I have the 2007 Outlander. I bought it brand new. It still drives like a dream. It has 275,000 miles on it. I've only had in the shop one time in all 14 years and that was by choice. We ordered a timing belt online and took it to the dealership to have them put it on. We knew it would be getting to be about time to replace it, so this was to prevent getting stranded somewhere. Other than that it's still the best car I've ever owned. I've been looking at this 2021 Outlander for a few weeks now. When I'm ready. I know it will the Outlander I'll buy. Again, the best and most trouble-free car I've ever owned.

Unbiased review, good job! But I route for Outlander. Have had Lancer, Pajero, RVR and Outlander which were all very good and reliable cars. In my honest opinion, Mitsubishi is underrated.

When testing the rear seats you should have them adjusted at the same angle. You had the Outlanders straight up in an awkward position and the Rav 4 reclined way back.

The steering wheel looks and feels much better than the Rav 4 and the looks inside and out are night and day the Rav looks more rugged but bland the Mitsubishi looks luxurious.I bought the outlander and love it hands down beats the Rav. Great review. My first Mitsubishi and I’m impressed plus much better warranty than the Rav.

There is no need to crib so much about the shift nob. I drive an outlander and i absolutely love the shift nob, its so easy and equally quick as any other automatic shifter. Comparing a hybrid rav4 to a cvt outlander with their pickups is again unfair. Outlander for its size is quick and i find no issues overtaking on highways or merging into them.

Mitsubishi has really up the game of SUV, if it was my money, i would go for Mitsubishi all day without even thinking.

Out lander looks better, feels better, and cheaper and you can literally add some accessories and reach the rav 4. Outlander is also got a better warranty

Look at the angle of the second-row seats from the Rav4 and the Outlander. The shot from the camera clearly shows that in the Rav4 the back support for the seat is leaned further back than putting them square in the outlander. Hence, the "more" headroom... Put the same angle of the back seat and then sit in it you will then see they are pretty much similar instead of putting the outlander seats at 90 degrees to give it a downside...

Just test drove the outlander(aspire) in Melbourne, it drives like a dream , gear swifter knob is the best. Stock audio sounds pretty good, from stand still to movement is pretty smooth, materials feels good. Handling is surprisingly awesome for this big, electric adjustments on seats are fast and to the point. Infotainment is slow, head up display is good. Third row is for kids until 6 years above doesn’t fit. Back row seat doesn’t cover until the knee when seated, not so comfy. I own Audi 2021 q3, I think this one has better pickup at traffic lights.

In Taiwan,our RAV4 is facing the problem of water leakage.It makes many people choice other brands.But the RAV4 is still a popular SUV. (I have a poor English,please don't care about it XD)

After shopping around the SUV market, outlander felt way superior to both rav4 and rouge. Actually, in my household there are 3 cars, rouge, rav4, and outlander. The outlander is the sensation and stands up higher compared to the the other two. Great review. PS. love the shifters

Hands down the Mitsubishi is so much nicer than the RAV4. The interior and all of the safety and luxury features is so much better. Mitsubishi also has a much better warranty, like Hyundai and KIA, 5 year 60,000 mile and with Hybrid and PHEV, 10 year 100,000 mile battery warranty. I'm looking to get a Santa Fe Hybrid limited but seriously considering the 2022 Mitsubishi PHEV. Also, Mitsubishi is less expensive across the board.

I’ve been interested in the outlanders for a few years now. Ever since I went to the woods with my family and we rented out a 2016 outlander for the road trip. It felt nice. The drive was smooth and no issues at all, keep in mind it was a road trip so there were bumps on the road, barely felt em. So I’m interested in getting one.

I own the RAV-4 Hybrid and the Outlander looks nice, though I wonder about reliability. Nevertheless, the Plug-In to come for the Mitsubishi should be interesting. I found the videography could have been much better in this video though (ie. have no idea where that headrest hiding place was in the car, you go on for a good moment about the shifter, but don’t show the actual shifter or a proper visual as to why you don’t like it). Anyway, keep up the vids.

Well yeah you have more space in the rav4. You have the seats recline vs the outlander that you didn’t.

Outlander is very practical for family car, and huge step over older model HUGE! RAV4 just compact SUV. One important thing is that you compare Outlander with panoramic roof, without -there is more space over your head.

Spot on about the annoying shift knob in the outlander, very fiddly ! And yes I am buying the outlander and agreeing to complain about the shift knob!

If you showed a test on ease of entry into the driver seat or front passenger seat, you will notice with the RAV-4 you will need to stoop lower than the Outlander so as not to hit the top door pillar. I was an unfortunate victim when I tested the RAV-4 and I am only 5'-9"

It's a nice looking vehicle however knowing that its mated with a CVT. From Nissan look for the drivetrain not to last past 90 to 100 thousand miles

The biggest weakness to the Mitsubishi is the unnecessary 3rd row seats as to a spare tire which should always be mandatory in a vehicle. If someone buys a car for features, its the obvious answer they don't plan on keeping it very long. comfort is definitely more important than a "premium feeling", and the CVT transmission in general are garbage and do not have the power or dependability as a standard 6-10 speed automatic transmission (and the only brand to actually make a Reliable one is.. Toyota/Aisin) Reliability and resale value will always be better for Toyota, which Mitsubishi used to be very competitive about between the 90s and 00s

Mitsubishi has a cool factor. The Toyota looks frumpy.

The Outlander has so many great features at an attractive price, but the low power keeps me from considering it. I drive through hills a lot, and I want something that will do light off-roading. It would be perfect if the power plant produced between 230 and 250 horsepower and torque.

Outlander looks nicer but it's way under powered. only 181HP and a big body. While Rav4 is 201HP with a smaller body. As much as I like the Outlander looks I would buy the Rav4 due to the extra HP.

Great comparison… I feel your pain with the shifter but I feel part of that may be because the eventual PHEV version will of course have a similar thing, as with the previous PHEV, since there is a single fixed ratio and no gears at all.

Well, the gear shifter on 2021 outlander was archaic as everything else inside, they've totally revamped it for 2022, kudos to Mitsu!

I'm glad he keeps saying that everything is "actually" this and "actually" that, otherwise I wouldn't believe that anything he said was actually so.

he forgot the fuel consumption figures. the hybrid will win every day of the week with that, also on resale too.

To be fair, isn't the RAV-4 a hybrid? (based on the gauge cluster on the rav-4 it says "charge" so I'm guessing its a hybrid). You really can't compare a hybrid with a normal gas vehicle

Good review but we will see if the Outlander can keep up with the Rav4's reliability and longevity. The Rav4's never die, there's a reason car try to compare themselves with those vehicles

Outlander PHEV 2023 model is out in Australia and New Zealand as far as I am aware, 7 seater 84km electric range. Pretty impressive.

You cannot compare a hybrid vehicle with a electric motor vs a natural aspirated vehicle.. Obviously the N/A will be slower off the line with both 2.5 engines.

Outlander looks nicer but the performance and power in the Rav4 puts a smile on your face. Outlander gt in Canada ive seen between 45-56k which is very high considering you don’t get much of an engine. More style and luxury.Personal pref.

I have a Sport that looks like the RAV. It's got great trunk space. The interiors on the Misubishi is fabulous. RAVa with a little help from team logo merchandising can look all geared up.

I don’t understand the issue with the shift knob. It’s as simple as it gets. If you’re in park, push the button on the side of the knob and push up to go to reverse. Push down to go to drive and push button on top to park.

I am now looking to buy my fourth car and Toyota has never been a consideration for me so i would pick the outlander without even watching this

I like all Japanese cars, mostly Toyota. I rented Outlander, RAV4, Rouge also Tucson the kia and the Jeep in 2019 and 2020. The best is the RAV4 then Outlander by far. Power - Efficiency balance these 2 are the best. RAV4 is the most roomy so 3 adults can be seated in 2nd line of seats very comfortable but not in the Outlander. CVT SUVs but the Mitsubishi or Toyota are the mid decent ones, and if a CVT brakes is too expensive to fix. Not really represent an economy son less than a litter per 100km of saving. Resale price only Toyota and Honda are good but the rest. Nissan and Mitsubishi get rust very fast like 5-7 years old and the AC dies fast too but a Toyota or Honda, never! Summary, for rent Outlander really compete to RAV4 but if I am looking for a long term, just RAV4 is the option!

none of the outlander packages or options include ventilated seats. I love the invention of ventilated seats and even cooled seats (cooled are more complicated using either compressors or the Peltier Effect type apperatus) , but ventilated seats are easy with the fan blowing in the seat is good enough for me, and i prefer that often to the cooled seats. To be honest because I live in a hot climate, a lack of ventilated seat option is what makes me look at other brands. Mitsubishi should fix this.
