When we saw that the 2021 VW Arteon comes with an optional 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, we were excited to listen to some great music! Unfortunately, not all Harman Kardon systems are created equal. You can get a good sound out of this radio, but some tweaking is necessary.

Thank you so much for touching such an important thing as a car sound , I was about to test new artein and especially harman Larson sound which replaced previously installed dynaudio, have to mention that I didn’t like how Dynaydio sounded, if you can test and tell your opinion about Audi’s bang and oluffson I’d very appreciate it, thanks

Hi All, finally I have my passat B8 with H&K soundsystem. I believe it is quite similar or the same to arteon's system. After many negative and some positive review I had concerns ab out it. The system is not fantastic and of course and there are better systems on the market, but quite OK - GOOD. You need to "play" with the equalizer setting to find your best preference. Not using it at factory default. The system is not for "bass heads" but still gives enough bass at each type of music to make it enjoyable. There is no distortion even on higher volume and nothing rattles inside the cabin (at the moment). All in all I am satisfied with the system in passat B8 so I am on the positive side of the reviewers.

Thanks for review! Have ordered new VW Tiguan with optional Harman Kardon sound system. Looks like I should not expect much from it! Harman Kardon claims 700w in Arteon vs 480w in Tiguan. Hope you will make review for new Tiguan sound system as well )

U have just 8 very average speakers there and pot in the trunk. Biggest problem are low tones. Sound from this Tiguan set (I've just tested) is #%$##!

Actually you can change dsp to jbl for sound with mic calibrate according to hatman audio curve.

Hi!if you still have your tiguan I would be interested in your long term opinion about HK system. I ordered a passat with the system even if I was not impressed during the demo at the dealer. Many negativ and positive opinions as well around the internet. Thanks.

@@gaborjakab8971 Hello, what I can say, it is the worst system I had. It's very disappointing when HK system sounds worse than a stock one. There is no smooth balance. Bass is deaf, mid range not clear. Maybe treble is on the better side. Overall - 5/10. Hope your system sounds better in Passat )

Hi! do we have anybody who has a long term experience on Arteon's or Passat b8's H&K system? there are so many different tests / opinions including positives and negatives about the system. I have also read that after a while the speakers break in and the system has a better sound. On higher volumes also sounds much better. Thanks

I have same system in my new Passat and I have opposite experience. Too much bass and I'm missing midrange and treble definition. And the "best" thing is, that all sliders for treble, mid, bass, sub adjusting do not work. I can moove them, but sound makes nothing... So I need to visit service immediately in first week of ownership.

...And after re-flashing BSI module everything works good, but... The bass is still too strong and mids and highs are still too weak. Adjusting help a little, but just a little. Whole system is too much bass heavy.

I would love to know that too. I have Dynaudio in Golf and it sounds great. But waiting for V90 with H/K and I am bit worried about H/K performance.

@@21Pavel21 I have vw t-cross with beats sound system and I can tell you that v90 h/k is waaay better. I personally like the h/k in v60 and v90 but not that many agree with, from what I’ve read in forums.

@@21Pavel21 I can almost guarantee you that the Dynaudio will be superior. I have both Dynaudio and Harmon/Kardon (JBL) speakers. The dynaudio sound better

I find that reducing the subwoofer slider completely improves the bass levels. Overall, the sound system in the 21 Arteon is very underwhelming. My old 19 Arteon was way better.

If you’re not fine tuning your stereo system you’re not listening to it right. Not everyone’s ears are the same and there’s plenty of adjustments that can be done to make it sound good. The videos that you’ve posted about this car in particular just seem very biased.

Well while I would agree, "fine tuning" is relating to what you said, not everyone's ears are the same. Some want more bass, less bass, more treble, less treble. Most audio engineers leave the cars in the condition they find their audio system should be. Majority of the time, they leave it more or less "flat" because it's the best of both worlds, if you want more bass you have that option. If they gave you a system with max bass, and you feel like you need more bass, guess what you can't. Idk if I would say he's biased because I can hear the differences, but that is also cause I am an audiophile type person, while I love bass I just love hearing the different parts. Using my Sennheiser, it shows the difference with my Logitech g pro x. Which is the quality, and I won't say he's correct, but I'm not saying he's biased. I think he kinda hits the spot in describing the system.

Hahaha, wrong sound calibrate ,you can use harman dsp as go to service audio expert, your part may have if not go to harman audio city .

Dynaudio was way better. This Harman Kardon (just Samsung is some of you do not know) offers very, very average sound. All tones are mixed and not clear. Real tragedy are low tones. Low tones cannot be generated in a pot placed in the trunk. It just won't work. Even the low tones must come from a certain direction (stereo). The result is a cauldron rumble. If someone likes music, VW is not for him.

True dat, now i have a golf 7 alltrack with Dynaudio sound system 9 speakers. The thing is Golf have 4x 16cm bass drivers. Passat harman kardon have i think 13.5cm drivers… you cant best phisics…

Wow Volkswagen actually putting a decent system in cars again? I used to work for a dealer when they used the beats systems & man did i hate listening to them even at low volune!! Legit was the worst system ive ever heard in my life 😂😂

The beats system was only in the Jetta. The other models used Fender or Dynaudio. (Dynaudio being the king)

@@zackkirk6514 The new Taos will have it, (unfortunately), but every other model has Fender, excluding the Arteon, which has either Dynaudio or Harmon/Kardon. At least in North America

this audio system is a scam. only his name is Harman Kardon. the speakers are chinese sonavox. JBL in my 2004 Peugeot 407 sounds better.

You gotta look for an Arteon year 2020 or older, where you'll find the Dynaudio system in the upper trim level cars. (They switched to Harmon Kardon from model year 2021, which is also when they did the facelift.)
