So excited to finally be sharing what we will be using for our History Curriculum. We will be kind of making our own American History unit using America's Story from the Tuttle Twins as well as the Evan Moore History pockets.

We love Tuttle Twins! We're almost done with the first History book and I of course had to pre-order the new one that's coming in Summer. Excited to hear your thoughts on the Evan Moore pockets. I've considered using those in the past but wasn't too sure.

Im teaching these to my son for 5th grade this year, im gonna include activities and you tube videos to support each chapter, along with critical thinking conversations. Very easy to make your own curriculum . Evan moore on the side is great!!!

We tried using Gather Round US History and my 2nd grader kept having a hard time getting into it or retaining info. I’m like you and have struggled with finding a history curriculum that fits. I like the Tuttle Twins idea, we have a ton of their other hooks. Would love to see more of how you piece it together 😊.

What grade are your kids in for this history? Also, what’s your layout of your school year? Not sure if you have a video on it. Curious as you mentioned you start in July.

I think I talked about it in an update….I couldn’t match them up enough with what I was trying to do. I do like them but couldn’t incorporate them the part school year.

Next year for my 2nd grader I'm doing Beautiful Feet Early American History and I thought about adding this book as a supplement as well. Would that be age appropriate?

We started with Notgrass as well but it's just too boring. I find myself reading to them then having to reiterate EVERYTHING afterwards. Nothing was sticking. I had the elementary and middle school one as well. My middle schooler said it's super boring and long. So we are doing Tuttle twins and TGTB history unit. 👌🏽 Hopefully that works out. Waiting on the TGTB to get here. Meanwhile we are reading Tuttle twins American History and just discussing it as a family.

My son is 12 and this is our first year homeschooling. We have been doing Story of the World and he is so bored with this. Is your middle schooler enjoying Tuttle twins and TGTB

@@Brody2kas yes they enjoy both much better! TGTB leaves room for discussion and small projects etc. Tuttle Twins is always good we use that for supplementing on days we need something to read aloud. 👌🏽

I wish I would’ve had used this for early history! I went with Beautiful Feet, but I have to edit a lot. I need the second half of American history and have no idea who to use now and the Tuttle twins are still at 1776.

Curious, in what ways did you edit BF? I'm considering BF or Tuttle, not sure which way to lean.

@@IndiBex86 There were a lot of leading Socratic questions ie "look up the definition of hypocrite." Now how does that apply to Thomas Jefferson? Not appropriate for k-3. So I just omitted the question. I also swapped out any book that seemed to dark for the age ie Encounter. I didn't like the ending that said this is a story based off the author's feelings. I used a Truth Quest history guide to find good swaps and add in extra literature for any major missing events. Truth Quest has a non post modernist pov vs BF's christian liberal pov. Tuttle Twins obviously has a libertarian pov. If I had to do it all over again, I'd choose them. I don't like working that hard. But my kid enjoyed the combination.

We ended up just reading the Tuttle twins history book which is great and didn’t do any extras. We then moved on to using Gather Round US history 2 which is what we are working through now

We still use the readers here and there but the entire program for history just didn’t fit in our homeschool schedule

Don't skip the beginning of that book! It lays out the foundation of what colonial America is! (We used it this year)
