They sell a bed step as an accessory. When you push the button to open the tailgate it also drops down the step.

Hey Jesus! Video coming soon of my rear bed step and other new parts. I saw that automatic rear bed step for the first time on a Capstone. It is nice, but man its $$$$. Manual one is more reasonable. Stay tuned for the video.

OK. As a fellow 2022 Lunar Rock TRD Pro owner, I would have to say I agree with all your likes and some dislikes hands down. However...a couple of your dislikes are the same as every other person that has given this truck a review (i.e., tow hooks and bed step/tailgate). Bed steps/tailgate... Ok I can understand that some people may need a bed step or a fancy tailgate. For one the Ford F150 fancy tailgate with the step are flimsy and cheaply built and are not a standard feature. I have yet to see one on a truck that is more than a year old where the step portion isn't bent or not fitting flush the tailgate and the handle is bent or broken off. Chevy/GMC has a nice fancy tailgate too which to me is situational and not necessary not to mention these are expensive options to those trucks at $1000 to $2000. So if you think of it, if you install the bed step accessory on your Tundra after the fact it is still cheaper than other brands fancy tailgate options. I mean Toyota did not get a lot of people asking for a fancy tailgate so they didn't make one. If you want one in a future trim level be prepared to pay more. I also don't mind the piped in engine noise. I mean we are driving a TT V6. The noise Makes me forget about previous gens V8 while I'm pulling away from a 2021 or older Tundra. Sorry guys I can't hear your V8 exhaust from my rearview mirror:). If you don't like it the dealership can disable it for you. Now COST. Sorry bro but you, like many of us, don't get to complain about price. A lot of us paid a markup for these TRD Pros so that is on us not Toyota. If you look at strictly MSRP and compare a Ford F150 Lariat (non off-road) with the power boost hybrid engine similarly equipped you are at over $70K MSRP easily. So for those saying the Tundra is expensive please compare to other manufacturers out there. Heck I even priced out a F150 XLT with cloth seats no premium audio, no pano roof, etc. and that was even in the $66K to $68K range. Wow this comment was too long sorry about that. I just needed to call out things that some don't realize. I love the content man keep it coming!

Great feed back! Couple things: 1. The majority "borrow" the TRD PRO Tundra from Toyota to review. It's great and all, but they only have the truck for a short period of time which makes their impressions somewhat less credible compared to those who actually own the truck. For those of us who live in this world of TRD Pro ownership, I highlighted those dislikes primarily because I am constantly reminded of them. 2. The tailgate: I agree, the rear bed step is a cheaper option. But why make it an option when it should have been standard? If you look at your manual, it says that the maximum weight that can be placed on the tailgate down is 200lbs. From a convenience perspective, it would have been great if they just had the bed step installed with the truck from factory and roll the price into the overall cost of the truck. 3. Fake exhaust sound: Don't get me wrong, it sounds nice inside. But I am a purist and enjoy the natural sound of my vehicles. Never been a fan of "fake exhaust sounds". Now, my F150 Eco boost was fully built and that thing sounded amazing! I had the full race full mount intercooler, Tial BOV, down pipes, solo exhaust, etc. It really opens it up and you can hear the spool. My F150 actually sounded like a turbo diesel. But outside of the fake noise, this does not take away from its performance. 4. Cost: Fortunately, I have the means to purchase this truck. Not necessarily complaining, but would still have preferred to pay closer to MSRP. It was strictly my choice to buy this truck at that price and as I stated, there was no way I was giving up my truck. Had 5 people behind me waiting for me to pass it up and that made me want it more lol. I am always open to paying less or saving money haha. But I speak for those who saw the TRD Pro Tundra as their dream truck and the higher price may have made it completely unattainable for them. But currently, my $5k markup is very reasonable because now you will see $10-20k mark ups on this truck. At least I drove out at $94k with options and add ons that I actually like. So that additional cost went into the add ons to the truck rather than going to the dealership. But no worries on the long comment. I like it! It is very informative and it is always great to provide viewers a different owner's perspective. Thanks for watching and your constant support!

You’re right Tyler, it’s really not that bad. It does sound like a V8 inside and the synchrony with the rpms and gas pedal are 100% accurate. I love hearing the natural sound of my vehicles. I guess I just can’t get over the fact it’s fake 😁.

I got my 22’ TRD pro last week. Loving it so far; I am surprised that they vinyled the A pillar, what are your thoughts on that? Wish it was a painted piece but I guess it makes more economical sense for them to wrap it. Also in Canada we didn’t get the special TRD pro tundra floor mats, just regular tundra floor mats.. might need to order them from the US. On a positive not I bought it for MSRP; dealerships are not allowed to sell over.
@TristanGrimaldo
@TristanGrimaldo Жыл бұрын
Congratulations on your TRD Pro! I was honestly thinking the same thing about the pillar and why they also chose a lighter color versus black. It's acceptable I guess haha. And that's surprising regarding the floor mats, especially because it isn't really a big ticket item so you would think it would be a standard with the TRD Pro.

Hey James! Congratulations on your truck. Black with the red interior was initial preferred choice. Looks so good in black and actually compliments the technical cam more. I forwarded your question to Tony (service director for FRED HAAS TOYOTA). You are correct on the positive terminal. He said for the negative, you actually attach the negative cable end to any bare metal are for the ground. You wouldn't go to the battery directly. I'll put your request on my video content list. Thank you for the recommendation and stay tuned for more!

I’m not a fan of the fake engine sound either. I finally got my TRD Pro. Solar Octane, also not my first choice, but man is the color growing on me. It’s a beast. Congratulations Andrew! You know, my color choices were: Black, Solar Octane, and Lunar Rock. I saw a Solar Octane in person and it definitely grabs your attention. But man what a beautiful color. Later down the road, the Solar Octane I am sure will be the most desirable color since its a signature TRD Pro color. And will also increase the overall value of your truck. I love my color, but if I could go back I would get Solar Octane! And yes, accessories install coming soon! Stay tuned and thank you for watching and your overall support.

You mentioned how bad the fit of the vented door panel on the hybrid compartment. Mine doesn’t fit well either, but what I’ve noticed that I think is even worse is the plastic for the entire hybrid enclosure is turning brown? It isn’t very noticeable until it is exposed to direct sun light, not sure if anyone else has noticed this issue or is it only specific to mine? I haven’t taken it into the dealership yet but definitely think it’s a pretty big issue. The entire battery enclosure will have to be replaced in my opinion.
@TristanGrimaldo
@TristanGrimaldo Жыл бұрын
Yeah definitely get it evaluated. I initially found out because I saw the vent cover on the floor. Figured it just fell off so I put it back on and thought nothing off it. Saw it again on the floor and that’s when I realized it was a fitment issue

agree with you there. I don’t understand the discrepancies in features. I also think that Toyota should have made the ambient lighting and heads up display a standard feature on the TRD Pro. They may need to reconsider the chain of command for the Tundra 😂
