The Ford Fiesta ST is a pocket rocket, but would you choose it over a Hyundai i20 N? Comment below!

I have the 2014 US ST, it’s 8+ years old with 98,000 miles on it, it has a Cobb stage two tune up, beefy motor mount, 3” exhaust, short shift kit, sticky Mitchlen pilot sport tires, and many Visual mods. I’ve had 14 cars & 9 Motorcycles in my 74 years and this is the most fun car I’ve ever had, the way it handles on a mountain road is just Magic. I’m on my 6th set of tires, that’s how hard I drive it, my friends can’t believe the clutch is still stock. That hard knocking sound every time he accelerated, was the Engine hitting the firewall, all ST’s need a after market motor mount. At 80 miles a hour the gets a solid 31.5 mpg, it’s a keeper. Read the Manual! Use Flat Floor shifting. The fiesta use a function to hold the turbo pressure.

The wheel hop is much better with an upgraded lower engine mount. Although I had terrible traction problems with the Michelins in cold weather. The winter tires they grip like hell luckily

Old VHT on a slick surface like that is more slippery than clean, coarse tarmac. The LC on this model only limits revs on clutch depression, as soon as the clutch is off the floor you are on your own again in terms of throttle value.

Issue with the I20 will be the Hyundai badge on the front and back of it. Had one for a weekend and it’s good to drive but not great. The badge will put most people off and second hand values with be awful.

That's a 2021 fiesta not a 2022... the 2022 festa st is mk 8.5 different front. The one you have is a mk 8

Next time check the tire air pressure. To much air in street tires,on track bite,would cause bad/violent wheel hop..I would of started around 32psi ,then deceased it after trying it out

Put my stage 2 2020 fiesta st in there, I've added in a engine mount to aid the axle tramp wheel hop issues and a big brakw kit for the brake issues, I'd like to know how it stacks up against a stock one or on track by a pro driver 😁

have mine now for about 5 months, went stage 1. 250 ish HP and 360 ish NM. launching is terrible, feels bad and grip is hard to come by, replacing the stock rear engine mount has dramatically decreased weelhop though, strong recommendation for all ST's. no more wheelhop, just pure burnouts when dumping the clutch or punching it hard when tires are cold or the road is damp. it however is a weapon when you're not going from stationary. have the PP and the quaiffe in front is amazing, u can chuck it in any corner and just go. the size, weight and now increased power thanks to stage 1 will give rather expensive cars a very very good run for their money, have already beaten a macan S 2021 model from 40 to 200km/h. (yes, that is manual versus a PDK) on a side note: the pops and bangs is just amazing. absolutely in love with it, have it in performance blue. and i have to agree that it is not that flashy or sports car like than some other brands but the aftermarket is huge, so u can make what u want. and i do like the "hidden" style it has now, just get next to a fast car and let him think "it's just a fiesta". god i love it.

Launch it in normal or sport with launch control if you have no traction 🤦🏽‍♂️

0-100kph times are all good, but how about a proper test of in gear acceleration from say, 60-100kph and between two different vehicle makes..? These would best simulate more realistic conditions when again, needing to overtake etc..Otherwise, great review as always..

Sure, the I20 N might be faster but I don’t really know which would be more playful on track against the clock. The i20N makes more sense but the Fiesta ST would be great

launch is still off. from the sound, the engine knocking/rocking is so evident

People complaining of Axle tramp , learn how to modulate the throttle,, its not an on off switch.

well done ! You have just succeeded in putting me off ordering a new one completely! I couldn't tolerate that wheel hop tramping like that when pulling away fast, even my old Fiat Strada Abarth 130TC behaved better than that 37 years ago !!

Wheel hop off the line is definitely a problem in Festy ST but rolling traction out of a corner is really good
