Drove the Lynx last week for about 50kms, and it was hands down more fun than my XCR/Assault. We'll see what Polaris does for the XCR this year, but if it's nothing earth shattering, I'll be picking up the RAVE RE.

@@JESSEJAMES322 I really liked the playfulness ditch banging, how the tracks work like a motocross bike. One of the best parts of my Assault is the stand up riding position and ability to body the sled where you want it, I get that in spades with the Lynx. I never thought I'd be interested in a BRP product, but this is amazing.

@@djg1028 I don't really have that problem to be honest, I find it easy to maneuver on the seat myself without nailing the panels. Having said that though, I tend to move around allot and stand, so it wasn't an issue for me. Waiting on the XCR announcement to see who gets my sled money for next year. :)

Because my Assault didn't arrive yet I ended up on a Lynx Rave. Agree with you. Cancelling my Assault and maybe a Lynx Xterrain to go with Rave. That's after 11 Polarises. I expected not to like the ergos, handing and it's good. The Canadian guys--Snowtrax I think--who frankly love Polarises--he recanted and said Rave is funnest sled yet. I expected it to be too harsh--Opposite. My Asault with custom $3200 fullHygear shocks/springs was close, but not better.

Not always easy to admit we like what we like especially when comparing it to the "new sled on the block" but kudos for being honest! Not too surprised it didn't fit your preferences. I would be interested to hear your thoughts after riding a doo and lynx back to back I found them to handle a lot different but its coupled vs uncoupled which is probably the biggest factor of them all in my opinion. (Also sucks when people say you have to try "x" sled to appreciate "y" sled so not trying to be that guy but it is a genuine interest of mine) Glad you finally got to try one tho! Keep up the grind 4k here you come!

I agree on that i would like to now try back to back. I think id feel the same. would dislike both ergos and would like the lynx better due to the shock package. I think they did a great job with that honestly. Ski-Doo should step up there game in that department and give the Ski-Doo's some solid ( i dont mean dont move) shocks!

Have a lynx with roughly 1800 miles on it now, setting sag properly made a huge difference in cornering along with 6" carbides. I have all shocks set almost to full stiff and still think it's a bit soft, and I weigh 165lbs. I hear you on the panel design with knee banging but wearing knee braces make it a non issue. Brakes are pretty crappy, have had pretty significant fade these past few trips that I'm hoping I can fix with better pads and new fluid.

And like you said getting toe holds and bringing them Back, I did that with the snow cross toe holds it was a bit better but the panels are so vertical that it wasn't that great. It kept me in a better position but man that thing was so uncomfortable, and the brakes would fade half the cross country race corner to corner. I know that's been updated, but I has having that problem all they way back to the xp chassis days, never had that problem with the rev or the axys. And the seat I had to shave flat, every bump I hit that thing would push me forward right to the bars. And during that one year of races I had to change out the tunnel protector like 3 or 4 times, worst tunnel profile I've worked with.

Heres a good example of how opinions work. My experience after 11 Polaris 800/850's and the the last three being Assaults which I thought was my end-all: I "had" to buy a Lynx Rave as my Assault wasn't coming in. I was skeptical as I thought it would be too rough. No. After riding that, I subsequently sold my Assault the minute it dropped last week. I will look at a Lynx Xterrain--basically, their Assault--which has that Rave suspension so good that my Hygear Axis custom shocks on my Assault could not match. That rear skid geometry. Must be. Going back for another. I'd ride one properly set upon course. Oh--pretty much dead tie with my other Indy 137" 1.375 Cobra across a snow covered lake.

the shocks are great. thats how all shocks need to feel and need to come from factory. We unfortunately get watered down versions because 99% of the peopel complain they're too stiff which results in manufacturers producing very soft sleds. But the Lynx works great i wont say that it doesnt. I just dont like the ergo's of the lynx/skidoo sleds and thats a huge deal for me! Have a 17 Assault 800 and 21 Matryx Assault 850 for true crossover use and rode a preproduction 2023 Xtrerrain RE 300+ miles last week and it pains me to say this as a loyal Polaris guy but it crushes the Assaults. That skid and shock package is easily the best and most adjustable I've ever ridden. When dialed in it handles everything from minor trail chop to full blown g-outs very well while never leaving the line or kicking you. Very impressive. All the things I didn't like about the G4 Ski-Doo's this sled corrects. Much better clutching with far less engine braking, firm and much better slope to the seat, the ski's are as good as SLP Mohawks, the sled feels light and playful while the G4 backcountry feels heavy and cumbersome. It carves in powder with ease and sidehilling is virtually effortless. And if you are willing to stay active it is a very capable trail sled and feels much shorter than a 2" 146 because of the aggressively tipped up rail. The only trade off is the gauge as I love the 7S but that's not enough to stop me from moving to the Lynx. My 21 is on FB Marketplace and I'll likely be putting my $500 down on the Lynx soon. Just thought you might like to know as we appear to have similar goals.

@@philjessen2214 Ding! Same. Going to place my order for Xterrain literally now. Found a price of $18,160 with all fees and including 6% Michigan sales tax-cheaper than a 2023 Assault price with NO E/S from my dealer. Plus at the open house in my town last weekend, Lynx rep said they will only spring check the amount of sleds they can deliver-including spare parts in inventory. Let’s hope. In short: Lynx is not a SkiDoo. See Snow Trax video on the Rave and we know they love Polarises-Lynx gets his highest praise.

@@tomtraynor5384 My OTD was $18,358 on the Xterrain but MN gets us for 7.375% so we are at a very similar number before tax. All costs before tax is $16,980 for me. Every dealer I've discussed it with has indicated that they get a total allocation number of BRP products and when the allocations are done - no more orders are taken. I'm waiting for a really knowledgeable shock guy to call me back to see if he's had any success with turning around the Assault ride by revalving. My 21 is simply a foul handling sled. I'm about 190 lbs with gear and all clickers are at 1 and this thing is harsh as crap but then blows through the stroke when you do hit a g-out. I'm just not convinced that the IGX suspension geometry is correct. C-Motion skids on backcountry's are substantially better and the Xterrain is in a leaque all it's own. So even the Hygear shocks didn't do the trick? If I would have ridden my sled before buying it I would have walked away. I've put many miles on a 22 Switchback XC 850 and it's every bit as foul even with the QS3's. Seems the Polaris 128's and 137's are terribly undersprung and underdampened and the 146's are exactly the opposite. My seat is a board also and the cover was so slippery in powder that I put a Rox gripper seat cover on it with 1/2" extra padding which made it tolerable. Bottom line is the Axys seat was the best in the industry and the Matryx is one of the worst. So have you actually ridden an Xterrain?

Pretty biased towards Polaris as you are an ambassador so its expected on your review. Both sleds perform close and its a personal preference. If the XCR was THAT good why did you mod it out as shocks and skis are the main "tool" to make any sled perform. So as you are a Polaris Team member you are a little tough on the review. I have a Switchback Assault Axis chassis and ridden both side by side and ergos are not as bad as you say in the video. both are great sleds and do great in all areas. A sled is as good as its shock package, setup, setup and setup. If Medina MN gives you more off on a sled the more you add to your toy garage and your current ride. For the normal Joe rider either sled is a good ride as long as the price is good for them. BTW did the driveshaft bearing give up on you yet or did the jackshaft bearing let go yet? Lets be true in the reviews.. what exactly have you done to tune in your sled to your preferences? Track, gearing, clutching, ski's, shocks, bar riser, heated seat, carbides, studs, etc. So how much did Polaris pad your pockets to keep riding a Polaris next season? And yes I know they have a 900 coming or a land turbo on the way. I am not brand specific but be a bit unbiased on your reviews Go stock for stock and I dont want to hear about ergos.... Switching between my 2 sleds its a small distance between the panels.

I am not a Polaris ambassador. I am Not paid by Polaris. I am not paid by anyone. I have no contract with anyone. I have no reason to swing more to one side. This was my opinion and it’s been my opinion of the Gen 4 and skidoo sleds for a bunch of years now hence why I switched to Polaris all by myself. I never tried to hide that we have worked on my suspension. I’ve documented every single step along the way. On top of all that I also said that this sled did feel great in the bumps. I said the shocks are top notch and I won’t say anything otherwise. I absolutely hate the ergonomics of It just like I did the Gen 4 that I owned. And don’t say I don’t wanna hear about ergonomics… if they’re not a big deal when why do manufacturers spend millions to change them and make the cockpit area skinner or more comfortable. It’s one of the biggest part of a sled.So no this wasn’t a “paid for” review. This was an honest opinion of the sled. And on top of all that… if I wanted the Polaris to seem like the better out of the box sled would I have told everyone e about all the suspension work I have done? No. So think before you post ridiculous comments trying to call me out. and know your facts

Oh Timmy, if you actually took time to watch the video, and listened to the points Jesse was making. You would’ve heard that he was on SkiDoo during his racing career. Look at every factory race team. Are they using stock skis? Do they dial in their shock settings? You’re trying to discredit him for dialing in his sled with what he likes and what he has been used to riding for years. Like He said, you can change setup until you are blue in the face, but do you know what doesn’t change? Ergonomics. I would assume you aren’t an aggressive rider if you think the ergonomics are a non-issue. The Skidoo/Lynx is inches wider in the footwells. If you don’t think that is an issue, again, you’re not understanding the importance of ergonomics and biomechanics. You could change every piece of these sleds to fit your liking- skis, track, suspension, seat, handle bars, etc… but you know what won’t change? Ergonomics. You’re discrediting your own comment by trying to leave out the one thing a rider can’t change. Assuming someone is making remarks for or against a product because they are being “paid” for them is the cheapest form of criticism. Do better.

I don’t get this at all lol… if you truely raced snowmobiles then you would love the suspension and shocks. The ride characteristics of a Lynx is hands down the best in the industry. The Polaris matryx is horrible… it’s like sitting on a pickup truck.. they are huge and bulky, slow and tame, they have no snap and are just lazy. Polaris only good thing is their 7s screen. Let alone the recalls from hell on the last 2 years.. 90% of people couldn’t even ride their 20000 snowmobiles because Polaris is fucking garbage. Their fit and finish is honestly worse then Cf moto lol..

if you listened i said the lynx suspension is how suspension needs to come from the factory but they dont turn for shit. thje brakes on the lynx suck because they are drive shaft mounted brakes not jackshaft mounted. power i agree the e tecs are better. as for being huge and bulky that would be the lynx. the ergo's are absolute garbage on them. no knee room. so wide at the feet. but everyone has their own opinion so its all good!

@@JESSEJAMES322 I guess I’m talking about the 24’s which are the radian 2 platform. The legroom and plastic room is a ton more, the power on Polaris is still the biggest let down to me. Their boost feels like the 850 Stock Should feel ( I believe it’s around 15 more hp.) brakes i guess I don’t really notice as you only Ride them a little when driving fast, you don’t slam On them all the time. I didn’t notice and brake fading on the 24’s we tested this last late winter/spring. Either way, ya everyone has their opinion.

Again I completely disagree. The boost never stops pulling. Down low they are very similar. But anytime you get some room they go. On top of that there was a lot left on the table in the clutching department for the boosts. I good clutch kit snd It was a completely different sled

@@JESSEJAMES322 I have a ton of time on a boost as my brother has a 23 assault boost and i ordered a 24 xterrain but current sled is a 23 rave. My sled is a 137 with 1.6 and 102 studs. His is a 146 with 1.25 ice ripper. My sled absolutely destroys his from a dead stop or a roll… it isn’t even close. Of course I have more top end also so he can’t catch me there either. In mountains the turbo sleds are great as you don’t lose any power with altitude but buying these turbo sleds for normal riding is a waste.. 10-12 horsepower is what you are actually getting atleast on dynos from places that are checking and that isn’t worth it. The brakes are the same on gen 5 skidoos I believe? Anyways to each their own. Not gonna argue anymore. It’s your opinion, cheers🍻
