History is very hard for those that are very empathic. We recently touched on slavery and my daughter cried when we read a book that was based an a true story where part of the family was sold and they were split up. I try to balance the tough topics in a sensitive way but, I struggle with it. For us, doing a hands-on activity helps make history and other 'boring" subjects more engaging. The combination of a pretty book, short video and project is the best bet for right now. Science History is on my radar, it seems great!

I am currently working on a plan, that I will share. The combination has an incredible amount of ideas. I want to prepare it so I have "open & go" lessons with the reading laid out, worksheets, vidoe selections and explorations/hands-on activities.
