I just got this exact car (LE) and I love it. Yes, the acceleration really isn't there, but as it's been pointed out the isn't a sports car and isn't designed for that kind of torque. I wasn't looking for power I was looking for fuel economy and I only spend about $30 a week in gas. My average mpg is 32.8 and that's all city as I haven't taken it on a long distance trip yet. This car is exactly what I needed.

What an awful review. Not sure what this guy is expecting from a base Corolla. You can get a 2.0 engine with Direct-shift CVT (has a physical first gear for better of the line acceleration) if you want more power (not that you need it). Regardless of trim Corolla handles really well and takes corners like a champ. Has great fuel economy and best in class with 2.0 engine. And most importantly as always you’d get that Toyota reliability.

I have a 2021 Corolla LE as well, and I have mixed feelings about it. My main complaints would be the CVT kinda jerks when you try and accelerate from a stop, and overall feels like you have to give it a lot of power to get it to go. The second thing would be when I'm on the highway going 70, the car feels very wobbly. In high winds it can sometimes be difficult to maintain a straight track in the lane. Other than those 2 things, I have enjoyed having it as a daily driver.

I test drove a new LE last year, and there is a significant delay from a stop if you go for full speed ahead. When I drove moderately as I usually would, it felt fine to me in traffic on the busy road the dealer is on. I recently purchased a 2009 Corolla with the 4 speed auto. It feels surprisingly peppy from a stop and shifts smoothly even with 160,000 miles on it. They claim CVT’s are much more efficient, but I got 32.3 MPG on my first tankful checked at the pump. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I think you've gotten spoiled with driving Corvettes and Teslas lol this is a totally different review from your 2020 Corolla review. I bought a 2020 Corolla LE in January 2020, is it a sports sedan? No. Was it trying to be? No. Is it a compact sedan built to a price point with certain features that they know consumers want? Yes. I drive 50 minutes each way, 5 days a week mix of highway and normal road conditions, it's totally livable. My biggest complaint is the interior plastics are crap. Just the cheapest plastics I've ever felt. I recommend people get the SE rather than the LE.
@alvinsimba734

The 2005 matrix up to now, never changed the shocks since new 2004 and now with almost 300k km on it, that should tell you something there. Hey there! I recommend driving the SE, XSE trim levels as they come standard with a 2.0 engine which makes a reasonable 169 hp. I know it’s not too much of a difference over the 132 hp made by the 1.8 engine that you have on the LE and the XLE trim levels, but it adds a lot to the driving experience. And those extra ponies come with a better fuel economy.

I will speak from experience especially with this current gen of the corolla as I have the 2020 corolla LE. I also own the 2005 toyota matrix and comparing for these two. The corolla like in this video is really slow from the go compared to 2005 toyota matrix where its quicker from the go. All my driving between city and highway for the corolla it ranges from 1500 rpms to 2800 rpms including high elevations. On the highway with 2005 matrix, at 75 mph you will be around 3000rpms whereas same speed with this current corolla its 2000rpms and I can even go all the way to 85mph still at 2000rpms whereas the matrix at 85mph you are closer to 4000rpms. For fuel savings corolla all day thats whats its good at hence the price point. The acceleration in that corolla acts like a diesel vehicle so it's not the fastest but can go a long way for gas mileage.

I currently have a 2014 ford focus but the transmission is starting to go, the car picked up speed very well, but ima have to swap it with the exact car and after seeing your reviews on it, it somewhat feels like a downgrade and an upgrade
