I'm 2 months into my speed triple 1200 ownership and I ride this cornering weapon very often and yeah chase nailed it, it's basically a naked daytona 1200 ! the engine is a 1160cc triple that has NO issues revving quickly past 7000 rpms . It's not that it's weak below that, it still grunty but not so linear. from 4k to 7 k the bike will kick forward but then builds to a scream above 8k in a more supersport kind of way. It's still more grunty than an S1000R for example. very worth noting is that the speed1200 is geared more like a superbike. 1ST gear goes to almost 90mph! In contrast, on the 1290 Superduke, 2ND gear goes to 80Mph in stock form, I suspect they held back on the torque in the 3 to 7k range slightly just so that the bike isn't a high-side monster.. cause you will be leaning this thing waaaaay over and ripping that throttle open. Some ppl have gone in and massaged throttle map tune in ecu and then the bike becomes a complete hooligan again. it's a strange bike. I find it way friendlier around town than the v1 / v2 superduke 1290. the cruise control is a peach to use and works as low as 31 mph. Yet, the riding position is a tad more sports forward than upright naked. Fuel consumption is decent for a big engine and I can get 110 miles before the low fuel warning comes in when riding in the city. The engine doesn't boil like some ducatis but then the suspension is set up leaning " towards elbow down antics(r lil stiff n a lot of feedback) All in all its is a strange but awesome bike and for the right rider it's an absolute weapon😍

OC: I will always love a Triumph. Their triples are the best sounding engines I've ever heard. And seeing the new Speed Triple RS has me swearing to myself "No you are not going to get rid of your new MT07 for a new RS." Then my brain tells me it's so pretty though.

I sold my Yamaha R1 2020 and wanted to get a naked bike because of the seating position! I did a few test drives, but none of them drove like the Triumph! Very awesome bike. I can only advise everyone to test drive this thing. I love my new Triumph Speed ​​Trible 1200 RS

I love the bike, my dealership fixed the neutral and now it is so easy to find neutral from 1st or 2nd, handling, power, comfort, I'm 5'7 is very satisfying. I don't really need to run past 115-120mph on occasion, very adequate. I don't like the style from every angle, side and back view are the best but the ride all day is a real joy!

OC I like the choices today. If you want something with low down grunt, no problem! If you want old school mild to OMG power, you can find that too. After riding my FZ6 for the past 14 years I've learned how to get the power I need when I need it. I kind of like it's mild manners in town and it's kick in power above 8k rpms. I know it's not a rocket ship, but plenty for me. I will probably seek something with more low down grunt for my next bike. I'm getting more mellow as I age.

I absolutely love mine. and it's interesting that I have the opposite reaction than Chase. Meaning I came from a Ducati Multistrada 1260S and I thought it was clunky and clumsy around town. It just wanted to run and it did it well. The triumph is twice as smooth as the Ducati to me and so much nicer around town...with a bigger punch on top as well. I have a couple common complaints like most, but I don't recall any of the dozens of bikes I've owned that I didn't have a complaint. The Speed 3RS is just a joy to ride thought!

I’ve had mine for a few months and commute a lot on it. Agree with that rattling clutch lever and mirrors. Tft is ungodly slow but hopefully that can be addressed in updates. Otherwise, I agree. Position is great for me. I’ve done 5hr trips and the only thing hurting is my knees and I have a bad back. Perfect sport/naked hybrid. Power I think is just fine down low. It’s no super duke but still makes for a relaxed ride most of the time. Anything under 20mph is a bit painful at least for me emotionally. Just a reason to buy another bike. N+1!

Oc I have owned 9 different bikes still yet to get my hands on one of these and will soon I know transferring from my 650r to my R1 is different but I can’t wait to get my hands on this bike I’m I triumph fan love them and the look and truly hoping it’s a knock out of the park with this bike

I have been riding this bike since this summer, and I LOVE IT!. I like the 3 cylinder engine sound, the exhaust has been upgraded to an Arrow. May instal carbon fiber rims in the future? It doesn't like riding in slow traffic, and I'm lucky I live in a Rural area of Utah where that's not as much of a problem, though going tothe coffees shop or just to visit a fiend in neighborhoods its not happy (reminds me of my old R1). Previously I had a Super Duke 1290 R, and I love the crazy in that bike, this one I like better!. (Its like a perfect blend of my buddy's MT-10 SP and my Super Duke and R1M I had.... Just lovely. My shift lever doesn't wiggle, and I kinda got used to the iffy shy neutral after several months, but it was pretty annoying to where I was just sometimes holding down the clutch on lights if I thought they'd be short... Not good, but it was a frustratingly thing. Get this bike in the canyons, on the road, and it shies though!).

OC...... I've been thinking about getting a bike but was too scared to do so. But I've been subbed since June and watching your videos have helped me out and come next year I will be riding!!!

I think you’re spot on chase. I bought one back in June and am thinking about moving on from it. It’s a phenomenal handling and performing motorcycle; however, the powerband isn’t 100% suitable for the kind of riding that I do most often. Not exactly sure though as it is such a fun bike to ride!

Awesome video Chase, love the way you review bikes! I am considering upgrading from my Honda cb650r to this monster and I am wondering is it too much for the street? I love sportbike characteristics but preffer more upright body position, just like you, so this bike seems like perfect to me in theory.

I hope to pick up this or the new RR next year when I'm back on proper money. They're both an insane amount of bike for the money.

Love, love this bike. Very stable, very fast and very fun. Couple of minor complaints...not deal breakers but they should be known: 1. The often mentioned neutral issue. She's about as easy to find as an honest politician. You'll only notice this at stops but you will find yourself clicking up AND down to find her 2. Why in the Hell they thought it was a good idea require you to remove a bolt to get under your rear seat is beyond me. Ridiculous. You can't keep anything under there (registration & insurance info) you'd need to access quickly. Still love this bike tho...she's a beast

EDIT 10/31/22 : I had to force triumph to buy the bike back after being unable to fix it after 3.5 months in the shop. 2 replacement parts failed. It's sad, I liked the bike when it ran but triumph and their engineers have a lot to figure out. Honestly the best way to sum up this bike: It gets out of the way. Once you get used to it, it becomes a part of you. It's so planted and stable that whatever you want to do it allows you to accomplish it. 6 months now I've had the Speed Triple 1200 RS and it's the best bike I've ever had for carving the canyons which is 99% of my riding in the Rockies. 3000+ miles this summer on it, one long trip through the mountains. Absolutely in love with it. The engine is amazing, the seat and position is super comfortable. Just can't get enough. I also have an 09 R6, had an fz-07, and started on a ninja 250 just for context. It's certainly not perfect and it's definitely a covid bike. It overheated because plastic got stuck in the radiator but got fixed. Theres a weep hole in the oil pan that leaked a little from a crushed o-ring, fixed. The headlight assembly had to be replaced from a stripped nut in the housing. Agreed the dash is too laggy and I also agree they could really do something more interesting with the dash layout, I even complained to Triumph about it in their 6 month survey that they apparently send out to buyers. AND NEUTRAL IS SUCH A PAIN. But even after all that I'm still so happy with it, it's the most fun i've had on a bike. The thing is like a F-ing rocket. And so beautiful imo. It's just a canyon weapon, so good. Weapon really is the best description. It's so planted in corners, even at crazy speeds. It's so confidence inspiring.

It might be easier to accurately describe power if you do it with tc off &/or in track mode..... Why? Because you are actually describing the power applied via mode, tc setting, lift control etc...... Hope it helps

OC: Exhaust note is very "textbook" like. That is how we like to listen from a sport bike. Love it absolutely. But I'll stick to MT-09.

7600 rpm to 9600 rpm is the REALLY strong power range! It’s as if the bike transforms into a beast in that small range of rpm’s…gentleman and well mannered before that…hormonal teenager on steroids once you get into that rev range!

OC: now compare it to the Street Triple. As fun as sporty ergo’s are, I’m looking at naked bikes for the upright posture.

I really think getting it into neutral is such an irrelevant issue, 90% of the time you shouldn't be sitting in neutral at lights anyway, and when stopped for long enough you've got time to find it. I'd much rather have a tight gearbox which won't go into neutral I'm on the power from 1st to 2nd. Also, tightening the clutch cable won't do anything for the wobbly lever...

Owned a previous gen Speed Triple, loved its low down grunt. Don't think this new bike is for me. The slow small TFT and keyless don't do it for me together with the sporty riding position. Currently riding an MT10 and it's difficult to find anything better or more fun to ride.

Just call it a street fighter. It's really a modern day standard "sporty" bike. Forget the "nakedness" every bike with out fairings are technically naked. With that being said I'm gonna go for a ride on my naked cruiser a triumph speed master😀

I've seen quite a bit 1200 reviews, and I feel like you are copying other review videos by what/ how you say things. almost like copy & paste. It's kind of annoying. like pre planned. but, I could be wrong who knows.

Final comment…this version of the beloved Speed Triple has the worst (N) position EVER! I didn’t have a issue with the lagging display or the vibration of the mirrors…but the transmission did not want to find N!
