We bought a 2022 Venza XLE at the beginning of November 2022 (we were on a wait list). Just a day after purchasing the 2022 were informed from another dealer we were waitlisted at, that a 2023 model would be available end of December 2022. We were still glad to have acquired the 2022 model (I actually like the video screen with manual selector buttons better than the new video screen with touch sensors in the 2023 model). We had traded in a 2013 Lexus RX 450h for this Venza. The RX consistently got 26mpg while the Venza is averaging 38mpg. We have gotten 42.5mpg in the Venza a couple of times. The car is smooth, has good power and handles great. We were pleasantly surprised by the power considering we went from a 6-cylinder to a 4-cylinder engine. The Venza and RX 350 look similar but the Venza does have a smaller interior. We are a Lexus family but the price of Lexus cars is getting ridiculous so we went with the Venza. Granted the Lexus has more bells and whistles (which we hardly ever used) and is quieter on the road but the cost difference is so much it made sense to go with the Venza. BTW it’s not just the car price itself. The Lexus does not come with 2 years free maintenance, yearly license fees (if your state charges on the residual price of the vehicle) and last is sales tax (the higher cost of the car the more tax you pay). We have been on a couple 3000-mile road trips since purchasing it and it’s doing great. We think it was a good choice and have no regrets.

I've grown fond of your videos. You do a pretty good job. I also think you generally got it correct when saying it was better to have a standard engine rather than a turbo however, the Atkinson cycle engine being used in the Venza is fairly complex but I agree that it's in similar complexity to most standard engine offerings and in the long run everyone is probably better off not having a turbocharged engine rather than a conventional. Thanks for the video. In my current locale, I'm averaging 45 miles per gallon in my 2021 Toyota Venza! I absolutely love this Synergy HYBRID system Toyota has been perfecting for 25 years so much, after driving my Venza for the last 16 months I also purchased a RAV4 Hybrid. The RAV4 hybrid costs about $2,000 more than a standard RAV4, but based on the fuel savings I've already achieved on the same platform in a Venza it will pay for itself in about a year. After that I'll be saving $2,000 a year in fuel costs. I realize people's needs are different, but Toyota hybrids check a lot of boxes for most people.

I'm very happy with my Venza Limited. 46-47 mpg, mostly in town driving. It's comfy like my Ford Fusion hybrid was. I live in the mountains of AZ so don't have the cold weather like Minnesota or Canada. My car doesn't seem noisy like some complain about. Maybe it's because I don't have the Stargaze roof? And yes, it has a spare tire.

I have the 2021 fully loaded model. I live in Seattle. Mixed driving, Winter 39 mpg, Summer 41-43 mpg. Love the smart environmental controls where it turns on and off vents depending on passenger capacity. Toyota safety sense 2.0 may not be the newest, but it has the features you need for a daily drive. Fit and finish are flawless. Cars are built in Japan. Stargaze roof helps to keep out the heat during the Summer. A little wind noise at high speed, but ride is comfortable. Cabin feels upscale, and compared to the Lexus NX, you get so many more features for less money. Entry level NX hybrid is priced at almost the same price as a fully loaded Venza and they recommend premium over regular gas. Reliability and proven engine technology from the Prius sealed the deal for me.

I have the same car, and I agree with all the positive points you have here and most of what Shari said in the video. However, I have these comments neither of you mentioned: 1. my recent road trip from Vancouver BC to Southern California was not as pleasant as I'd expected. My south bound trip turned very noisy soon after crossing the border into the State of Washington. The loud noise getting into the car I believe is from both the a, not so well maintained road surface on I-5 and higher speed limits in the U.S. than in Canada, b, sound proof in the Venza design in general is not very good. That trip had been a difficult one in terms of conversations with the passenger, quite a disappointment. I expected a better experience out of a premium trim, the Limited; 2. I believe it is perhaps due to a design culture, but the steering wheel warmer being partial is something very hard to take. It feels warm only at 10 & 2 O'clock on the wheel with the rest of the wheel cold is something very strange.

I’ve been driving Toyota’s for 40+ years. We looked at the Venza and loved the car. We called our auto insurance and if we would have bought the Venza our auto insurance would have increased by $1K a year. Then we looked at the Outback. Once again we called our insurance agent and our insurance would increase by $300 a year. We bought the Outback. Great video Shari.

We were able to find a 2022 Venza LE with only 2000 miles on it for a great price. The dealer, when we looked for a new one was horrible to work with and had zero vehicles to even test drive. They would not honour the Labour Day sale either and prices were jacked. I feel so fortunate to find this one and love this car. It’s even the pearl colour I wanted and cost the same as the Corolla Cross but with way more luxury.

I drove the 2022 NX 350 and 2022 Venza. I went to the Lexus dealership planning to order the NX. After test driving both vehicles, the Venza is the clear choice for me. The Venza felt more insulated than the NX. That was very shocking to me. Lots of wind and road noise in the NX even at low speeds. The Venza is also more spacious and comfortable. I’m in the US and priced both vehicles at the dealerships with comparable options. The NX was $10,000 more. A Lexus badge and a 4th year of warranty is not worth 10k to me. I can purchase an extended warranty for much less. The dealership told me it will take 2-3 months to get the Venza limited.

Walked into a dealer in august to order a RAV 4. Went outside to look at colors of cars to see what the wife wanted. Seen the Venza sitting there and thought it was a RAV. Took a test ride and bought it. I am at 13000 miles now and really like the car. Gas milage is between36 - 42 MPG all of the time. The Venza I bought came in the day before I bought it.

I just finished driving the 2022 Venza Limited and the 2022 Lexus NX Premium, The Venza was overall a smoother and quieter drive than the NX. The reason was because the Venza does not come equipped with RUN-FLAT tires, as the NX does. With the Run-Flat tires, the driver feels the the road thru the steering wheel and hears more road noise. I wish Lexus didn't make that choice, I love the Lexus interior.
@matrix-fh9tn

Only thing holding me back from buying the NX350h is not having a spare tire. I mean Run Flat tires can be replaced with conventional tires when the time comes, but risky without spare tire. And aftermarket spare tire takes up valuable space. Venza has spare tire and built in navigation map, but dislike the infotainment display. Grrrr...wait continues. 😌

I'm trying to decide on a new vehicle and 2 high considerations include the Venza and the Kia sportage hybrid. Toyota has the reliability, but Kia seems to be rating well with their new vehicles outside knowing reliability on the new vehicles. I like the looks of both and both test drives were enjoyable. I don't mind losing the space, but confused about towing...venza is not rated for towing, but has a 3500lb towing capacity (per 2 dealerships and a couple videos online)??? Biggest concern is reliability; I'm replacing a 15yo car and wanting something living up to another 15 years. I always thought I'd buy a subaru, but currently no hybrid option in the midwest. Any recommendations or answers on the towing capacity? I did message Toyota for clarification, but have yet to hear back.

I would have already bought the RAV4 if it wasn't for the infotainment screen that looks like it's from 5 years ago. If I'm going to buy something and have it for 10 years, I need something with a modern look and feel. Hopefully they upgrade soon. The Venza might check that box for me, I'll have to check it out in person.

I would also wonder about the MGR cable exposure to water and road salt which has been a problem in the Rav 4. The coverage on that cable like the Rav 4 I would suspect is only for the first 3 years of ownership. The battery pack replacement down the road will it be a weaker version of the original OEM based on raw materials available to make these batteries and at what cost to the owner.

I'm really starting to get concerned that there is a greater chance the next series on rav4 won't have the updated infotainment system. only good thing is that it will be released later this year or early next year. so there's time.

When I did a test drive of one around town, I averaged 47 mpg with the Venza. That, and all that was listed in this vid, is why I went for one. Last thing, this car has a spare, the CRV does not. Another plus. Update: Had this car for 2 days now and I am averaging over 40mpg commuting in the warm weather. Gas is now 5.25 a gallon where I live. Great video Shari. The Venza looks promising, but interior space is important and so I will need to see if this is a good fit for the family. You didn't mention if a spare tire is included as some of the hybrids removed the spare to make room for a battery pack. But even at it's higher price it still looks good. I would definitely choose it over any Hyndai/Kia product, but I'm still considering a Honda CRV. or a Mazda CX-50.

We looked at the Venza but the views out of the rear was horrible and our insurance premiums were going to go up an additional $1K per year. The Venza also only comes with Depressing Grey or Death Black interior colors and after being forced into buying those standard colors since 1990, we simply refuse to buy another vehicle equipped with those colors. Thankfully our 12 Rav 4WD Limited had Tan leather interior and our 19 Outback has Ivory interior.

My thoughts too on the reliability of the Korean brands. They make a good car, but not up to Toyota and Honda standards for longevity. I think we have narrowed it down to the Venza or the RX 450h (if we can find one).

The Venza has better dependability than the Mazda. I am talking about for someone who wants to own any of the cars for atleast 5 years and atleast 100,000 miles. Do you want to own jt fir a long time? then get Venza. You will have fewer breakdowns and less cost of maintenance. Better resale value too. If you want to keep the car for a short while, then get the Mazda.

@@drdrosamaokasha I have been lucky with Nissan. I bought a brand new 2008 Nissan Maxima in 2008. I drove it very hard and very fast from day 1. It lasted me 12 years and I put 268,800 miles on it before it died on a road trip when I was doing 120mph, car just coasted till it stopped. The transmission was out. I got it towed to Nissan and they wanted $4,300 to fix it. So, I just sold the car on Craigslist for $1,000 and bought a brand new 2020 Honda Accord Hybrid. Ok review for someone who drove a Venza for a week? I’ve owned mine for a year, a 21 Venza Limited fully loaded with 10,000 miles. Let’s just say that 90% of the review is based on that 1-week of driving. Try living with this thing. The interior space is a joke, cargo capacity is limited because of the shape of the roof over the hatch, in fact, it’s one of the worst in the segment. It’s loud and getting worse due to the crappy Bridgestone tires and poor Toyota sound insulation, The ECVT is not good in the winter and the moaning will drive you crazy. Instrumentation and the center stack is hap hazard in design. If you like the big screen, you get dated graphics and touch capacitive controls which the reviewer mentioned. Want a opening sunroof? Not here as you get a fixed panel glass roof that changes color. Window glass seems thin which leads to wind noise. Carpeting is thin and cheap certainly compared to Hyundai Santa Fe or Kia Sorento. And now what they don’t tell you; hybrids LOSE mpg in cold and winter months due to the batteries not warming up. That means your little 2.5 gas engine is working harder than normal. As advertised by Toyota, mpg for Venza is 40 in town. Because I live in Minnesota, I averaged 28-31 mpg. in winter months. Still not bad but this thing will lose 20-25% mpg in the cold. Comparisons have been made to the Lexus NX saying: the Venza is “Lexus light”. It’s not, it’s just a better Toyota and one that in my mind, is overpriced by 5-10K American. Too much money at $44,000 MSRP. For the same money and better power train warranty, check out the offerings from Mazda, Honda, Kia or Hyundai. Hell, you can save money and do a RAV4 limited hybrid if you wanted a Toyota.

I just bought mine today. I'll let you know how it goes. Oh, and I haven't even SEEN it yet! That's right. It's getting leather added and delivered. I have a lesson for us on the goodness of God and how He sees the entire chessboard of our lives. I moved into my new home on Sep. 20th. My hired helpers stood me up, so as an indigent man named Trai Limley and another by the street name of Ziggy passed by I offered them $40/hr to help me unload my U-Haul truck. While in my home, one of them, likely Trai, stole my house key and car key. I immediately had my locks changed and bought a new pair of FOBs, but Todd, at Saverino's Locks programmed the new FOB to the OLD CODE, which defeated the purpose, namely securing my car. Consequently, on the 29th, I awoke to my car being gone from my driveway. Some might immediately think that's "terrible," but I trust God completely, so I thought, "That's interesting. I can't wait to see what comes of this." I thought it possible that the Lord simply wanted to bless a criminal with a car, I am not afraid to admit that I don't know all the things that the Lord is doing in the world. LoL Trai had me drop him off at a flop house after he helped me unload the truck, so I knew where to find him. I found him and told him that I forgave him for stealing my keys since Jesus died for sinners like him and me and not for cars. Then I encouraged him to trust the Lord and be saved. His dad is in prison for murder and Trai has had a hard life. I told him that if I were in his shoes, I might be a thief as well, and that he was loved in spite of so many people judging him. Two weeks later, my fantastic insurer, #USAA settled for more than I could have sold the car for, which allows me to replace my 2011 car with a newer one. Perhaps this is what the Lord had in mind all along? In a cool turn of events, last night after midnight, I got a call from the St. Joe PD. It seems the Lord sent a deer to recover my car! LoL So now, the PD have leads on the thieves, I will have an opportunity to show them the love of Jesus when I see them in court, the car is at the end of its service life, the local coyotes have a venison meal to enjoy, I get a newer car and standing in the street last night, I got a chance to witness to two police officers, Rice and Ehrling and a tow truck driver! During the back and forth with the police I also got a chance to witness to two police dispatchers, a patrolman, Officer Hill and a detective, Det. Ritter. Lesson: When something "bad" happens in life, just wait! Wait and see what the Lord is doing. We don't see all the moving pieces on the chess board, but He does, and He is able and willing to use YOU and YOUR property to reach a dozen lost souls with the Gospel, if you will LOOK for opportunities!
