2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer | Nutty Price, Many Rewards

We review the 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer with a starting price of $88,000. This full-size truck SUV has the towing power, space, and luxury only an American product could bring. However, the high price and off-road capability mean trade-offs. Others to consider are the Cadillac Escalade or Lincoln Navigator.

As a European I love watching reviews of these behemoths. They've the feeling of messages from another world; evoking a weird mix of jaw dropping disbelief and occasional flashes of daft daydreams of piloting one through a European city.

I agree. I live in Sweden and it is probably the only European country where you might find one of these ridiculous monstrosities on the road due to the scarcity of population relative to it being a very large country.

I really love you guys. A big part of the reason this is my favorite automotive source is how seriously you cover technical aspects, but watching Jack try to talk seriously about the car while Mark tried to manhandle this soccer mom tank was maybe my favorite moment on the channel even on a vehicle I don't give a shit about. I still can't believe how well Jack complements the channel. Hope you guys never leave. As cars become boring, souless transports, we need some genuine people to suffer their unpleasantries.

Ha, I live in southern Cali and that's my favorite hobby when I'm a passenger, counting all the full size vehicles that are empty. I myself am guilty, I have a midsize suv (28k msrp) for just me and my wife. I've had 20 knee injuries and 3 knee surgeries, and because I was injured so often I've gained a lot of weight since I was just laying around. so an SUV makes traveling/commuting much much easier on me. I dont even own anything I can tow and I cant afford to take it off-road cuz I cant risk breaking anything outside of normal wear n tear. We do go camping from time to time, we sleep in the back of the vehicle with the seats folded down

I love the rear because it honours the classic American SUV design with that chrome strip surrounding the window and frame. It feels like a tribute to the 70-80s big box SUVs. This car does not try to use curves to look cooler, it's a box and it ain't ashamed of it, which makes it all the better for the practical benefits and presence IMO.

Nice review and I agree with your findings with the exception of interior. The Series III GW is stunning in every way and in my opinion one ups the Escalade. The second and third rows are almost as posh in the GW while the Escalade feels more like a Tahoe back there. Also the McIntosh stereo is upgraded on Series III, sounded amazing. Now if I could only find a Series III actually available for sale!

Am I the only one who feels like this vehicle exists just to cash in on the SUV craze? And why has Jeep left out the separate opening rear glass and hidden rear wiper blade like so many other SUVs on the market? I’m also not really digging the exterior styling of this vehicle compared to other truck based SUVs on the road, especially the rear end design.

This vehicle exists because Stellantis' like most car makers knows they can build junk, name it nostalgically and charge unreasonable prices. And sad suburbanites will pay for it.

Yep. Jeep is a company so of course they’ll follow the consumer market and consumers want big SUV’s. Sad but true, and they just built this to appease those people. It’s not to my liking, and I would never want something as big as this, but I get why some do. Not too bad, but that price is shocking for some crappy Jeep car that’ll fall apart after five years

I swear if either Ford or GM would just put their full size truck diesel in their Full Size SUV and liberate family's from dismal fuel efficiency they would run away with the market. I guess the problem is having their full size SUVs on 1/2 ton truck platforms, so its a little more complicated.

I believe that it is vehicles such as this, along with high performance trucks like the TRX and Raptor, that will be the first to go away completely when viable electric alternatives become widely available. I say this because small vehicles with relatively small gas engines can somewhat compete with EV's when it comes to overall efficiency, and the tradeoffs are relatively reasonable; whereas getting 10 MPG at today's gas prices and doing so on a daily basis is not something that the industry will be able to sustain when comparable electric alternatives finally come to market in conjunction with a sufficient number of charging stations.

It’s ridiculous that Jack has gotten 10mpg in this thing. Stellantis should be embarrassed that they released the JGW without a hybrid powertrain right out of the gates. It’s an example of American wastefulness. My wife and I were both hoping for a version that was more in keeping with the 70’s-80’s Grand Wagoneer, including the woodgrain vinyl wrap. In it’s current form, it’s going to be great for rich suburban moms and dads that will drop off their 2 kids at lacrosse practice, where off-roading will be touching the grass as they have to do a 5 point turn to get out of the parking lot.

@JMacGyver1
@JMacGyver1 2 жыл бұрын
@@ericbryant796 Times have changed significantly from the 70’s and 80’s, and from what I remember having lived through these decades growing up, friends parents who owned Wagoneers used them to drive up north to cabins that were almost always on dirt roads, or for deer hunting, skiing trips, etc. They weren’t selling them, nor the Suburban, or Broncos of the day, as lifestyle vehicles. Most people owned and drove sedans and wagons and they bought these 4 wheel drive SUV’s because they used them for their capabilities. Today, people buy these things as a sort of cross between a Cadillac and a minivan, to be seen in at their kid’s soccer games.
