My mom just bought a new ES 350 for about 50k out the door. She was s long time 2003 Avalon owner. Before my dad passed away he would tell my mom when it's time to get a new car to consider a Lexus. She also had +200k on her Avalon. Hope she likes her new car.

I just bout a 2022 ES 350 UL about 3 weeks ago. It is the smoothest ride I've ever had in any car. Amazingly quiet. A delight to drive. But I'm not a high tech guy and this seems like a very high tech vehicle. But I wouldn't trade it for anything. I like this car more that any car I've ever owned (I apologize to my 2013 Toyota Camry, which was a wonderful car). Thank you for your review.

Have you gotten used to the tech? I have the exact same car, and it took me months to sort it out. But I think I've discovered most of it by now; the touchscreen in place of that infernal pad is a great help to doing so.

Just bought a 2017 ES350, great car. Faster and more agile than I expected. Four adults can comfortably go on long trips. Also have two V6 Accords, but I enjoy the ES 350 more. They are similar, kind of, but they cater to different consumers.

Worth noting for readers that the 2017 was on a completely different platform than the 2019 and newer. No carryover mechanical fundamentals except the engine. Testers agree that the 2019 has a tauter feel and better handling, although a less comfortable rear seating position for taller passengers.

I have had my '21 ES250 AWD for 6 months and couldnt be happier with the thing! Unfortunately with the new TNGA platform, the V6 does not provide enough room for all the mechanicals for AWD - that's why its only the 2.5 4cyl - but mine doesn't disappoint ... I absolutely love it!

Extremely flawed marketing from Lexus who puts AWD on the small underpowered and rough 2.5 engine which no one buys and lets the great 3.5 V6 spin the front tires indefinitely

@@rjohns25 Exactly. There is always a compromise with Toyota products. But V6 AWD not fitting TNGA platform is a lie Toyota is telling to mask its lack of effort as the Hilander is using the same platform and V6 and AWD. Their mindset is that as long as ppl will buy their subpar products no matter what in name of "perceived reliability" they don't put any engineering effort into better products.

@@kizo172 BS, Ki Zo. It's not "perceived reliability." As Consumer Reports survey data continues to prove, it delivers ACTUAL reliability. @@kizo172 Ki Zo, I have two Toyota products. One in the left side of my garage, and another in the right. No, Toyota 4 cylinders are not "deliberately" designed to run rough. You got a salesman who's a liar, and I'm very sorry you had to put up with that. But the salesman is not even an employee of Toyota; dealerships are independent franchise businesses. So your anger is better directed at the dealership's service department, because yes, your engine probably needs to be fixed. It happens.

A Toyota mechanic says the front of this gen's ES simply does not have the room to fit both the V6 and AWD. So we would have to wait until the next generation for the v6 to get the AWD. Given we just got a refresh, it's not going to be any time soon.
@Karma-hy6ki
@Karma-hy6ki Жыл бұрын
That was a minor refresh, the next major refresh is in 2025. The last major one was for the 2019 year. So in 2025 they will have AWD but knowing them it will also have a Turbo V4 giving around 300hp, the NA v6 will be gone for good

Buy Bridgestone Blizzack snow tires on their own rims from the Tire Rack. Better than AWD. My ES350 wears them from November to the end of April, and it never goes in the ditch, and stops on ice. AWD cars ride worse, get less MPG, and if they don't have snow tires, they can't stop either, because the tires don't grip the road surface.

I enjoy daily driving my 2019 UL ES immensely. Has every option available, save for the pointlessness spoiler, but I’d kill to have power folding side mirrors. I can’t understand why Lexus chose to delay that valuable feature until the 2020 model 🤔. Would love to have had that trick to make garaging easier.

How does the suspension feel going over dips and bumps in the road? How loud is it on the highway?
@umat6991
@umat6991 10 ай бұрын
@@jeffs70chevelle My only recent frame of reference is having driven my wife’s 2020 Highlander Limited, my 2012 Camry hybrid and a 2019 ES 350 F sport model prior to buying my UL trim. I’d estimates it absorbs bumps and road imperfections about as well as the Highlander. however, the Highlander weighs more, and the tires have thicker side walls so I would expect it to be a little more “floaty“. Compared to my Camry, the ride is definitely smoother over the road. Quieter? Yes, but That’s hard to say as my Camry is a hybrid and it’s pretty quiet (sitting still, but not in motion) all by itself. The ES F sport I test drove, in my opinion, was way too stiffly sprung, and not worthy of a Lexus badge. Road noise was also worse than my trim. However, the UL trim comes with “acoustic glass” though I don’t know how much difference it really makes versus standard Glass. All that to say that your experience will vary, depending upon what vehicle or vehicles you currently drive or have had extensive drive time with in the past. Best of luck to you. These are great cars in any trim in my opinion.
@jeffs70chevelle
@jeffs70chevelle 10 ай бұрын
@@umat6991 thanks for the detailed reply. I think road noise is my primary annoyance with some cars especially at highway speeds; would you say your ES is not much different than the Camry or Highlander? That's also good to hear is smoother than a Camry, but by how much? My Civic is like being on a jetski after rebounding from every little dip in the road. I'd also like to test an older G90 for that suspension smoothness, but those are harder to find.
@umat6991
@umat6991 10 ай бұрын
@@jeffs70chevelle Sorry for the late reply. Life's just too busy these days. Yes, I would rate the ES quieter than the others. At speed, there's no comparison to the Camry (much louder) and the sound in the ES isn't "cavernous" as it sounds in the Highlander. The ES doesn't absorb the road like 1960s Cadillacs, but that, IMO, is a good thing. It's smooth and comfortable, but you still have some feel of the road without it being intrusive or distracting. In the end, test drive all your options at varying speeds. Hope you find "the one" that makes you happiest. 🙂

People buy ES 350 for luxury, status, comfort and reliability. The moment you started focusing on how quickly the car goes from 0 to 60, I stopped watching the video, and give it a thumbs down. When you do car reviews, you may want to think about who the targeted audience for the car is. Those who will buy ES 350 will not be buying it for its 0 to 60 acceleration or how it handles in the corners. There are plenty of other choices if someone is looking for a “sporty” car.
@alphonsusho8962
@alphonsusho8962 2 жыл бұрын
That is the difference between Lexus and it's rivals. Lexus isn't about performance and "sport" handling. However, Lexus is caving into that by offering the F Sport stuff. Reason why Lexus is reliable is because they don't complicate their drive train thus it has less chance to break down. Plus 0-60 IRL, unless you drag racing or a car enthusiast, isn't that important for most people.

My minor issue was that it doesn’t have Ambient lighting for the F sport handling package, and I was hoping you would show the lighting. The ambient lighting on models that have it is a real anticlimax, so dim you can barely see it even in the dark. You can almost picture the argument in the conference room with somebody objecting, "But if it's bright, it'll distract the driver!" The FWD is fine in routine use, but this is not a corner carver even in F Sport trim. My gut is that you'd be happier with the Germans.

No, the car and engine are the same as the Toyota Avalon. It is NOT based on a Camry! Check the dimensions of the two and they are virtually identical. Note they say they tweaked the engine just a little to get it up to 302 hp so they can say it has more than the Avalon @ 301 hp which no doubt is tweaked to be greater than 300 hp quoted by some other cars!! But it's an Avalon for sure. Yes, 302 > 301 > 300 if you compare raw numbers.. But silly...

Totally under powered. Very disappointing. Should be at least 350 HP

This is ridiculous. The 302 horsepower completely overwhelms the front tires as it is, and this is completely inconsistent with the mission of the car. How old are you, anyway?

They are like an over priced Honda Accord. Very, very did I say very, slow. Not worth the price point. There is no power. This guy is over playing it. The actual ride is impressive. Extremely smooth.

You must mean the ES 250 AWD or the hybrid. The 302-hp V6 ES 350 sure as hell has power.

The front and back are uglier than the es300 or first wave of es350. Why would you buy a car that look so ugly? It looks like a big boo of a lady.

Just bought a 2017 ES350, great car. Faster and more agile than I expected. Four adults can comfortably go on long trips. Also have two V6 Accords, but I enjoy the ES 350 more. They are similar, kind of, but they cater to different consumers.

If you think its agility is good, you'd be blown away by the 2019 and newer, which are on an entirely new chassis that enables fundamentally better handling.
