I have a 2020 SE 6MT too! I got the hatchback. I bought it without knowing how to drive a manual. LOL! But it was super easy to learn with this car. By the way, if you want the manual, but you can't find the exact car you want, your dealership can special order one for you, straight from the factory. Whatever trim level and color you want, the salesman can order it, no problem. You are not stuck buying whatever's on the lot. But you just have to be very patient. It took three months for my car to arrive after my salesman special ordered it for me. But that was because of the long transit time from Japan to the US. It would take a lot less time if you order a car from the Mississippi plant.

This car has wold leading engine ant transmission technology, it's 2.0 engine has %40 thermal efficiency (the best in the world for mass production engine). Japanese have had the bast manufacturing technology and engendering since 70s and 80s and they have been producing the best mass mass production engines since that. Back than their metallurgy technology was far superior than that of other countries and only they could build long stroke engines that were high revving, due to mass production of light and strong crankshafts. They were smooth, economical and powerful even before ECUs were become thing. That's how they concarade the world. Then they showed how injection, variable valve timing, active awd systems and turbocharging is done properly and reliably. They were also first to implement these technologies in mass production of affordable vehicles. And they always use high quality materials, components and production for their engines and transitions along with proper, reliability conscious injenering. German cars are unreliable, not because they are complex, but because they use cheap materials, cheap production process and reliability unconscious engineering for their engines and transmissions. Carbon build up (due to cheap, unsophisticated direct injection systems), oil consumption and cluttering (due to bad design), bore erosion (due to the lack of proper inserted iron sleeves, because it's cheaper to spray some coding on aluminum block) camshaft and crankshaft wear (due to cheaper weacker materials). BMW also likes to overheat. Vag group likes to use older engines with modern tech on top and cheap dual clutch transmissions. That's wright, DCT is far cheaper to produce than proper torque convertor once. Overall their transmissions are cheap and unreliable. These are well known issues with modern german cars. That's why they don't last more than 100k. They simply aren't meant to last, since in Europe: the older your car is and the bigger engine it has - the more taxes you pay. And really old cars aren't allowed, it's only logical for them to not care about the car making it over 5-10 years and 100k miles. Lexus LS 460 was very complex machine for it's time (2007 2012) with it's grown braking 8 speed auto, direct injection high compression engine with active egr cooling, vvti and complex suspension. it is expensive to maintain, yet there are a lot of them with 300+ k miles on the clock while almost none of W221 S classes that passed 200k. Because it has high quality key components. And mark my words: new twin turbo V35A-FTS v6 in Lexus LS 500 will outlast (milagewise) German turbo 6es, just like old Lexus atmo V8es had outlasted old German atmo V8es.

In economics and industrial design, planned obsolescence (also called built-in obsolescence or premature obsolescence) is a policy of planning or designing a product with an artificially limited useful life, so that it becomes obsolete (i.e., unfashionable, or no longer functional) after a certain period of time.[1] The rationale behind this strategy is to generate long-term sales volume by reducing the time between repeat purchases (referred to as "shortening the replacement cycle").[2] It is the deliberate shortening of a lifespan of a product to force consumers to purchase replacements.

The JBL is available on the SE with the option package, but not with the 6 speed manual or Nightshade Edition. 2021 also has the available cross traffic monitoring. The SE/XSE finally has decent HP, as does the Honda Civic Sport Sedan with reliability and longevity over the GDI Turbo Honda Civic upper trim level sedans and hatchbacks. There is a special Apex Edition option, based on the SE/XSE trim level in a limited number, with a portion of those available with the 6 speed manual. It will have similar suspension, cosmetic and exhaust upgrades to the Camry TRD, but not being named a TRD may mean that the Corolla may have a modified output TRD in the future, as the Corolla is more likely to be molded than the Camry. TRD already has a high flow performance air filter, snd now a cold air intake and oil filter kit. There are now a growing number of suspension, brake, body kits and other upgrades for the new Corolla Sedan and Hatchback. The SE is a great vue, especially with the options. As it includes almost all the goodies of the XSE for a lot less, like the Civic Sport Sedan. No power or heated cloth seats, no adaptive headlights, ambient interior lighting, hood liner, wireless phone charger and an analog/digital instrument panel display. Though the full LED IP display on the XSE is nice, I kind of like the SE anslog gauges and and omissions mentioned sbove for simplicity, functionality, less things to break despite Toyota reliability and the SE with the top of the line 800 watt JBL stereo from the Camry XSE, albeit no CD player. I plan to get a loaded Blueprint SE, unless I can spring for the XSE. But I could get the SE and use the saved money for tinted windows, accessories, and the suspension, brake, and intake mods, and maybe exhaust comparabke yo the Apex edition.

If they can avoid going nuts with the price like Mazda did with the turbo 3, the GR Corolla could be a big hit for Toyota. Just like paying near $35k for what is basically just the best version of a compact economy car (Mazda 3 which admittedly punches above it's weight, I seriously considered one until the dealerships outbid me) is hard to swallow, same applies to a Corolla that stickers north of $30k. Once a certain price point kicks in, the mental "hmm..what else is in this same price range?" comes into play.

Why does the current Corolla still have an analog dash in 2020????? Every analog dash I ever had always freezes in the winter and gets stuck in the hot weather....or they simply just stop working with age and need to be fixed. Honda is ahead of Toyota with technology and dashboard...but Toyota has the edge on quality. It is obvious they are now noticing this, But they still need to do a bit more in regards to technology and aesthetics. Also why did they put the Toyota logo on the hood of the car instead of the grill on the SE trim? The logo belong on the grill in the front, looks amateurish on the hood.

I’m looking to buy a new sport compact sedan and I’m between the 2021 corolla se and the 2020 Mazda 3. They are about the same price, less than a $1000 difference, what do you think is better?
@alvinsimba7343 жыл бұрын
That depends what you want. Here is how I can put it for you. Resale value 5 years = mazda 10 years time = corolla. With mazdas from experience if you someone who keeps cars up to 5 or 6 years then mazda. After that time frame they become pricey to maintain. Whereas with toyota, the cost of ownership is super low and they last way way longer without much work done in honesty. Got an 05 matrix thats still going while at the same time i got the 2020 corolla le with me as well.

Wait! @ 18:30. You said corolla can get 200-300K miles! Are those miles possible for a CVT car? Unlike a timing chain, the CVT belt gets warped after ~80K miles and costs a fortune to replace the transmission!

* many people are not confident that CVT's are as reliable long term as an old school geared auto transmission. I've heard that Aisin CVT transmissions are better than Jatco CVT's (2 major manufacturers). I wonder which one Toyota uses, or do they use their own? * glad this car doesn't have that ridiculous 'auto start/stop' feature that turns the engine off at red lights and stop signs * why do car dealerships put their cheesy, eyesore advertisements on the rear of these gorgeous new cars?
@alvinsimba7343 жыл бұрын
Toyota uses aisin transmission and its way better than jatco. Most manufacturers are going CVT route just so you know. Many people were fear mongered due to nissan cvt but if people in general follow the maintenance of their vehicles, shouldn't be that many problems. The CVT is like night and day compared to regular automatic.

Toyota still refuses to Turbo anything. I don't get it.
@rayemanuel74604 жыл бұрын
@Shamur Stewart actually not quite true. Turbos add a great deal of stress to these small displacement engines and increase internal heat. Direct injected turbos are even worse because of carbon deposits that form on the valves, thereby requiring cleaning about every 30k miles. My friend works as a tech at a Honda dealership. He bought a brand new car last month. Guess which one he went with? He really liked the Civic turbo, but purchased an XSE Corolla instead due to its dependability and low maintenance. He says that he sees far too many Civic Turbos come in for service to have the carbon cleaned from the engine as well as oil dilution problems.
