I've had an M-416 military cargo trailer since '87. I sprayed it in and out with black bed liner, re-wired it for 12V, gave it new wheel bearings, and mounted some 235 /75s on Samurai wheels and slapped those on and called it good. I think having A LITTLE "nose down, tail up" rake when hitched makes for a better towing experience. To me, having a little rake seems to make it less "slam-bangy" when towing it over any terrain, and it is easier to back up than if level or nose up when hitched. When hitched to M-151 MUTT's, the things had a little nose-down rake. When the NG is pulling trailers like yours behind their Humvee's, they seem to have a little nose-down attitude, too. Few things have enhanced my enjoyment of the outdoors like my military cargo trailer has. It holds enough to I can have a really comfortable tent-camping experience without loading down my Jeep with a bunch of crapola. And, it's handy for hauling crapola to the dump, or getting different crapola my wife buys at yard sales home.

I did not get to test this as I did not purchase the on-board battery (sold separately). But according to the Amazon listing, it's supposed to add about 10 hours of run time to the fridge/cooler. I'm sure that time is going to depend on factors like, environment, items stored, etc. amzn.to/4dz0dnD

@TheNotSoOrdinaryCarGuy
@TheNotSoOrdinaryCarGuy 10 күн бұрын
I think it could make it. How well might depend on the sand conditions (ie: how wet the sand is, amount of debris, etc). I think you have ample clearance but if you air down (which would be advisable for having more traction), you'd probably lose about a half inch to an inch of ground clearance. Just something to keep in mind.

5:48 what about when you want to take a hard corner?
@TheNotSoOrdinaryCarGuy
@TheNotSoOrdinaryCarGuy 10 күн бұрын
Hard cornering is probably the only thing this thing can't do well. I have had to adjust the way I drive and gotten to know the limits. I've owned some pretty well-handing cars before and the Jeep's lack of cornering ability is just something I'm willing to give up in order to have this. I'd say if you lean more towards handling and high speed but still want some level of off-roading, something like the TRX or Bronco Raptor might be more suitable.

@@honestnewsnetI think the “correct n clear” bottle that they include, kind of preps the surface for the paint to adhere to it better. Making sort of a “primer” coating, if you will. 16.5 mpg as a “pro” for this vehicle????
@TheNotSoOrdinaryCarGuy
@TheNotSoOrdinaryCarGuy 12 күн бұрын
For it's size and weight, I think so. Our 2016 Ford Expedition 2WD got about the same (16.7) with the twin turbo V6, which is supposed to be more "economical" being dubbed "EcoBoost". The 5.3L V8 in the Yukon has held it's own against engine's that are supposed to be more fuel efficient. That's hand-calculated and averaged. The computer average over the same period of time is 17.22. The Yukon's running tally for is actually up since the publication of this video. It currently sits at 16.68 mpg, as of 8/2/2024. I've had several vehicles with worse mpg. Including the 2020 Ram Power Wagon (11.32), 2021 Jeep Rubicon 392 (12.11), and 2019 Ram Rebel (13.5), just to name a few. Perhaps that is why I consider 16.7 to be a "pro".

I just picked up an F150 V8 with the ten speed trans. Last three fill ups had hand calculations in the 18 mpg range. Trip meter said 20 mpg. Going to assumenit will drop doing Amazon stuff. Do you start and stop your ignition for each stop? I'm curious about additional wear and tear and fuel savings or not. Thanks for making the video!
@TheNotSoOrdinaryCarGuy
@TheNotSoOrdinaryCarGuy 17 күн бұрын
Congrats on the new ride! Sounds like it is very fuel efficient for even a half-ton. I usually just leave the engine idling as I only spend less than a minute at each stop. I figure it's not worth starting and stopping the engine each time as that would be sometimes close to 30 or 40 times each shift. Although, Amazon does recommend turning the engine off at each stop, locking the doors, and taking the key with you. My truck comes with a key fob and I usually lock the doors when I leave it running and take the key fob with me. After 3 years and 3000 deliveries, I've never had any issues. Take that for what it's worth. And thank you! And just to clarify more on the fuel cost, I have ran the numbers and basically 30% of the total earnings for each block go to fuel. Some might say, well doesn't some of that also go to taxes? Well, at the end of the year I've been able to claim mileage and it's always been enough to off-set the taxes that would be paid. Please consult a tax advisor as everyone's financial situation is different. But that's been a good even number for me to work with and it allows me to gauge if a block offer amount is worth doing. Just my $0.02.

@TheNotSoOrdinaryCarGuy valuable feedback. Thank you! My LLC was started very late last year so I had no income prior to tax season. This year I expected the same result. I drive enough and my home office deductions are enough that I expected to not have any tax liability on the LLC income. If I can get some delivery stuff squared away by end of year it might even extend I to my W2 earnings. We will see. I wish I had push button ignition now. Maybe I'll buy a couple extra fobs from Amazon and carry 2 with me if I end up doing this. Hmm...

If 2-wheel drive without posi-traction, ONLY DEFLATE REAR-RIGHT TIRE !!!🛞 YOU DON'T NEED TRACTION IN WHEELS THAT DON'T SPIN WHEN YOU'RE STUCK !!!! MAKES IT HARDER ON THE 1 OR 2 TIRES THAT DO THE WORK. IF YOU HAVE 4x4, the weight of the engine helps Front De-flated tires more at crawling out when stuck. May not have to deflate back tires as much. Saves time on re-inflation. Enjoy PINS. GOOD LUCK and MAY THE FISH BE WITH YOU!!!! P.S. Thanks for the advice! I only deflated the M1102's trailer tires down to 17psi from the 23 or so, that I was running on the highway. The recommended pressure for that trailer's tires is 17psi, regardless of trail conditions. I just inflated them for the highway to help with fuel economy and the weight. I'm really curious if my mpg might have been better had the trailer's tires been at a higher psi. it might not have been dragging as much in the sand.
