Coming from a 2017/18 roscoe 7. Had no problems from that time till a year ago when I sold it. Regretted it as nothing I’ve ridden feels like it. Test road this bike last weekend and was almost ready to go into debt for it. It’s the best bike I’ve ever ridden. I also haven’t written a lot of bikes. But yeah. I dream of jt. I talk about it. Now KZfaq brought your video up and I wanna go into debt. Again. It definitely wheelies better than I thought a full suspension would.

Remember, you love everything you ride! I feel like you love the Polygon every time you ride it. If you find the frame comfortable for you, you can upgrade that bike for a LOT less than buying a new one. You might need to bring Joe into it to help if you're not comfortable with doing it or what to get, but you can put the things you like on a frame you already like (and own). That said, it's not Trek orange...

Awesome bike! I picked one up last fall, felt super solid and capable...not the best value for your dollar, but not the worst. You get quality parts as well as Trek quality, their lifetime frame warranty and one of the best looking bikes out there :) I think it comes with 750 bars? ...felt a little narrow to me so I swapped out for some 780 - personal preference. I agree it puts you in an upright position, feels like you're sitting on top of the bike rather than in it. I found it helped lessen stress on my back/overall fatigue, hope to see it on the channel!

The Trek is a good choice for the front range, especially since we have to climb to descend and the price is fair for what you get. You might also want to check out the Giant Trance X 29 series. Great climbing bikes with a little more travel for the chunk that we have out here.

On a side note, to drive more subs, you might want to start featuring other popular channels, post comments with links to your channel on their videos, try to get together like you have with Joe and Jenn (though she doesn't have a channel yet) to drive traffic to your site. Word of mouth is great, and you're growing a lot, but if you end up on a channel that averages 10k views on a video you'll have big jumps in subs to yours. You're doing great, keep it up!

Hey Marty, in all reality, if you CAN stretch the funds to the EX8, grab one. I had my first ride on mine in Tuesday (got it for a 'shite I'm getting OLD birthday'), and the gear spec on it (2021 'GX' build) is great, a lot better performing that I had expected that's for sure. The reason I say get the 8 over the 5 if you can, is that the difference spent on getting the 8 to start with, over getting the EX5 and the upgrades you'll odds on end up getting will be a LOT less long term. The GX and or XT group sets on an EX8 are realistically as good as anyone will ever 'need' in reality, the Fox re:aktive rear shock is thus far proving itself fantastic, and not really noticeable in it's action based on my initial trail rides, and the 34 fork, even being a rythm, is amazing thus far. To me, the 5 is a bike you will want/need to upgrade, whereas my initial view on the EX8 is that aside from bar grips and seat (both personal things that differ on fit between people), there is nothing I need to change. The reason I am excluding the carbon 9.whatevers, is that A, I don't thing you 'need' a carbon bike, I've been on alloy frames for almost 30 years without issue, B, if I was going to spend that kinda of money to get a carbon frame, I'd be shopping Santa Cruz or alike over Trek (said by the man who happily owns an alloy Trek EX8). Happy shopping either way!

Is the rhythm their lower end fork? I'm looking at the fuel ex8 myself And why santa cruz over trek?
@kiwibob72
@kiwibob72 2 жыл бұрын
@@jbloggs4161 As for the 34 Rhythm, yes it is their lowest end 'OEM' only fork. That said, it's proving itself to be a great fork, and I am NOT someone you would ever refer to as 'Tiny Tim'. As for Santa Cruz and the reference there, the Hightower is my 'money no object' dream (non-electric) trail/AM bike, they are a boutique brand for a reason, in that they make amazing quality bikes. The Fuel EX8, I've had mine almost 6 months now, and I still get that moment of joy every time I throw a leg over it. It does everything this fat old ass needs, and then some, all while looking totally amazing to my eye!

@@kiwibob72 yeah same here I weigh like 110kg, I tried the fuel ex8 a couple weeks ago and it was great, but I could only try it near the trek shop which is in the city so not the best test I'm not that big into bikes so I always looked at trek, santa cruz, Scott, giant as kinda on the same level being that they're all "decent" brands. My dream bike is a trek rail, any spec will do 😆
@kiwibob72
@kiwibob72 2 жыл бұрын
@@jbloggs4161 You are quite a bit lighter than I am TBH (as sad as that is on my part). I always thought the fork might prove to be the weak link on my bike's GX spec due to my weight and it's lack of adjustment. It's not proven to be a weak point at all. I only replaced my brakes as I already had a set of near new G2 RSC's on hand, so why not. The grips did NOT last though, the stocks ones were shit in my opinion. If you get the EX8 (you won't regret it!), buy the fox volume spacers for both the fork and shock. I run the largest spacer in the kit for the shock, and have 3 out of the max 4 volume spacers in the fork. I'm just doing basic trail riding at my age, and it works great (even dropped some air in the front fork as a result). I did get a full Ridewrap profile cut PPF kit for it - it is well worth it even if it did take about 4 hours to install! (like mine still looks brand new!) Other than what I have pointed out above, mines totally stock, and I am happy to keep it that way, as it is just such a well rounded, capable and balanced bike - and by god does it scoot when you put power into it! ;)

@jbloggs4161 2 жыл бұрын
@@kiwibob72 ha its all good man, we're all built different and everyone has their advantages in one way or another I appreciate all the advice I'll definitely take it into account, I wouldn't have even thought about volume spacers, definitely getting some kind of wrap protection but I think I'll have someone else fit it 😆 My current bike is a marlin 8 so only very simple, but it's my first bike in 20 years so it's so much better than anything I've had before

If you like that shorter travel bike check out the Ibis Ripley AF, it's a little more expensive than the Fuel EX 5, but has a much better spec. Pedal Pushers in Golden and Base Camp in Denver both should have Ripley AF and Ripmo AF demo bikes available. I would also recommend demoing a Ripmo AF, but pick a more challenging trail like Floyd Hill or Hard Money for that one.

I'm torn between 4 bikes and I absolutely can't make up my mind. Specialized Fuse Comp, Trek Roscoe 8, Specialized Stump Jumper alloy, and Trek Fuel EX 5. I'm trying to be realistic on how much actual mountain biking I'll do and I'm just not sure. I don't want to get a full suspension and then realize I ride on the street 99% of the time. But I also don't want to start mountain biking more and wish I'd gotten a full suspension if I go hardtail. 🤔
