They don't expect you to change it because the car is disposable and they figure it will be recycled before the filter is full

My Infiniti Q70 (also a Nissan product) requires you to: 1. Pull off the glovebox door 2. Pop off the panel covering the right end of the dashboard 3. Unscrew the glovebox (7 screws) 4. Detach the kick panel under the glovebox 5. Remove the air filter cover Before you can get at the air filter. And then you have to do the above steps in reverse when you’re done, which is harder than removing them because you have to get it all to correctly line up and the little string that makes the door open slowly is a pain to reattach. And since most of these parts just snap into place, when I was done I had several new rattles in that area. 😬

Most Nissans are a pain to do that. But after doing a few. I got quite good at it. Now for the Volvo... It's on the driver side instead with the all pedals in your way xD😂

Wow that's crazy. I guess the explanation is that indeed they consider it a non serviceable item. And that's bonkers. Unless they have a really great prefilter up top or something

My wife's Nissan rogue is like this, but it's on the driver's side. So, you have to squish the crap out of it while working around the gas and brake pedals. Pain in the arse.

Wow, that's horrific. My Nissan 2024 Sentra SR is stupid easy to change with no tools and no cramped space. Also you don't smush the filter in the process, just goes right in. I assumed it would be a similar thing with my boyfriend's 2023 Leaf which I'm going to assume is this same design.

Yep, I service my family’s Rogues (2010/2017) and both have this feature but on opposite sides. I’ve seen videos where you pinch the filter in the middle and then angle it so it fans out. Completely unnecessary for a company that ran out of ideas and placed it there as an afterthought.

It’s kind of a Nissan hallmark at this point. The Juke was horrendous. At least you didn’t have actually SAW AWAY part of the dash like MkII Honda Odyssey.

First gen Honda pilot gotta cut away the part of the glove box if your replacing the cabin filter for the first time and removing the metal bar.

my 2013 crv is due for a transmission fluid change.The shop i go to told me any fluid will do . my owners manual says Honda DW1 .what do you recommend?

For transmission fluid I would stick to the OEM DW1. I don't use anything else and it takes out the guess work on if it will work in my vehicle. Also if you are doing your rear differential fluid and you can't get the Honda OEM dual pump fluid eneos is another brand you can use. We actually had a back order on it and had to use eneos but it was more expensive than the Honda oem.

Same with the Nissan Murano's. Except the filter is a bit bigger. No idea what the Nissan engineers were thinking.

Cheap design. It's like this because they only have 1 part for both rhd and lhd vehicles. Saves them money not having to have 2 part numbers depending on region. But crap location, only benefit is you can clean the coils easier. Another downside is if you live in a humid environment, it'll get your filter wet.
