ok, I just did this. Couple things to help everyone out.. if you compress the springs just enough until loose to get out the OEM shocks you will not be able to get the top shock rod to poke through the top shock mount. You need to compress that spring until it gives you clearance to get the shock rod through the top mount and you can get the nut on. Approx 3 inches of exposed threaded rod on coil compression tools. Bilstein is painfully slow in helping you if you call/text them. If you don't have an impact gun I wouldn't even start it unless you like to fight with everything. Once the coil is compressed and you have to remove the top shock nut in the mount, everything will just spin unless you have the power of an impact socket to spin the nut off. If you don't, you need to use a wrench to hold the top of the rod and then find something to back the nut off. The nut is recessed so nearly impossible to get ahold of it. I recommend using a spray lubricant before even trying. My truck is brand new and the nut was still a pain. To be honest most nuts are a pain without an impact gun. Sway bars, tie rod end both need a way of holding the bolt when tightening the nut. If you don't have a pass through socket set to do both it can be tricky. I certainly appreciate the video, would never attempt without it. This kind person even helped me when I reached out on a holiday weekend. Thanks man!! I just want you to know this upgrade isn't for everyone and a second set of hands is appreciated. Also if you don't have deep sockets that fit all these nuts buy them. Don't wait, just buy them. You need them. Good luck!

Great video! This will be my next upgrade on my 21 Rebel in Billet Silver. I have been wanting to do it after watching WF41 do his, but just haven't got around to doing it. I upgraded to a Borla S Type and it's perfect. The ATAK was a bit much for me. Like you, I live in PA and deal with the salt and brine in the winter. I took the plunge and had mine fully rustproofed with New Hampshire Oil Undercoating (NHOU) and happy I did. Hopefully the top nut on the strut isn't corroded like yours were. Anyway, thanks again and for the details in the description box!

great video. at 8.30 you describe the RC 3 - 3.5 UCA and also mention the Rebel comes with a 1in lift. Well that 1in goes away when you remove the OEM strut (which adds the 1in lift) and replace with the Bilstien 5100 (2in lift). So the net increase is only 2in not 3in.

Did you realign your headlights?

Did you have to compress the spring even farther to get the nut on top of the new shock? Because you moved the bottom coil mount up approx 2 inches that means the top of the shock doesn't stick through the top bucket.

I'm in the process of upgrading to Bilstein 6112 and RC UCA to level my Rebel. When looking at the 6112 specs, it was mentioned that to get a 2" lift, it needs to be at the 8th circlip. The 5th circlip will only raise it by 0.8". Does the 5100 have the same lift height specs? I don't want a reverse rake.

Great video. What are the official end measurements of the front end height after installation? Also, how does it compare to the rear end height? I believe Waterfowler said he only got ~1.6" from this lift and wanted to see if you got similar results.

I was wondering if you’ve had any issues with the RC upper control arms. I know RC says they’re for minimum 3” of lift and technically your set up is a little lower. I’m trying to find the right pair of upper control arms for my rebel that I’ll be putting the Bilsteins on.

Do you have to upgrade the UCAs with the bilstein 5100s?

After doing my do diligence.. lol I finally settled on the JBA UCAs with the Bilstein 5100 front & rear, ride quality is a tad firmer with sports car like handling.. it’s a fun truck to drive & have not noticed any gas mileage difference still 17 mpg combined with Etorque. Would probably be better if I would stop listening to the Borla..

You used the original front springs, correct? Basically got a full 3" total?

Cool bucket bolts can be zipped off from engine bay and on passenger side remove air box

I lowered the back 2in on mine.

Any update on ride quality? Did it soften or stay stiffer than stock?
