32" tires on 18" wheels but it is about to get 33' tires on 33" wheels! This new Space White truck is about to look sweet!

I've had these on my 2018 f150 for a couple years and love them. Truck is much more controlled and handles great. When towing my TT it's even better. I also installed roadmaster active suspension to help with squat. Whole package makes towing so much easier.

Did either the Falcons or the Roadmaster AS make the DD ride significantly stiffer or rougher?
@jmpalmer23
@jmpalmer23 3 жыл бұрын
@@craigcerreta8367 the Falcons are definitely a little stiffer than stock but not uncomfortable. The reduced body roll on turns and overall increased control was worth it. I keep the backs on the lowest setting when daily driving. I installed the RAS after and I didn't notice any difference afterwards, other than the back end seems more planted. I can push it pretty hard through turns and it feels like a sports car.

@Jason Palmer: assuming you removed the factory bump stops to but the bags on? No issues with that? I’m about to pull trigger on Falcons too for my ‘17 F150, but I pull a 25’ TT (~5500lb) and don’t want it nose high. Would like to go with level setting as well. Thanks

@@cavemanfitness3255 I didn't put bags on. Just the Falcons and the RAS. The Falcons came with new bump stops that I put on. I will say the RAS did raise the back about an inch after the Falcons leveled it. But I think I looks better with a little bit of rake.

Let me know what you think Sam, these were what I originally wanted on my truck. Until I blew a tire and needed to act fast, of course a high schooler doesnt have unlimited money so I ended up with the BDS puck. Being a landscaper, when I need to tow it will not be fun without bags and the factory struts on the back, I will end up getting these eventually just may be a while.
@BackroadDriver
@BackroadDriver 3 жыл бұрын
My first impressions are very positive. I've only been able to drive the truck a few miles across town before the wheels and tires went on and then maybe a mile or two with the wheels and tires on. The Falcon shocks are exactly what I was looking for to improve performance and towing. A solid option at a much cheaper price point is the Billstein 5100 leveling kit. That's what I had on the EcoBoost and I really enjoyed the ride quality as well.
@americantrucknation4891

Thanks man! I looked them up, I should have done that right from the beginning. I payed $200 for the BDS, I didn’t have anything to compress the strut. I payed $130 for install. @BackroadDriver, your videos are great. Enjoy the brotherly camaraderie. Falcon shocks- if I don’t plan to tow much would you still recommend for the ride quality and level? Had them recommended to me. How have they held up? Second question- how are you liking the Venumrex’s? I just ordered a set of 20” 603’s. They owe you a kickback! Third question- what tire would you recommend? I’m going to be on the stock suspension for the 20’s (going up from 18”). Do almost all highway/around town but want as an aggressive a look as possible without much hum at high speed. So brand, model, size I can get away with. Lastly, mine is Oxford white and has the line-x in there. Turning out to be similar rigs. Best, Andrew

I have all the tech except for the fancy self-driving stuff. I believe it's called active prep 2.0. All of my systems work as intended and have had no issues. With the lariat 502a package and above you get the projector headlights and they have a self-leveling feature. After the level I didn't even need to adjust my headlights. They do it automatically. If you go more than a level, say a four or six inch lift they made need adjustment but as far as levels are concerned it just works.

Hey! Do you have any issues with rear dampening and know what they're trying to improve for gen14?
@BackroadDriver
@BackroadDriver 3 жыл бұрын
I have no issues at all with the way the truck drives and feels. It actually improves rear dampening. In the past the rear end would step out on you over bumps and I had the same issues with the 2021. It was a little bit sloppy over large bumps in the road from the factory. It feels much tighter and the rebound is more controlled with the new suspension. It is definitely stiffer but much more controlled. I sent multiple emails and had several phone calls with employees at TeraFlex. They let me know that there was a new part number coming for 2021. I made it very clear to them that I wanted to be one of the first to run the new setup but that is as far as I got. Since I wanted to put out content early on for the new F-150, I installed the kit that was available. I made it clear that I would love to get my hands on anything that was new for this model year but that did not happen. All I can tell you is that the current offering from Falcon shocks works well on the new 2021.

The ones I am interested in are the 4-6" Falcons SKU 05-04-32-400-406. I have a 2021 Tremor and there is a 1.5" rear and 1" additional travel on the stock suspension difference for the other F150. The rear shocks are what mainly helps with towing but the front strut shocks are the largest size that will fit without modifications. They have more dampening and rebound and are much stiffer than the factory ones so they will help control the load better. The factory shocks are built for a super cushy ride but they are quite floaty. The Falcon shocks basically tighten that up a little bit and keep your truck from floating all over the road when you have a heavy load hooked up.

Any issues when installing the 13th gen kit? Also did you have to have the sensors recalibrated? Thank you
@BackroadDriver
@BackroadDriver 2 жыл бұрын
No issues still to this day. You don't need to get any sensors recalibrated either. I have everything but the active prep kit AKA self-driving. The sensors on each corner of the truck adapted and I didn't even have to adjust the headlights after the level kit. The truck took care of that itself. If you don't have the projector headlights the XLT version might need to be adjusted manually.

Sam, on average how much should i expect to pay to install set of reservoir shocks such as yours? From your description it does seem like a rather straightforward install.
@BackroadDriver
@BackroadDriver 3 жыл бұрын
A few hundred dollars should get it done. I only paid $350 to have the shocks installed and my aftermarket exhaust fitted to the truck. That's a little low for most because we give those guys a lot of business and they know us. I would say somewhere between $200 and $300 would be fair. The rears are extremely easy. The fronts require the spring and strut to be lowered/removed along with sensors etc. Most any shop should be able to do this job fairly easy.

These have levels that you attach a ring to that holds the shocks. You can stick with the factory height, or there are two higher levels that raise up where the springs attach to the body of the shock, raising the overall height.
@ShockSurplus
@ShockSurplus 2 жыл бұрын
the front shock has different circlips that hold the coil spring seat. Depending on where this collar sits, will affect how much higher over stock the front of the truck will sit, since the springs are now being pre-loaded and wont settle as much.

I would say probably wouldn't hurt too bad. It will raise the front end up a tad so there will be a little bit more drag on the vehicle. Most people end up putting bigger wheels and tires on at the same time though and this will definitely bring miles per gallon down a couple.

It's a ride height sensor. There is also one of those in the front. They come on 502a and higher trim levels with the projector headlights. It allows the headlights to adjust if there is a large load in the bed or if there is a level on the truck. It's basically a safety feature. I have not had to adjust my headlights even though the Falcon shocks raise the front end up around two and a half inches.

On another video someone was also complaining about squeaking noise. After working with Teraflex they determined that the root cause was due to failing to remove the old dust shield included with the OEM struts. The video was not updated to reflect the change, therefore I cannot confirm that it solved his problem. The directions included with the shocks do state NOT to install the dust shield. I can see from Sam’s video that they kept the dust shield since you cannot see the yellow bump stop on the front strut. Sam are you experiencing similar issues? I haven’t installed mine yet, but I’m planning not to install the dust shields. Here’s the link. Read the comment section. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rN6hhc14u7yVgaM.html

It's a little bit stiffer but it also adds a little bit more control. I found myself looking for potholes to hit just because I thought it was funny. It's definitely not as cushy as the factory suspension but I think it feels the way an F-150 should come from Ford. Factory trucks often have the back end step out a little bit over railroad tracks or larger bumps. This never fills out of control and is very predictable.
