2021 GMC Yukon XL SLT - 3-Year/56,000-Mile Review - Pros and Cons

This is a long-overdue review of our 2021 GMC Yukon XL SLT. This is my wife's daily-driver and our main family vehicle. After nearly 3 years of ownership and 56,000 miles, we have definitely put this vehicle through it's paces. I give a brief overview of the Yukon and go over various pros and cons that my wife and I have come up with from our years of ownership.

Enjoyed your review. Were here in Texas also and make many trips with the kids being in tennis and powerlifting. Anywhere you go in Texas is a long trip, so interior room is a must, the interior is huge. Ours is a short version or yours SLT except pearl beige metallic. Love it, to say the least. Drives much smaller than it actually is. So far we have 30k on ours and no issues. I just wish we had the adaptive cruise control.

Really quick question. Does yours have adaptive cruise control? I just bought a 2021 and it seems like it would because it has the gap adjust, I just can’t figure out how to activate it

Good question. I had initially thought that ours must have had adaptive cruise as well, for the same reason you stated. But unfortunately, it does not. Justthe gap adjust.

16.5 mpg as a “pro” for this vehicle????

For it's size and weight, I think so. Our 2016 Ford Expedition 2WD got about the same (16.7) with the twin turbo V6, which is supposed to be more "economical" being dubbed "EcoBoost". The 5.3L V8 in the Yukon has held it's own against engine's that are supposed to be more fuel efficient. That's hand-calculated and averaged. The computer average over the same period of time is 17.22. The Yukon's running tally for is actually up since the publication of this video. It currently sits at 16.68 mpg, as of 8/2/2024. I've had several vehicles with worse mpg. Including the 2020 Ram Power Wagon (11.32), 2021 Jeep Rubicon 392 (12.11), and 2019 Ram Rebel (13.5), just to name a few. Perhaps that is why I consider 16.7 to be a "pro".
