"A little bit of trouble" installing the arms is a huge understatement. It took me about 40 tries and 30 minutes as well as 9 popped press nuts to screw down the last wedge for the arms. I was in constant fear of destroying the frame and even stripped the beginning of the press nut thread. The only thing that finally made it work was to not install it like shown in the video, but to install the wedge with ONE arm (don't tighten the screw yet) and then slide in the last arm, then tighten the screw. This was waaaay easier and without the danger of destroying anything.

It’s pretty fair to get into. You need to research on what type of flying you want to do. Long range , freestyle , racing, cinematic, cruise. Some of these styles are definitely cross compatible but can be better with different setups. Just watch people build and talk about parts. There’s not too many involved, and some work better with other , so it’s not just buy the most expensive. Anyone good with electronics would excel in building these. The hard part is having to program and tune the drone before you can actually fly :/

I have been trying to get into FPV for the longest time but I just did not know where to start. I was going to go with a pre built but I really did not feel like that was the right thing. When this kit came out I knew this was the perfect way to get into FPV. I would like to thank you so so so much for making this kit!

Getting the right pre-built is absolutely not a bad thing! My first entrance was building one of those chinese kits from ebay, zmr250 or whatever it was back then. I wish I had just gotten a nice prebuilt and saved myself some trouble in the beginning. Check out the DarwinFPV Baby Ape Pro, or pretty much any EMAX BNF, I havent had a bad Emax product, ever! The nanohawk x is a little hot rod, the tinyhawk II is indestructible!

@@Nullscr1pt Isn't that a little too advanced? How does the cinelog handle crashing especially for beginners? How much flightime would you get with the recommended battery of 1300 mAh I heard abt 6 minutes or less doesn't the avata have better flightime? Does the o3 dji air unit handle the transmission of the video signal I think it is included in the drone? How much would the whole build cost drone controller goggles? sub1000? Wouldn't it be cheaper to build your own? Should you choose the goggles 2 or V2 or Integra?

When soldering XT60 or anyother connector made of plastic, it is a good pratice to have the male and female ends connected together, so that if the plastic is heated up too much it doesn't warp.

You almost had me convinced to start ordering parts to build a freestyle FPV quad because I tried very hard not to crash. My TANQ2 5” that have only had for about a week and a half and I really wanted a tank S but it’s out of stock so I considered building one, but I really don’t know if my big fat uncoordinated fingers can do the soldering but I am going to watch your soldering tutorial and try to find something to practice on because I know that I’m going to start breaking it when I start flying low. At the moment, I am just practicing tricks probably 20 to 100 feet off the ground and over mostly grass. Once I get better with my throttle control and pitch so that I can maintain altitude and I start rolling and flipping and yawing at lower altitude I know I will start smashing stuff. Your videos are amazing thank you so much. Keep up the good work!

I remember spending days doing repairs, literally, after every flight because I never landed, always crashed. I've gone on to build my own quads an wouldn't have it any other way. I actually land much more often than crash, now. Flying has become less stressful, more enjoyable. Thank you, Mr Bardwell, for all you contribute. I, for one, wouldn't enjoy the hobby if it hadn't been for the information and expertise you continue to share. Couldn't help but watch the build, makes me itch to build another.

I never built the JB kit...being on a super budget 1 year ago when i first got into FPV, I challenged myself to put together a kit that would come in under the price of the kit, and if that didnt work out, I'd make a beeline for the kit. Well, I came in at around $30 under, and pulled the trigger on my parts selection (The JB kit was likely better quality, but nonetheless, i was still challenging myself and wanted to put those few dollars elsewhere). While i didn't have the kit, I did have these videos (the first tutorial). . . and followed along as best as I could to recreate what was done. This footage is so well thought out and put together ,the education we get is everything we need to get started. I still come back to these now and again to maybe see if i can do something better in my build, neaten something up, pick up a tip or 2, and always learn. 10 builds in 1 year, with about 7 full RE-Builds, there is always something to learn 'today'... Thanks, JB.

18:25 the very best case scenario is that the short between wires draws enough current and the quad just shuts down or esc temperature protection kicks in also if there are like 1-3 strands shorting the battery probably has enough power to burn the strands (also very best case scenario)

Hooray! Now that it is fathers day, I finally got to put it together! Went together with basically no issues. I know you include the wire for the VTX connection, you might consider including the same for the receiver. I had some silicone wire around so no biggie. I have to ask. Is there a reason why you fish the capacitor all through to the front rather than just soldering it directly to the ESC and go out the back over the VTX? Anyhoo.. I had about 30 minutes before dark, and it took it out into the back yard. Of course I had the props on backwards in terms of rotation. There must be a nice way to remember which is which. It took off, and hovered-ish beautifully. Moved it all over my back yard and landed it.. no worries... From a first time drone pilot I seriously want to thank you on the excellent kit, and build videos. I definitely learned something today!

I've built two of these frames and some things I would do is: (1) label the hardware. You can pretty much tell which screws to use where but having the packs labeled would be cool. (2) After crashing one and totally breaking one arm and putting a hairline crack in another, I replaced them with the design that has the Y configuration at the end. I think they should be the default arms. Maybe toss in some long M2 screw with locking nylon insert nuts if the builder is going to mount a Vista unit? I also noticed on one frame the press nut turns in the frame. Other than that, it's a solid frame. I bought a bunch of extra arms because I'm sure I'll beat it to death.

Tip with zipties. If you dont want it to Wrap completely around and look like crap, You can do that pull through method, and then clip the eyelets off 4 extra zipties, and put them down onto the zipties you pulled through, almost like nuts on bolts. If you follow my description..

@@proxemiafpv5746 Then back in stock! It's expensive for what you get. Do your favorites spots to fly have room for a 5" ? None of my favs do. Plus, if I were to fly there, KAREN's would complain like mad! I suggest picking your favorite spots to fly and buying a quad to fit those favorite spots! My favorite size is 3.5". I think they're more fun to fly than 5", and soooooo much quieter .. no one ever complains or gives me as little as a dirty look. Plus, my favorite 3.5" will do over 20 minute flights for long range with a bigger lipo or 18650 pack. Best of ALL worlds! 😎🤘

What about Remote ID? I bet this drone will turn into a pumpkin on September 16, 2023. You probably can make another set just a little bit under 250g to avoid requirements for drone registration and Remote ID.

I've got the best way to mount a Vista. get a m2 helicoil set from Amazon take the tap and run it threw all 4 mounting holes then install 4 helicoils in the Vista now your Vista is threaded and you just run 4 short screws up into the Vista and your done.

@@NickShl it's being challenged in court. So who knows what will happen? I don't know many people who are worried. Regardless, the remote ID issue would likely be handled by whatever video or control link you use, so this quad can be upgraded to handle it. Whatever it may be.

@@trekkin_fpv5272 I guess judge should also rule all mobile operators to disconnect cell phones for all people located near their homes to stop tracking them. Sounds ridiculous? But it based on exact arguing from this case - "people should be able to stay at home without tracking". That is why I doubt this case have any chance to repeal FAA ruling. And for upgrading - it need GPS + some module for Remote ID. I wasn't able to find any detail what technology, protocol and frequencies it uses.

I love this frame, I appreciate the improvements over the split top plate of the regular QAV-S and the slight slam design and micro camera mount. I am, however, a pretty bummed that the frame and parts have been out of stock for a good while, but now the only thing in stock are these kits or RTF builds almost as if they have been hoarding them to make the kits and make the sale, kinda bogus. I need a replacement frame and I cannot get one. it's been so long, I am considering just switching out of spite.

Hey Josh, I am just discovering this hobby and you are keeping me very interested. Just wanted to take a minute to extend a sincere thank you. Also, I noticed that you use "wire harness tape". I am not sure what that is, but it looks a heck of a lot like Hockey Tape! I'm sure somebody (maybe even you in a video I have yet to watch) has pointed this out already, but maybe if its cheaper or easier to find in their area (Canada), you could let the viewers know! Keep up the great work! I look forward to one day actually following along with your build series! Calvin

the kit you put together is obviously a solid one, its always out of stock. i need a frame that will house the O3 unit, too bad no one shows that in their spec

It's out of stock because we can't make it as fast as people buy it. However I just looked and it's literally in stock right now. GetFPV are working on modifying the frame for the O3 and will announce when it's supported.
