Missed this one last week - but just saw it & in defense of what some might call “dated” or even “bland” styling I think BMW knows its market & instead of flash, gives the owner exceptional power, understated elegance & the undisputed message that he or she has arrived!! @@MauriceBln1 Had a friend visit the benz dealership looking for a GLS, and the guy took us to see a S-Class. The BMW may be "classically elegant" but the Mercedes is straight up cooler.

@@HoldthisL257 Cool doesn’t age well. The Mercedes relies on too much of today’s tech and will look like a fossil in a decade when it’s all outdated.

@@JustinLHopkins the BMW will look older in a decade but infinitely more classic. I actually prefer this interior to MB's interior. MB just lost it's charm in all aspects of the car from exterior to interior. Though as time goes on, I guess we will associate the S class with it's current design language so eventually it will become our definition of the optime of luxury but as of right now? A class rear Simple Front. The bimmer looks extremely classy from the rear. I think that is it's main strength. And obviously as a lot of presense from the front with it's big grill.

It’s nice but it desperately needs a real refresh/redesign for the interior. The dash and screen on my 2021 3 series is nicer in my opinion. As far as the most luxurious in the segment, that still goes to the S Class.

Can't agree more! This interior design they exploit far too long. The exterior has been with us quite a while too. I haven't own one but I'm a little bored with it. In terms of Mercedes, yes, it always been and, probably, will be the leader. It just always brings the innovations into the class.

Ya but which has more presence? I still think the new S Class lacks presence on the road. I've seen one in person and honestly the front is too mellow and the back reminds me of an A class. However whenever I've seen a 7 series, the thing always catches my eye with it's big grill and massive size even though they are pretty similar in size. The 7 series just feels bigger. I still prefer BMW interior design to whatever Mercedes did to their interiors. Attaching screens everywhere and shit doesn't make it any more luxurious.

The exterior still looks good(the grille has even grown on me), especially since MB lost the distinctive stately look of the S-Class. But the interior is severely dated against that Benz or even something like Genesis G90. BMW needs an entirely new interior direction after having served this basic design for decades. I really hope they go radically different in their upcoming electrification revolution.

Nice review. Love my 2012 750Li, think I'll wait to see what they do with the next gen though, lol. Also, just a tip, you can press and hold the driver-shade button and all the shades will deploy/retract. ;)

Check out my KZfaq, I have a 2010 & I updated my screen. Has KZfaq, Google Maps you name it Full Android & iDrive, looks better than this and most other new BMWs lol. 12.3 inches

Im on my 3rd BMW. NEVER had a problem. I know people with MB and cars are in the shop ir having issues. The 2022 7series is redesigned with a new interior.

I recently got to drive this car, did I like it? no, but I can see why people would like it. Imo this car is a car you get driven in not a car you drive hence an executive car.

Imagine buying a $103K flagship car and not having standard cooled seats? Non-standard leather dash?(and the graining of the plastic dash is a bit low-rent)? Yes, the S580 is more expensive, but it does come with a far more premium interior and more standard features.

That’s why Mercedes slogan is “the best or nothing”. The base model S580 you don’t even need to add options. The standard features list is so long!

You overlooked the hot and cold control under the front vent , which I think is a redundant feature because when you adjust the vent duration , it will move the direction of hot and cold panel so easily that cause a sudden hot or cold situation.

sport-luxury, try the Mercedes AMG GT 63. I just traded in my 2020 911 Porsche Carrera 4S for my AMG. With the RENNtech is has 670 HP and 690 Torque.

I’m thinking about getting a 2012 750LI. Checked it out yesterday. And the interior in that one is very similar to this one for it to be a 10year old car. Maybe all 7 series models have similar interiors.

I love mine. Only had 12k miles when I bought it. I'm afraid to say what I paid because it genuinely was a STEAL from a elder couple 😂😂😂 I've done all of the maintenance using a warranty I purchased. Changed out all hoses prone to leaks. And I'm nearing 110k miles.

@@CarConfections basically I met a guy that does custom work on cars. And he had same rims on a car he did. He said I can call.bmw and order them. So I guess just call the parts department and give them the rim name or model number and anyone can order them

The interior is just a snooze fest. Their designs evolve too slowly, if you didn’t know this was new, you could say this was a 7 series from any of the last almost 10 years, these things are certainly not breaking any sales numbers. Boring and out dated looking. This is a grandpa car. Benz is running circles around them, so is genesis.

This, the new S class are now marketed to the Chinese market place. This is why we in the states do not get the standard wheel based models of their top tier models. Yeah...They decide to flip off the U.S. buyers with these limo lookers. Craptacular in my book.lack on black...Wow! That's really exciting BMW.

@@LilRick96 In the states as apposed to every other country on this planet, they get a standard wheelbase S or 7 series/class, EXCEPT the states and china of course. Why? Ask the marketing/regulators of those auto makers. In simpler terms, this is all about placating the Chinese market. Not that the U.S. market even matters anymore.
