I have been meaning to revisit this cover for so long now, but I kept putting it off. It's... actually a really hard song to sing, especially in the original key! But I finally had the idea to pitch it so I could sing it an octave lower. I'm no professional singer, but I think you'd say I'm an alto? Anyway, this key was a lot easier for me to sing it with the emotion it needs, without straining my voice! The lyrics are also updated from the last time you would have heard them. This is also a really special cover because it was the first song I ever covered on this channel back in December 2013. I was sixteen back then and really new to singing. I even pitched up my voice so it wouldn't be recognisable, since I was so embarrassed about it! I'm glad I kept up it, because (in my opinion, at least) I've come miles in my improvement over the last eight years. I even have the confidence to sing in public, which you would have NEVER caught me doing back then. So to all of the viewers who have left the most lovely, constructive, supportive comments... I really can't thank you enough. I hope you'll stick around to see what the next few years may bring. Hopefully no more covid... yeah, that would be nice.

Huh how interesting I think this might be the first time I've ever heard this song sang like this specifically (never got to see your 2013 version of it unfortunately) it was a very different take then I've heard probably ever and its really quite fantastic in general can't wait to see more fantastic songs/covers!

I honestly can't stop listening to this, so I figured I have to comment. This is probably one of the truest and most beautiful translations I've heard of this song. A lot of people don't realize just how different it is from Simple And Clean, and I think you captured the spirit of that beautifully.

I've been looking for this my entire life, I guess I've just been searching incorrectly. I originally found your 2013 version, which was a very charming and literal translation of the original Japanese. This feels like more of an interpretation, or localization, which is great but does make me pine for the first cover you did. Of course, I can't ignore the massive strides you made as a musician during the past 8 years or so! Your voice has gotten so much better! Any chance you have a high-quality MP3 or FLAC I could download?

Wow! I'm at a lost for words as to how well this cover is! Truly amazing all around! Almost brought tears to my eyes listening to this haha this is such a beautiful rendition and the lyrics are so touching! Amazing work as always 👏 and hopefully one day things will go back to the way they were! Darkness may have prevailed and light expired for the time being, but just like a young master once said, there's more to light than meets the eye 😁🤗❤

OMG! I was listening previous 2 versions of this song recently and thought you should do a redo again. And damn here it is! Love it! You might not remember me but like 6-7 years ago I was making a fan game of Kingdom Hearts and I wanted to use your song in my fan game. ^-^ Sadly I dropped the project. If you think about it he couldn't have Kairi so Namine was the next best thing in terms of shipping. Although...I don't know how that works since it was Repliku that had feelings for her. In a sense before he died, he basically asked him to take care of her, even if it meant falling in love in his stead. Orrrrr something like that when there was no implication of that at all and Riku is just a bodyguard for her regardless. And Roxas has Xion. So it's all good I guess.

I've been lurking since 2013-2015(unsure of the year but I think I was 14 so probably late 2014 - early 2015?), and finally decided to comment. I love your Hikari covers, and I always wanted to be a singer even before I knew it. I don't know when I will, and it won't be this account, but would it be okay if I debut singing Hikari with your lyrics or using your lyrics as a base. I'm thinking of becoming a vtuber idol who streams concerts and plays games. Eventually I want to be able to dance with my model too. I'll also post song covers that aren't from livestreams.

I really struggle with how high Hikari is too! If you have a program like Audacity, you can change the pitch of the instrumental to make it easier to sing 😊

Before Super Smash Bros Ultimate came out, I was playing Super Mario Smash Bros Wii U. In classic 9, there is this dark fortress. 2 characters are considered light attribute. Pitt and Palutena. When I was hitting the last core in the fortress, I decided to take Utada's Hikari's advice which is shoot the light into the darkness. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/h8ejbMuqlpaUf4E.html. Since Pitt has an arrow that is considered a light attribute, I decided to finish it off by shooting the arrow enchanted by light. After all, fortress in Wii U is a dark fortress and since Pitt can shoot, I decided to shoot the light into the darkness. By being Pitt, I can reference what Utada Hikari said in her lyrics.

OK I’m not gonna lie this is definitely better than the original written kingdom hearts version I’m sorry but you do away better job they should’ve been the opening for the whole series instead of what was originally written :-)❤️🦋
