Yes what is crazy is the weight on both cars the mdx isn’t far away from the weight the tlx type s weighs over 4000 lb so the mdx coming in at 4700 with what it has inside he still hauls ass

Ben, I got a 2022 MDX Advance (non Type S), in August 2021. Type S was a "pipeline" dream at the time. I am extremely happy with my MDX except for the MPGs. Granted I didn't buy (actually Leased) a 3 Row SUV for MPGs [getting only 13-15 in Suburban /City driving and 23 on the highway @ 70-75 MPH], the Type S is at least 15% Less than that. I would have really loved if Acura had done the following to make the non Type S really shine (at $62K ): included the suspension adjustments / auto Dampers; the Brembo Brakes which yields a harder pedal than mine; and IMO they could have Tweaked the 3.5 Engine for a bit more HP /Torque. Another alternative which God Knows why, they elimninated the MDX Hybrid - Iwould have paid the $1500-1800 premium for the Hybrid. Im 70, and don't really need a 3 Row ( I often wonder the sta on How many people actually use that 3rd Row on a regular basis - it's worthless for anyone other than small kids), and after owning many cars in my lifetime, realize all Novleties will wear Off. So far though, I have not experienced that with my MDX !! It's still Winking at me everyday. Having the extra HP / Torque is Exciting, but getting much reduced MPG especially NOW, with $5 a gallon Premium gas, would surely affect that decision.

@mrgold3591
@mrgold3591 2 жыл бұрын
@@AK-rx6hv The RDX is cheaper for a reason. Less room in 2nd row seats that don't recline, more road noise, 2.0T can get worse MPGs than the 3.5L, no room for a full size spare, and 1500lbs tow limit to name a few.

I love ACURA MDX, being a owner of 2020 MDX SH-AWD Tech BUT not going to purchase type S. i would rather go with Q7 V6 turbo, if I buy next 3 row SUV. Type-S just a hype but you get better value for Q7, where there turbo V-6 has been in the market for a while. Beside, Audi came up with mild hybrid, Acura is still behind; moreover, what’s up with no touch screen. by the way, I love your video, you are doing a great job Ben. Keep up the good work. Lastly, with current DNA, people would prefer performance car with improved gas mileage. ACURA should have utilized their RL version of hybrid to it.

Hello Ben, you did not mention the fact that there's no 'heated' steering and 360 Camera in the Type S but there is in the Ultra. There might not even be a massaging seat in the Type S. Acura made a very bad distinction between the Type-S and the Ultra IMHO.

The spiderweb speaker covers would look awesome in the black widow packages. In fact, the whole thing looks like it’s a black widow package. I wish I would have bought this for my wife over the pilot Edit: No touch screen? I don’t care how responsive the pad is, you have to have a touch screen. Imagine the passenger trying to change the station and reaching over to use the pad. Edit 2: I do the same exact thing when I’m in the pilot trying to shift. I’ll never get used to the button shifter, and I’ll never trust that it’s in park.

They need to get rid of the cheap plastic that should have never been on a $72,000 performance suv to begin with. It should be high quality carbon fiber trim or high quality aluminum trim instead. And as for the engine they need a twin turbo hybrid V6 with 500 horsepower with 560 pound ft of torque. That gets 24 mpg city and 32 mpg highway. And upgrade the radio move it closer add a touch screen. Then make it 14 inches, and add a 100,000 miles 10 year warranty and I would be sold.

Until you have to pay for maintenance/repairs w/ the Audi….wife is on her 2nd MDX right now (2019) & we cross shopped it again against the Q7, which we both liked, but for what you get $ for $ the MDX is still ahead & then there’s the reliability factor & mpg….I think for driving enthusiasts like myself who’s wife wants an SUV & we both DONT want issues or spending time @ dealer & want peace of mind we could keep the vehicle 150k miles if we felt like it- this Type-S is a great option for people like us

For this money I would go for a BMW X5, Jeep Grand Cherokee L with the V8 or V6, GV80 with the twin turbo or something in the $70k range. Especially knowing Acura is gonna hype themselves up with a 2022 vehicle with still no Touch UI. Nobody wants to use a trackpad anymore. Even Infiniti understands the times. It’s like Acura doesn’t care what the public thinks, plus they will mark this vehicle up like crazy. You’re talking like $80k or more. Kick rocks for that

I’ve been driving my new MDX type S and realize how it’s not practical. No spare tire, jack or tire iron. If you have a blow out or hit a pot hole and damage a wheel or tire your stranded. I guess a road-trip is ruled out with this car. I’ve been driving in the city and I get 8.4 MPG. The passenger cannot control the infotainment system because this system is not passenger friendly. Every other car in this segment has an easy infotainment system to use with a touchscreen which the MDX doesn’t have. Overall the car looks nice but is not practical. If you buy the car be prepared to have buyers remorse.

Get run flats. Makes the lack of spare tire obsolete.
@johnrod2010
@johnrod2010 2 жыл бұрын
@@AK-rx6hv vehicle has self seal tires. Self seal or run flats don’t work with a blow out or damaged wheel. Don’t forget this vehicle has 21” wheels so one of these scenarios is a strong possibility.
@metamorphic75
@metamorphic75 2 жыл бұрын
My main problem is the mileage - it is just horrible. Even if gas prices were not as high, this car is hardly practical. Regarding the infotainment screen, my issue with that is that in 2020+ most cars have touchscreens. Move the screen a few inches closer to the driver and give it a touchscreen. For the price of the car, this should not be a big deal - heck, they are adding a touchscreen to the 2023 Acura Integra, but the flagship MDX Type S Advance only comes with a touchpad?
@johnrod2010
@johnrod2010 2 жыл бұрын
@@metamorphic75 my wife just purchased a 2022 highland platinum. Beautiful car with a touchscreen and drives great. But when you compare that car to the mdx type s their is no comparison. We are talking a world of speed and luxury. The mpg on the mdx is why I’m gonna trade it in. I hope this car holds its value.
